This ship design is well known. No one is copying anyone. Its a design that works and because it is rarely seen in the public eye that is why scifi properties like to utilize them. It adds that "futuristic" feel, despite the fact there is nothing futuristic about it.

@obeybosss The Banshee appeared in the May 2007 Cinematic Intro for StarCraft II. That cinematic was made in 2006, so I believe it was simply a situation in which two separate entities thought of something similar. :)
