  • Very thoughtful and complex, so much more here than meets the eye here really.

  • this is one of the best songs 2011.....well done YOB !!!

  • A mix of Tool/ISIS/ Early Torche, and DOOMIER than all 3!!!

  • I just discovered this. My mind is fucking blown. Awesome.

  • Why the fuck is it that the greatest bands and songs, the REAL ART is always unknown? :|

  • I had been waiting for this album since ISIS's Oceanic.

  • What the fuck is an Atma? RELEASE THE ATMA! Prepare the ground for the Atma! There's an Atma adrift in the Ocean!

Hey man, the other day I coughed up an Atma....

Dude, did you eat my Atma?

  • @2daewoo4u ATMA IS the hindu name for soul, deepest part of the human being. The part that is connected to brahman.

  • Yooooooooob!

  • Divine Band!

  • YOB, my best fucking friend!!!! Keep it epic, keep it DOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!

  • oh come on guys, prepare the ground isn't that bad, its just fuckin doom....

  • @Katzenkaiser Every song on ATMA is a fucking MASTERPIECE.

  • @Kryp7K33p3r

but now I'm listening to Black Cobra... ;)

  • savage music to soothe the savage heart

  • Anyone that likes this may want to check out a few so-called "hipster metal" bands. Baroness, The Sword and Torche in particular. They stray from harsh vocals like most of this song.

  • @donnishark no no no, a thousand times no. Well, early Torche slays faces, but if someone has already started listening to Yob, why would they want to back-pedal to The Sword!?

  • @cyruseli it's okay to like inferior bands to YOB dude

  • Im sad... hearing this as the first song of this band i was amazed and mesmerized, but then, while listening the other songs i became disappointed, that the rest of their songs are just the typical growling stuff...

Nothing against people who like that, but personally:

I thought to have found another rare band like Om or Isis with less tantrum and all this screaming about how painful life and how cool Wicca, Magick and Neo-Paganism is.

  • @Shitnames

    D:

I'll have to listen to the other songs in order to confirm, but damn, I'd hate to find out that you're right.

  • @SWBF2Reviews me too man, me too -_-

still: better one good song to add on my list, then finding only bazillions of Lady Gaga, Rihanna and other sh!t

  • @Shitnames Dude, growling is a vocal technique, same as opera. Just because someone isn't singing with clean vocals doesn't mean they have to be whining about their life or throwing a tantrum.

For someone who seems to be into Wicca and Neo-paganism, you seem to be pretty close-minded

  • @joshbfat Yes, especially when listening to more "spiritual" growling like Electric Wizard.

But it isnt important for me the words themself, but the emotional mindset shown by using such a deep, gutural voice. There are so many things in modern society, that will be called "artistic", but for me it doesnt change the fact of what kind of resonance is expressed in such a vibe.

  • @Shitnames

I find Yob, on the whole, has a pretty even mix of growling and singing.

  • love the cover art.

  • @ydtwhm cover done by stevie floyd of Dark Castle.

  • Pre-ordered vinyl from Insound.

  • The best thirteen and a half minutes of my live! YOB will always be my favourite band, in YOB we trust.
