Great video, often people have told me about this film and how it fits perfectly to the song ME. Watching it I believed that someone had to have listened to it and was inspired by the old song.
I knew someone would see the relationship of Wall-E to M.e. Also, if you think about it, "Down in the Park" presaged "TRON" with its "Machmen" playing kill by numbers in the arena. "TRON: Legacy" event went so far as giving us "Zom Zom's" in the guise of Zuse/Castor and the "End of Line" club.
@Franzko787 I agree. Hollywood has been ripping off the man secretly once in a great blue moon for a while now I think. That huge flop of a movie Melanie Griffith was in back in 1987 called Cherry 2000 is SOOOOOO 'Are "Friends" Electric?' .
@jrmetmoi Agreed. I always thought his music was very visual. John Foxx as well. Pixar totally ripped off ME. I will have to check out that bad M.G. flop. I would really love to see Ridley Scott to a movie based on Gary's stuff. Blade Runner was close as it was based on Phillip Dick's book. Gary was influenced by P. Dick and JG Ballard the British writer. Daniel Miller who produced D Mode & Yazoo plus his own stuff was big on Ballard.
@Franzko787 Hell, I'm not trying to insinuate anything here, but even Gary said that the terminator in The Terminator sounded a lot like a Machman! LOL But TRUST ME on this, from the first 10 minutes or so of 'Cherry 2000', or at least the first 15 minutes of it, you will see how it's too close to the bone regarding 'Are "Friends" Electric?'. Really. Who ever wrote that script just wrote the part after it where Melanie Griffith and everybody else comes in & it's post-apocalyptic too! LOL
@Franzko787 The clip of Cherry 2000 is already on here you know just type it in. It was a flop, no one's gonna hunt down that, they didn't even properly upload the whole thing! LOL
@Franzko787 OMG. I wish somebody would come out with a movie called Replicas already using Gary's earliest albums, Metamatic, early Einsturzende Neubaten, early Human League before the two chicks, or just basically darker electronica from the mid to late 1970s up to 1981.
The name of the song (M.E) actually stands for Mechanical Engineer and fits so well with the whole film, it should have been the title music in my book
I love this!!! =D

I think I enjoyed this more than the movie. For one thing, it was shorter and more to the point.

I think Pixar wrote the screen play based on the song (ripped numan off). I always thought his 2,3,4 albums could have been movies.

Why the thumbs down?
It's totally true, this song would have been great in the movie, during a montage scene..it would have been perfect..

@gummybits To paraphrase use of this song, "Where Was There Head At?"
