A X6 is not better then an X4 at gaming, and AMD can't compare to Sandy Bridge...yet... time to see how good Bulldozer is going to be. The Phenom II X6 were a disappointment in my opinion... they were barely able to beat the Core i5 750
@TurkishGaming not all x3 cpus can unlock the 4th core u have to be lucky enuff to get a model that can unlock the 4th core also why r using a 3core cpu on a mobo like this u should be running atleast a 955 x4

@FuenfamTag as an owner of the ch4e, yea you can do it. I just tried it with my 6950s and gtx 260 and it worked just fine naturally with out the lucid chip. Using the lucid chip would just smash 2 6950s and the gtx 260 together. I personally dont use the board for the lucid chip but the other features are amazing. Also, you can do your build on pretty much any other AMD motherboard since there are 2 drivers. You would dedicate the 470 to PhysX and BAM! your all set. Hope I helped! :)
I'm thinking about buying this board with the AMD II X6 1055T 2.8 GHZ processor. I'm wanting good gaming performance on budgeted funds I was wondering if the overclocking follows the same easy steps as you demonstrated for the M4A89GTD PRO/USB3, what hard drive you would recommend for the 6GBs, and what memory size, number of sticks and frequency would you suggest to use with this board. @thefinALE007 the ASUS and ROG site says ATX im sure about that. It is considered an ATX motherboard because the holes are ATX but there is an additional width on the right side so officially its an ATX but from my opinion its EATX.
Eh, I kinda hate seeing the old PS/2 keyboard connectors... What is the point of it anymore? What modern Gaming Keyboard has a PS/2 connection? I certainly can't think of any. USB 2.0 is the norm now. It's what I use.
Oh and as for the Mobo itself, I've been torn between deciding whether I want the Crosshair IV Formula or Extreme but I read on one site there is/was some issue with the LAN driver on the Extreme.
I've heard some bad things about the LAN driver... However it doesn't seem to have the same heat issues the Crosshair IV Formula has had. Honestly I've been torn between the two for my next build.
@sheriexsunshine no you cant do SLI with this. its more about being able to run different cards in multi GPU configuration in addition to CrossfireX which is NOT part of the hydralogix engine.
Hi I noticed you said that it is NOT an sli ready board but because of the lucid chip you are able to mix and max nvidia and ati cards. Now does this mean that if you were planning on using multiple cards at least one of them would have to be ati? Or could you run two nvidia cards in sli without hindering performance? Just ordered this board, and it comes today! Anybody got any idea how the 'Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600MHz' RAM preforms? I ordered 8GB to go in this amazing board.
Now this is an awesome motherboard, I am a big fan of AMD and I'm running the new AMD 1090t 6 processors at 3.2ghz stock but I overclock it to 3.89ghz w/PC2000 8 gig with 2 EVGA GTX 580 very stable, simply because AMD is an awesome processor for the price and Nvidia is way better video card, so I have the best of both world :) I'm loving my bad az rig it's so fast 'less qq more pew-pew' BBC2, Black Ops, Medal Of Honor and Combat Arms.
@chinweet this does not need HAF X btw its too much money. i think 922 is fine it fits a 5870 (bigger than 6870) so i think it will do fine go look at the vids for the coler master HAF 922
i say dis 1 b cuz u can use Radeon or Nvidia or to of dem at the same time unlike cross hair formula iv it has wat the cross hair formula iv did`nt hav at dat time. ASUS Crosshair IV Extreme it had me like wow.
Luckily, you don't have to run the northbridge fan. Asus put that on there for cases with low airflow. Why you would have a low airflow case and a high end board is beyond me, but hey, Asus is nice like that. P.S. if you have a half decent case, don't use the fan, because it is REALLY loud.

Hey Linus, keep in mind PS/2 ports have absolutely no delay while USB keyboards update based on specific intervals. Technically speaking it's better to go with a ps/2 port when working with a keyboard.
@MetalB33rSolid No.. Practically you can only put 3 ARES cards on the ARES maximum because an ARES card is a 3 slotcard so...it needs space :) bun you can only put 2 in crossfire and the third...well...what do you do with the third?:)))
@shaban96 It'd be nice to have it as an OpenCL (or similar) sort of implementation so anybody can write it into their games and have it work on any compliant card from any manufacturer. That would solve many issues and fix the divide we're seeing with so many games using PhysX which can't be done on non NVIDIA cards, unless you offload it to the CPU which reduces performance.
It's Intel Lan.... We got a little more speed there ;)

@chinweet this does not need HAF X btw its too much money. i think 922 is fine it fits a 5870 (bigger than 6870) so i think it will do fine go look at the vids for the coler master HAF 922

sli is only nvivida motherboards so you can only run 2 nvidia cards at the same time
this mobo crosshair IV EXtreme will allow you to run w/e card you want at the same time
its the only mobo of its kind

Luckily, you don't have to run the northbridge fan. Asus put that on there for cases with low airflow. Why you would have a low airflow case and a high end board is beyond me, but hey, Asus is nice like that. P.S. if you have a half decent case, don't use the fan, because it is REALLY loud.

SLi means you connect 2 nvidia cards and make them work together :)
Crossfire is ATI's equivalent of SLI :)

u can run a nvi and ati card on a same system, i heard it just a mater of instaling both drivers and some twaking and there are, event the nvi can be dedicated for pyhsx ^^
but on this mbo, the is the lucid hydra chip that can make u run ati and nvi without any confusing tweaking

Hey Linus, keep in mind PS/2 ports have absolutely no delay while USB keyboards update based on specific intervals. Technically speaking it's better to go with a ps/2 port when working with a keyboard.

@noxrulez SATA 3 is back compatible with the older versions, but you obviously won't get the performance advantage of the newer drives made for it.

@MetalB33rSolid No.. Practically you can only put 3 ARES cards on the ARES maximum because an ARES card is a 3 slotcard so...it needs space :) bun you can only put 2 in crossfire and the third...well...what do you do with the third?:)))

@shaban96 It'd be nice to have it as an OpenCL (or similar) sort of implementation so anybody can write it into their games and have it work on any compliant card from any manufacturer. That would solve many issues and fix the divide we're seeing with so many games using PhysX which can't be done on non NVIDIA cards, unless you offload it to the CPU which reduces performance.
