@SummonHeather no. you're right. it is off. the video i made this with was from an old vhs tape that i made in 1994. when i converted it to digital it just came out that way and i never fixed it. sorry.
WOW. GREAT song, superbly performed. He's just so damn good, I can hardly stand it. As I write this, MOJO is set to come out tomorrow; I can hardly wait! I feel like a kid the night before Christmas! How lucky are we that we have Tom Petty in our lives?! What a talented songwriter and entertainer! TP ROCKS!!
in case no one noticed, Steve Ferrone is backing up on drums in this clip, as by this time Stan Lynch had left the band. Famously, Dave Grohl (of Nirvana, The Foo Fighters, and most recently, Them Crooked Vultures) sat in on drums when Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers appeared on SNL in 1994 to promote "Wildflowers". Grohl was actually offered a full time gig as the Heartbreakers drummer, but declined to devote his time to writing, recording and performing with his new band The Foo Fighters.
with all respect, the true fans, i'm sure will already know that information as well as the similarities between petty and grohl as rock artists. please don't use my childhood hero for a medium to express what you think you know about music.
@jenningswriter I didnt know that. Thanks for posting your informative comment. His earlier music takes me right back to high school.. I love it when that happens :). Cheers
@jenningswriter Thanks for that inside info.... Not sure why the original poster thinks that every Petty fan is as well versed as HE is in every historic aspect of the Heartbreakers as a band.
@nsra1933 He's probably being careful with it - he shattered his hand several yrs ago & had a bunch of reconstructive surgery done. I guess he has several pieces of metal in there helping hold it together. Tom is married & has kids - no limp wrist for him. TP rules
i'm glad you like it despite the quality of the 15 year old vhs tape that i took it from. i've been a huge petty fan since i was like 13 and this one and breakdown are my absolute favorites.
..WTF do u idiots sit n pick people apart for..? This is a great
musician, playin for U..enjoy it n shut-up abut his hair or choice of shoes that nite..??!! I hope u have perfect hair, can play guitar, write excellent songs, n sing them too...like for U to show us ???
I know. A guys got to deal with his receding hairline in is own way I guess! At least he's not like Daniel Johns of Silverchair. The guy uses a Karate Kid headband! haha
It's so great to hear and see bassist Howie Epstein. He had such a beautiful voice. It blended perfectly with Petty's. Not sure people realize how great he was.
his hair isn't short but it is kind of styled different i guess. maybe the video was cloudy on your end. sorry about that. it was taken from a 13 year old VHS tape but it's my favorite video of all time so i had to put in on here.
thank you so much for commenting on this! i first recorded this back in 1994 when i was just 14 years old. i've been a devout tom petty fan since then and anyone who isn't is just whack!
you know it's funny that you said you were 14 when this album came out so was i and now i have seen him on tour 7 times since 2000 he is truly an amazing artist. i love this album he played some songs from it when i was at a concert in 2005 besides you wreck me and you don't know how it feels and loved it. i love those tunes but it was nice to hear others to great video, post more. send me some. thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Petty: "Oh you know, bigger than this"

@Rodeopain He broke his hand in 1984, this was Letterman 1994. 10 yrs of babying it? I was not saying he's gay, far from it. Just a limp fish.

Your VHS tape might be OK but there may be dirt on the heads of the VCR machine which will affect the quality.
