so theres two bands that has the same Grand Prix name? i mistaken got the samurai album for the japanese band Grand Prix, but they both play same style which is still cool
@Rattlehead930 i joined the facebook group. i still have my copy of the lp i bought when it first came out in 1983. I also saw them live supporting iron maiden. that was an awesome concert.
You guys know anywhere I can get this album? I can't use e-Bay and Amazon, because they wont ship the item to Denmark, and I need the song right now, because my band is gonna cover it for a mix tape kinda CD, together with a few other bands.
Without doubt my favourite Grand Prix song. I bought "Samurai" on the strength of an incredible gig they did at the Edinburgh Playhouse whilst supporting Iron Maiden. To this day I cannot understand why Grand Prix never went on to bigger and better things.
I was at that gig aswell. They got the best response ive ever seen for a support band from the brilliant Edinburgh crowd. I thought they were gonna be massive after that ,,but they got zero press from the likes of Sounds, Kerrang, and Raw and ended up splitting..They improved with every album ..just wish theyd done a fee more.
You miss the meaning of the video. These people sacrificed their lives to protect their family and home. In the end it didn't matter. We dropped two bombs. I don't agree with their actions, but respect what they were willing to give up to protect their home. And yes, it quite tragic.
@widowworks wait a sec. didn't the japanese attack first towards america? was it beacuse they were Allies with germany? and yea I agree. these honorable pilots do sacrifice their lives for friends, family, and home.
@widowworks the Japanese military started this war. They invaded China and commited terrible atrocities such as the''Rape of Nanking.'' They signed up to an alliance with Hitler and then attacked the USA by bombing Pearl Harbor. They sadistically abused prisoners of war in violation of the Geneva Convention that Japan had signed up to in1911.
I don't have any sympathy for the Japanese military. The pilots shown in this video were indoctrinated dupes engarged in a campaign of futility.

Btw, I love how McAuley's voice sounded like in the Grand Prix days, I acthully prefer it to the McAuley/Schenker days.
By the way, if any of you people have Facebook, you should join the group called "Rock Group: Grand Prix were superb"
We need this band to gain some of the publicity and fame they never got!

Do any of you guys have tabs or something like that for this song? I really need it :x
It's pretty hard to figure out, to me it sounds like the guitar is overlapped by the vocals and keyboards.

It is true that they sacrificed their lives to protect their family and home. But they were forced to do so by their nation.
I don't want you to see only the beautiful side of the history. I don't want you to forget such evil doings of Imperial Japanese.
But I am happy that you have right recognition of the war.

@widowworks
They did not protect their homes, that is a propaganda lie.
What they did was following the orders of their criminal militaries and corrupt politicians. They were sacrificied
in order to make their generals and the Tenno "great" and famous.
