Do your research, if St. Nicholas died in 343 A.D. that would put him living in the 3rd and 4th century time frame, not the second century. This is only the beginning of the errors. No credible scholar accepts the "myth" theory about Jesus because there are numerous documents outside of the New Testament that state early Christian beliefs about Jesus. Also very reliable sources would be the successors of Jesus original twelve Apostles, the early Church Fathers such as Ignatius of Antioch..
My parents were devout christians who took me to church every sunday and prayed every single day. They never told me the santa story, my christmas presents came from them, not santa. But I don't believe in god, either, so it wasn't an earth-shattering discovery that santa isn't real that caused my atheism. It's because nothing about religion makes any sense. Prayers are not answered, life is still unfair, and bad things happen to good people for no reason. Also, it's silly and childish.

Want proof? There are volumes of proof. Don't discount Jesus so easily - there's way too much evidence for him.

I've always loved comparing god to Santa. As kids we all accepted the idea that 1 man flew around the entire world in one night and delivered presents to everyone. As we got older we soon found out that this obviously wasn't true. We KNEW our parents put them there. Just like Our society. Origianally our society blamed things like Thunder on god. IDK what the exact myth is but you get my point. As society got older we were able to answer things with proof. In simple God is a the adult santa.

The way our society works is that we demand proof for every single facet or claim that is made today. I've always loved comparing god to Santa. As kids we all accepted the idea that 1 man flew around the entire world in one night and delivered presents to everyone. As we got older we soon found out that this obviously wasn't true. We KNEW our parents put them there. Just like Our society. Origianally our society blamed things like Thunder on god. IDK what the exact myth is but you get my point. As society got older we were able to answer things with proof. In simple God is a the adult santa.

Sarris, the problem with that is that you may not force your religion on anyone, however you are not representative of the entire Christian population. And I dare say a majority of Christians DO attempt to force their religion on others and even try to incorporate their religious beliefs into our legal system. And that is wrong.
However, I would agree with Richard Dawkins when he says that the "burden of proof is on you if you want society to believe something".

The way our society works is that we demand proof for every single facet or claim that is made today. If someone walked the Earth today and claimed to be the son of God, would we not demand some sort of proof of this? Or what if a modern day book was written about someone who claimed to be God and our institutions told ALL of society to accept this as fact. Would you not demand the strictest proof of this?

That is where your logic fails. Sure, there was a great flood. Does that necessarily mean that Noah lived in the belly of a whale or that a red sea was magically parted?

Hello!! the New testament is an historical document and has under gone the same scrutiny as any other ancient document. People seem to forget that! There is copius evidence that Jesus walked on the earth. There is well over 6000 mss to give strong support that the biblical Jesus is an historical Jesus. Why do people discount NT records when they are actually historical documents that were passed from church to church to be read. Isnt that enough for everyone? obviously not!

Oh yes it can, the Jesus myth exists for around 2,000 years now.
Think of all the Myths before that lived on for a longer time period...some older myths haven't died out yet, they are just practiced underground for fear of riducle and in extreme cases for fear of persecution.
There are myths that have been believed to be true that had a longer life span than the Jesus myth.
Once Christianity falls the other religions will follow suit quickly, and people will make their belief private.

No, I am afraid you are mistaken. Christianity has nothing to do with intelligence just faith in something in absence of reason. Once peoples intelligence goes through a heightened enlightenment, religious myth beliefs dwindles. Is a proven fact, that there is a correlation with higher intelligence and lack of belief.
Santa Claus has it's roots in a real person who has been mythologized...research history.

I don't see anyone following the Egyptian anymore so far? It died out...in the same way Judaism, Christianity, and Islam will eventually maybe 100 years from now maybe 1,000 years from now, who knows but it will. But the irony of the Kalash is that they have been pressured by islamists to convert to Islam for centuries and over time many converted, but there is only a few thousand now that have stubbornly remain stead fast in their beliefs.
