It's not every day that Jason Robert Brown gives his thumbs up to a video of one of his songs!!! I had the pleasure of seeing his musical 13 three times in its world premiere engagement in Los Angeles a few years ago.  A great show, a great song, and another great performance Jeffrey!!

Jeffrey, just keep doing what you're doing. Sing what YOU want to sing, And don't pay attention to people who say, "Don't sing that sing because it is a 'girl song,'" They may mean well, but it's bad advice, and is limiting. The composers of the songs you're singing--and I know them-- would be delighted by your performances. You're doing great! As a playwright and director, the best advice I can give anyone is follow your heart, do what you love doing.
