I have an Echo srm 230 and one time for the fun of it I was searching how much a cylinder cost.....$130 dollars, but a short block only cost $110? whats with that
@1972FordF150 I understand now. The short block includes the cylinder plus 16 additional parts. The short block should be more money than the cylinder by itself. If your viewing the cost from the same source, and the cylinder alone is more money than the short block, than there is probably a mistake in the listing.
@smallengineshop Yeah it should be, but I noticed on other sites that the short block only cost around $109 and the cylinder is more. Not too sure but I think it's a mistake, or else they just try ripping people off with the cylinder.
Half crank engines have the recoil at the front of the engine. Full crank engines will have the recoil at the rear of the engine as a rule. This is how we determine if it is a half or full crank engine
What they save in metal
The echo clearly is a better balanced motor
Good vid

Learn something new everyday. I am sure cost is their main reason, but I wonder how much lighter that makes it.

@Shryptix Weight is important with trimmers. Also it probably saves space using the half crankshaft. Thanks for your comment.

@1972FordF150 I think there is only one part number for the cylinder, so I am not sure I understand your question. Thanks for watching!

@smallengineshop A130000341 cylinder $121.44 from ereplacementparts
SB1061 short block from ereplacementparts $117.15
Why would someone get just a cylinder when a whole short block is cheaper than just the cylinder is what I'm wondering.
