when i was in 6th grade we had dodgeball in gym class and my team always won....... usually i kinda cheated. whenever they took away the boundry line i went behind them and pretended like i was on their team i got like 10 people out in like 5 seconds d:
Hello, I play dodgeball for Scotland and i have my own team aswell, and i can tell you right now that throw will never be used in a proper game of dodgeball. You haven't considered in a game you could also step over the line causing a line fault. I dont know if you play dodgeball professional or anything. If you do have a professional team id like to see some videos of you play. Thanks
I do agree to some extent that it won't be used in a proper game because you can easily be picked off there, but this is more to be unpredictable to a team that might know how you play. Also it's more likely to be done when a team is up by a lot of players.
I don't step over the line cause I make sure to keep space from the line before I do it. I've played (and beaten) "pros" all over, but I'm underground cause pros don't really get paid enough lol...
seriously! with that kind of ball its just ridiculous! who the h*** is playing dodgeball with a ball soft like this! 3 year old maybe! if u tried to teach somebody something here, use a real ball, c'mon!
You underestimate the speed of foam. A rubber ball will never achieve the whiplash effect of a foam ball unless it is pinched or handled with a large hand.
Before you continue judging, I have much experience in rubber and foam dodgeball tournaments and I've found rubber more to be the type of inflict pain, while foam hones in on abilities to throw sliders, corkscrews, sinkers, risers etc... at speeds up to 70+ mph. Things an 8.5 inch rubber kickball can't do unless deflated to give pinch.
@frgt10drgn well thats the point. rubber is harder. and i think its simply senseless to distingush between slider ans raiser aso. - its dodgeball, can anyone tell me why i should throw a slider instead of a faster and harder to catch striking throw? - like rubber more; more original, more dangerous, more skills needed to manage a good throw. to sum up: i like the imagination only a limited amount of people will lay well with rubber, call them pro's. isnt that a point?
@stiefelmutti Rubber is not harder, it just hurts more. If anything, it's so much easier to catch, even the fast balls as long as you can take the pain.
What I'm trying to explain is that a straight fastball is so predictable, which makes it easy to catch every time, no matter how fast it's going. Good anticipation and reaction timing will beat a fastball throw 9 out of 10 times. Foam allows us to be unpredictable with throws, fucking people up cause they don't know where it's going.
@stiefelmutti Ya I'm starting to understand now. We play usually in a basketball court size for dodgeball so we understood that long range made our balls easy to catch, so we learned to throw faster and stronger with other throws.
Ya I do agree a rubberball is hard to catch thrown fast cause it can bounce off. :)
hello,im 13,5'8,150lb ,im left handed also,i wanted to know if you have any tips or ways to make my throws faster, accurate, and more powerful,i also wanted to know different ways to throw a ball,i have problem, when i put full power on the ball,it always hits the floor, any tips to control my throw?
Hi. Lol thanks I guess for the breakdown of your physical stats. Always go back to basics. Practice the form slowly, concentrate and do it repetitively correctly until you become comfortable with it. To learn other ways to throw a ball, watch my other videos.
For your problem with your ball hitting the ground, it means your throwing too fast for your aim to keep up. Until you learn to throw accurately, you can't increase the power in your throw because without aim, the throw is useless.
Thank you. As long as it's done right and you maintain strong control over the aim and balance, the cartwheel will accelerate your throw. Just don't forget your basics in throwing.
This is actually what I'd been attempting to catch on video out at Dodge For A Cause. Had seen you do that in the preliminary round the previous day, and found myself looking over at my friends like "Did he really just do that?"
Haha ya, that throw usually makes heads turn but during tournament play, if you want to win, there must be very little mistakes made. My cartwheel throw during live games still needs tweaking until I'm at least 90% sure I can land it without getting out in the process.
I've already explained that disadvantage in the information section of the video. Obviously this throw is not meant to be done unless you have cover and anticipate who might throw at you during the cartwheel.
I wouldn't go so far as to call it bullshit because if it's really done right with a strong thrower, the cartwheel will add more momentum and velocity to the result of the throw; granted that their aim adapts to the shift in balance. Very few can make this a dangerous result though.
True. The cartwheel leaves you vulnerable during the throw and you'll catch the eye of your opponents for the rest of the game usually.
So you wanna make sure you do this throw when the timing's right and make sure you can back up the rest of your game in case they go for you. So make sure you're a good catcher, thrower, and dodger before deciding to attempt this throw.
Of course. As long as you have good wrist strength to prevent you from any serious injury, you can always practice it.
The cartwheel is there to distract your opponent briefly. How clean the cartwheel is and how fast you do it will determine the amount of momentum that adds to your throw following the cartwheel. The bottom line is that it's the amount of practice you do with this throw that will determine the result you get.
Thanks. I'll try to create a video within a month about throwing tips, but the key to learning how to throw faster and harder in dodgeball is conditioning your arm through practice games at least once a week for about 1-2 hours.
It's just like working out. Your arm needs to be broken down before it adapts to the stress and becomes strong enough to throw harder and faster.
Thanks. I've been a little busy this past month with other things but hopefully I'll make another video regarding other types of throws for you guys to learn and practice off of before the year ends.
Lol I was nervous. I don't do a lot of camera time but I got the concept of the throw down in this video. So if you can do a better cartwheel throw than me at that speed and accuracy, then by all means make your own. Otherwise don't lecture me about how to do a video like this.
@frgt10drgn please dont get it wrong! english is not my native language, and interpretation of words might be differently! if i whouldnt liked that, i wouldnt have watchedit . the move is awesome. but, im from europe and we play a different balls.
i simply would love, to see a video from you where you show some great and efficent moves with rubber balls. you guys must know something, since u playing the sport much longer than we did!
@stiefelmutti Ah I see. No worries. Sorry, I've just met a lot of ignorant people in the past who don't understand what potential foam has when used right. I love both styles though. I may put a video up soon about rubber ball throws and foam comparison soon. So just check my site from time to time.

sorry - i meant not "harder" i meant more solid! (my english is so bad=)
well, as u saw, in short range (like we play it) rubberballs r incredibly hard to catch when thrown fast! - it just jumps off your hands so fast.
