Seen Huey Lewis Do Hot Pants when he was with Clover in 1972 or 3....closest thing to JB I ever seen..but no-one will ever come THAT close to James Brown...I was in jail the night James Brown died ...the entire cell block let out a collective low moan when the guards announced it... Dec, 2006 it was sadder than having to spend Christmas and New Years in there.....and it made them the saddest Xmas and N.Y.'s I ever had....
I had to repond to this! You don't have any idea how long it's been since I heard this version. I have every James Brown song that he ever produced, recorded and performed but I could find this extended version of "Escape-ism". I first heard it over my uncle's house on a 45 record and I played it over and over again, I even recorded on a cassette tape from the 45 record he had. LOL. Thank you for bringing back these great memories!.
@TruThicknessTV This wasn't issued in the full version on the original album. Not sure why since James Brown typically released long versions of his recordings. The full extended version was released on the reissue CD of the original album "Hot Pants" which is out of print, but still available for download on Amazon.
From a brother from the city of Brotherly Love, North Philly! Now listen to this... this true soul...hip hop and rap ain't got nothin on this. They can't do it, they can't play it and they can't get down. Now take that to the bridge! I play a bass and my kids think this is cool and thay get down with it! LONG LIVE JAMES BROWN and the JB's
In Chicago we have a summer program called "project right-on" on the westside and the brothers and sisters in charge were some funky get down peolpe they played alot James Brown all the time and we would dance until we sweated and drop from 1970 to 1974.....yeah we have a good time back then!!!! thank you Mr. James Brown and the JB'S!!

@PaulDA2000 Yes, thank you. Unfortunately, due to youtube time limits, I'm not able to post the entire full version. I neglected to add "Edit Of Full Version" in the description.
EVERYBODY CAN LISTEN TO JB BUT NOT EVERYONE HEARS JB. R.I.P. GODFATHER.

James Brown had the best drummers in the business! Just laying down the groove and making it feel good without all the busy drum fills! Awesome!

Additionally, soulbrother, the "Hot Pants" album was released in 1971, not '73, and this extended version, from the cd, was not released until 1991.
Hey, it's great how my extended remix of "The Spank" shows up bottom left in the screen when this track finishes!
