  • Excellent work there! I tend to go with heavier tippers for volume. Happy Holidays to you and yours. In the Tradition!

  • Right On!

  • Hi I'm pretty new to the Bodhran and I'm learning just by doing... (which mean probably all wrong)

I have absolutely no idea how you're getting you're triplets and such since you're holding the very top of the beater and so... the top of the beater can't be the thing making the additional hits.. What am I missing?

  • I'd kinda like to see the video from the other side of the bodhran too... so I can watch what your left hand is doing as well.

  • The bamboo tipper seems to bee a very good idea for small rooms and if you play together with silent instruments.

You play the Bodhran very well.

  • always thrilled to see new posts from you! i need to practice...thank you for the inspiration.

  • As always, Kip, ya sound great!

  • it's got a lot to do with the skin as well. this one is from Darius Bartlett and has a kangaroo skin. I find that pairing it with a bamboo rod tipper helps bring out the attach and clarity but still leaves the bass.

this is a 15.5x6....same dimensions as Seamus Okane;s drum, but with a very different skin/head

its one of my 2 favorite drums. the other being a 14x4 calf skin from Albert Alfonso

  • Hi Kip think I am going to have to get me one of those deep drums , in stead of the 3 inch deep 18inch one I have . It sounds so different. later Frizzell32

  • Just a great video !

    All the best .
