  • Thanks for sharing this wonderful video.

  • my brother is a member of this society

  • Sounds like your using a Nokia N73, that high buzzing sound gives it away. lol

  • Mmm radials!

  • Those engines sounds beautiful and have a pleasingly healthy sound. Extremely well taken care. i WOULD like to go to Finland to take a ride.

  • the very first plane I'm flying with (as passenger), I was in kindergaten, flying from Balikpapan to Surabaya, Indonesia.

the first thing I did after through the door is looking for the batteries, at that time I imagined it will be powered by batteries as my toy, the fuselage of my plane toy was fulled with batteries

  • Love them wrights! Anyone know how many of these gals are still flying??

  • I heard that a guy bought one for $30,000.

  • Lately those DC 3 engine sounds have become rare.

Luckily these excellent video has superb "radial music" :)

The Connies were my favorite but they disappeared many years ago :-(

But there are Connie videos as well ;)

  • That is my favourite air plane music

  • I took an air tour of the outback of OZ in one of these. I had never been on one which had passenger seats, just military version. They can of course land on a postage stamp and it was just cool being in one for the tour..........18 day

  • I was lucky enough to be born before the DC3s went out of regular service with Central Airlines.

In my teens I often flew from Duncan to Dallas in a DC3.

    Flew low and slow.

You could count the ducks on the ponds.

I think I was on the last commercial flight (or the next to the last flight) of a DC3 out of Duncan Ok.

Central put Convair 240's on that route and the DC3's were not seen again.

I have had several opportunities over the years to get DC3 time and jumped on every one of them.

  • Just curious here.... are the DC-3's engine single or double-row i.e two engines together driving one prop on each side.

  • @TotallyTheSims3

The vast majority of DC-3s were powered by a pair of Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasps; twin-row, 14 cylinder radials (seven cylinders per row). The earliest DC-3s were powered by Wright R-1820 Cyclone 9s; single-row radials with nine cylinders. The latter were the same engines that powered B-17s.

  • -94's?

  • Why do they allow to explore that old shit ? !!!

  • Great, Great video!

  • this plane is good, this plane is "THE plane"...

  • seems the sound of a Curtiss C-46 commando

    good video!

  • That liftoff is so sweet looking...almost like a magic carpet. The engines make it look effortless.

  • 1:44 Yeah !

  • wow that is my favorite and,the first time i ever flew when i was a kid was Ethiopian Air Line back in the 70 s and,thx 4 posting 10 plus!

  • Very nice video - great audio - excellent camera work - thank you.

  • That is a beautiful sound. Those 9 cyl engines really are fantastic. The whole plane really is a brilliant aircraft.

  • magic ! ! !

  • The Sound of Music................

  • how much space it need to take-off

  • Thanks! If my simulation is reasonably accurate, the DC3 is a doddle to fly - albeit with one or two quirkes.

  • Yay!!! 75 years of legend still in the air, still in service !!!

  • OH-LCH kiiltää kuin kilin pallit. Googlettakaa "OH-LCH over the numbers at Lelystad". Hienoa että oikeat lentokoneetkin lentää.

  • did this model use coffman starters?

  • @daviator78 no.

  • @belate2 - ahhh! electric then??

  • COFF...COFF !!!!!

  • magestic

  • Marvelous Douglas airplane, and sweet sounding Pratt&Whitney R-1830's!

    Good show!

  • What a beauty! Thanks for sharing!

  • That sound brings back memories, I used to cycle to a US airbase in the UK in the late 1950's and stand at the end of the runway - the sight and smell never to be forgotten!

  • Bruno Lucanderin vanha dc-3! STR

  • It's not supposed to be hazy or overcast all the time. It's a secret worldwide program. Search for "chemtrails", "Dont talk about the weather". Check my chan for my vids. Friend me. Ask me. Wake up. Wake others.

  • The only thing that sounds as good as a pair radials are 4 radials. I never see any comments about the harmonics of multiple engines when heard from the cabin. Am I the only one who loves that rumm rumm rumm rummrummrummrummrumm rumm rumm rumm. Don't know how to describe it.

  • Yeah! Finnair. Great clip, was this at Malmi?

  • Nicely done !

You held your shot through the pan, nice and steady. Must be an old pro, I don't think you were running a fluid head or anything, right ?

  • I didn't have a tripod. I don't know what it takes to become an old pro and when I will reach that point but you are right, this was not the first time I was holding a camera.

  • what a sweet start up and take off..

  • Well, first thing I wanted to say when I watched the videp was how bwautiful those radials sound...But I see many people think the same thing. Well, I am happy to see I am not alone in my love for those airplanes.

  • In 1960 I first visited Finland, flying from Sundsvall to Vaasa where relatives met me...and of course the DC-3 was similar to this one :)

  • Nothing I know of can match the grace of DC-3 at take off!

  • Great song..

  • Great plane!

  • Nothing sounds better than a pair of Radials

  • @chessiethecat lucky me, living in south west florida, they use these for mosquito spraying, we have a few hueys that do that also,

  • @chessiethecat Not even 4 of them? Give me the Connie or a B17 when it comes to winding out some finely balanced jugs.

  • @chessiethecat 2 pairs of radials?

  • The takeoff and flyover are great. Nothing sounds better than radial engines droning off in the distance. I wish they would come back to aviation.

  • Anna mennä Oscar Charlie Hotel !!

  • The only replacement for a DC-3 is another DC-3.

  • what about curtiss c-46 was

  • @amadeus5889 Or Chuck Norris

  • @amadeus5889 YAY

  • @amadeus5889 Its a beautiful plane. Everything about it. Simple and to the point.

  • What a beautiful sound, those Pratt radials starting up.

  • Hienoa harrastajat. Pitäkää LCH kunnossa.

  • A truly majestic plane in it's power, simplicity and reliability. THANKS for posting this, very nice!
