i watched this video over a year ago and forgot that this was what inspired me to learn chinatown....thanks a million this is a song that i have impressed many with , yet i will never have the original awesomeness you have. Check out my chinatown and others i posted them
The music from one of the greatest movies ever made was just great to listen to in 2008 as it was when I first saw the screening of ChinaTown in 1975.
Thanks so much. Your video has inspired me to get back into playing. I ordered the HL Great Film Scores and now I have to relearn the piano. It will take a while because it's been a very long while.
I got the sheet music yesterday, excellent. Now comes the sight reading and finger positions and synchro...you know. But I'll tell you what, where I may learn the notes and what to play, you play music. And that's my real goal. Thanks again.
Learning the notes is a process all musicians have to go through of course. The key, I guess, is knowing when the music is "ready" and qualifies as a performance, rather than just as "practice". That's the fun part. The final interpretation and performance of a learnt piece. There are no shortcuts though. You have to go through the first, laborious process, to get to the other.
Exactly. Step by step, elemental first, secondary, and so on. Where you are, is way above where I am. It's OK, and you have to have goals. Fun part, lol, you're right, and that's what I'm looking forward to, knowing the technical part enough that I can concentrate on the other.
Thanks Superbliek. I record all my pieces digitally and then merge audio and video later. That way the quality is very good. Much better than just using the Video Camera microphone which is often of a poor quality live. For some reason, this video has gone out of sync since I posted it on Youtube. It was fine before.
Can you pleaaase post the piano sheets online? :D

Indeed, a great legacy, and that's the best way to look at it.

Yes, it was a sad day for music when Jerry Goldsmith died. But what a legacy he left us!

Is that a Yamaha electronic keyboard on top of the piano (Goldsmith did a print ad for Yamaha that ran in the U.K. for many years)?

Thanks all. It's amazing to think that the maestro Goldsmith wrote the score to Chinatown in just a week or so.
