I had jet black german built XR3, they didn't suffer the same rust and rotting problems as XR3's built elsewhere. even at 15 years old it was in better condition than most cars half it's age. bought it for £550 in 96 and since great examples had become very rare I got £1000 for it in 99. still regret selling it.

the car was left in a yard for a few years and then sold to us, the back end of the car was sold, better than any we saw, the front end only needed a few panels welded to hold it tight

it makes me sad to see another mk3 go. Although i was born in 1990 the mk3 is my favourite car, especially the rs1600i. And they are gettin harder and harder to find in any condition, let alone well-looked after models
