I think the Red Frame shown here is the Astray Red Frame 2nd L, that's why it has the giant sword/gatling gun on its back.

That's the exact same thing as saying since Wing Zero has a Beam Canon by "defeault" it should have a sub machine gun because it would be cool. I'm not trying to argue on why people think that beam sabers are so cool, all I'm saying is that the cosplayer stayed true to the default katana instead of using a beam saber.
