Funimation Suspends Dragonball Z Blu-Ray Production?!

I wouldn't worry about it. The movies on Blue Ray should be tight though. As long as they have original everything on it included. Honestly I can't stand how many changes they've made to the English version, like changing the music. I loved the original music in the Japanese version. I got the Japanese movies 15 years ago, couldn't understand them, but loved them.

I've been a HUGE Dragon Ball fan for more than a decade now!

The Blu-Ray situation does indeed suck. I was really contemplating buying those, but I think the Dragon Box is a better option for me now.

Now onto my Dragon Ball collection. :D I own that same funny dub of DB lol, all of the Funimation dub DBZ movies and specials (ex. Lord Slug and Cooler's Revenge), and the first five DBZ "orange brick" season sets. I got season one with Vegeta on the front signed by his dubbed VA, Chris Sabat!

That's very disappointing that the blueray dvd release is suspended. I have the first 4 seasons of the orange bricks DBZ dvd set which i wanna try to have all 9 seasons of them and i have some VHS taps of DBZ.

Funimation is currently "Suspending" production of these and evaluation a possible cheaper way to restore the series for Blu-Ray.

However, giving the sad state of the anime industry, I think it is safe to say that the Dragonball Z blu-rays are cancelled for good :(

Sad day for me because i really wanted these on blu-ray :(

Before: 2-disc saga sets, movie 3 & 4 DVD singles & 2005 movie box (which had movie 2 on DVD for the first time)

Now: Blue Bricks & 2010 movie box (with the redubbed movie 1 included)

Dragon Ball Z

Before: All uncut DVD singles (except movie 13 & the redubbed movies 2 & 3) & orange bricks

Now: Dragon Boxes, Double (& Triple) Feature DVD steelbooks & Kai Blu-rays

Dragon Ball GT

Before: All Uncut DVD Singles

Now: Green Bricks

@MsDBZbabe Well you have to understand, They are trying to restore film from the late 80's/ early 90's and there trying to make it FULL 1080P HD thats very difficult. Also of course they were selling this is what True DBZ fans wanted the whole series (including filler) on Actual Blu-Ray. So try to understand the old film thing, there also tryin to find another way to restore it so it's not like the said "oh we're done, cancel it"

As for Dragonboxes, I don't really need them, except for the episode guide books that's loaded with extras for each box set. I only want those. I also have almost all the PS2 games n' I'm hoping to get PS3 games too someday.

Gotta say its a shame the BluRays got suspended, even though I already have the entire series on orange box sets. Same with Dragonball n' GT. I was thinking of maybe getting them on BlueRay in the future, once they release every single one. But now, I just hope they sort that problem out so that the fans won't be disappointed. I used to have most of them on vhs n' dvds singles, but I sold them in order to buy the orange sets.

They aren't canceling it. There suspending it because they having difficulty remastering some of the old film. There trying to figure out a different way to process and remaster it.

@MOONWALKERGUY1 Maybe its a lie, how can they all of a sudden have a hard time remastering it, the 2nd one was already scheduled...maybe no one is buying the blu rays? I mean didn't it seem they were rushing? Kai isn't even all out yet, I don't even think the dragonboxes are all out. Blu ray to me seem to have released way to soon with the other versions, so they are now going to wait until everything else is released and probably then sell the rest of the anime on blu ray, just a thought.

@MsDBZbabe Its no lie, what I believe is with so many DBZ releases people were sick and tired of buying them and they probably didn't make enough money on them to pay off for the cost that it took to re-master them that way. I love the Toonami DBZ, with the Bruce F. songs and I bough both of these DVD's, hopefully they'll release more in time.

I own the Dragonboxes and was going to buy the Blus. Sucks that they end it when they are finally remastering it properly. I don't really buy the reason for cancelling. More likely they were getting the Japanese makers mad since they were putting out a superior product and the Japanese people were probably importing it costing the Japanese company money so they put pressure on Funi to stop.

I have them on VHS singles, DVD singles, all of the Orange Box sets, 2 Dragonbox sets, getting all of Kai dvd sets, I don't own a Blu-Ray so I never cared for it, even if I had Blu-Ray after Kai I'm done buying DBZ as an anime, I still will buy figures etc. but I want to save money for new animes I will get interested in, so for me I'm cool with the news.

I have level 1.1 and 1.2 on blu ray, the picture is great. I am sad to hear they are doing this, I was really looking to seeing the cell games in "hd".

I currently have all the seasons in the brick format. I have all the movies on blu ray, I will be picking up the dragon boxes soon. Sad to see that the Dragon Box 2 is selling for $200 plus on ebay.
