I wish Atlanta would get back together....they are too classy of a group and way TOO AWESOME to just go by the wayside. I would definitely go see them!!!!
I saw this group in the 80's at the Thurston County Fair in S. Sioux City, NE and they were AWESOME!!!!! I couldn't believe how GREAT AND PROFESSIONAL they looked and sounded. I had bought their album and of course, it was my favorite. Loved these guys. I wish their music would be released so we and others may enjoy it again. They were too AWESOME TO LET THEIR MUSIC DIE!!!!!
If you type in Sweet Country Music on iTunes and then click on Atlanta, you can download it along with Pictures, Good Time Chariot, and Can't You Hear.
I had this record back in the day and have been trying to find it and I can't! Can't find any mention of the title song "pictures" and that was my favorite. Does anyone know where to find this?
I was always a big fan of these guys when I was younger and loved their stuff!! I searched and searched and finally found both there albums online from a vintage record store. I have since converted them to DVD's with todays new technology and they are played often. My wife and I even had the song "Pictures" played at our wedding for our first dance 2 years ago!!!
They both had the same producer and promoter its not always the group its depends on who pushes who the most.thats why country radio sucks right now so many good bands out there right now.this is more southren rock than country.
I remember hearing this on the radio in the '80s? Well anyway I would stop in my tracks to listen. I'm not big on Country but this has to be the best.
Is this the blatant rip off of Alabama or what? How did they not get sued for infringement? It's like they listened to Mountain Music and ripped off everything it. Right down to the tempo change at the end with the same fiddle play. Fucking lame.
@bounddrummer I am related to one of the original members that just pasted away last year. They were the best, beside Alabama. The only reason they did not beat Alabama is because, there Producer was the same Producer for Alabama. This said person, pushed selling Alabama more. Only reason they were not as famous as Alabama. As for the Infringement, the person that owns Alabama's records, owns Atlanta's.
This was my favorite band back in their hayday. People think I'm crazy when I bring them up. They think I'm making it up. Thank you for posting and proving them wrong!
@ethen24 You're right. Even Rick Jackson, on his 'Country hall of fame' show, said they were an Alabama clone. Maybe, but, this song still sounded great. God bless!
I heard this song on the radio today. I totally forgot about it. It's a great song for sure! I wish there was more bands like this. Too bad country has changed so much.
Just bought this album on ebay for $9.00 and there are a couple of more on there if anyone is interested.
