Contd ...Akbar wanted Khusrau ( jahangir's son) to rule instead of Jahangir since he was alcoholic and drug addict. Jahangir blinded his own son and killed Sikh Guru Arjun Devji because the latter gave shelter to Khusrau. That is how things started shaping up for worse.

Having said this I will also say in the medeivial times (15'th century) status of an Islamic woman was much better than a HIndu woman. North Indian Hindu women had to endure sati and bad widowhood. Men still had many wives and concubines like Muslims. In islam they were allowed divorce and remarriage. Hinduism has come a long way today from what it was.

I thought it was alright.

Thu- HM is still angry and I dont blame her. She called me a bully. I must take some CBM like massive HIndu appeasement for starters.

Thu- Life is good. Looks like nothing much happening at Moghul Darbar except MM's meeting with the bearded staff. that MM is is hovering around me and showing up where ever I go. We love this movie only because of such romantic scenes bet Aish and hrithik and the songs. You can not learn history from this movie, but can be motivated to look up the actual history and learn what really happened. This movie depicts what a deam Akbar that we all will like.

you're probably right about, but I did look up some stuff about Akbar in a book that I had that did describe him as being good with a sword and very fit. I did kind of wonder why they didn't cast someone more mongol or persian looking.

We have to accept history as it was and not try to modify it to be politically correct. Nehru and other pseudos did not want Indians to know the actual fact about the islamic rule so that the relationship bet communities do not deteriorate after partition. In fact we were not taught Indian history in school. After making us buy the books they went with another curriculam. We were only writing notes about 5 year plans. We have to know Islam for what it truely was and is.

It was ambition that made Akbar make the wise choice of tolerance. But at the same time it was power craze that made Jahangir who was half HIndu, a fanatic in spite of a great up bringing from Akbar and Jodha. Jahangir's mind was poisoned by Muslim fanatics who wanted to undo what Akbar did.

Come on guys! It's just a movie & it was well made. Akbar was no Gandhi, but at least he was much better than Babur & his descendants like Aurangzeb. By the time Shahjahan was born,he was practically a Hindu if you see the blood line. Of course, he made the mistake of marrying a persian noble woman, Banu Begam & the entire line was doomed from that moment onwards. If gentle and pious Dara Shikoh had become the emperor instead of the zealot Aurangzeb, India's history would have been different.

Contd ...Akbar wanted Khusrau ( jahangir's son) to rule instead of Jahangir since he was alcoholic and drug addict. Jahangir blinded his own son and killed Sikh Guru Arjun Devji because the latter gave shelter to Khusrau. That is how things started shaping up for worse.

Why did I get a negative review on Alexander? I loved the scene with the elephant fight. Elephants were very effective during BC. But after artillary came it became very cumbersome and they could turn against their own side. That is one of the reasons Indian kings lost to Moghuls. They depended too much on elephants.

I am a hindu and IMHO hinduism along with other vedic religions are the best. Having said this I will also say in the medeivial times (15'th century) status of an Islamic woman was much better than a HIndu woman. North Indian Hindu women had to endure sati and bad widowhood. Men still had many wives and concubines like Muslims. In islam they were allowed divorce and remarriage. Hinduism has come a long way today from what it was.

This whole movie is hot because of hritik and Aish and A.R.Rehman. Imagin this movie with SRK and zinta or any body else. I dont hink it will cut it. Like in Mughle azam because of Madhubala and Lata for songs.
