Just like I thought it would be, in version Lara has less movements, the graphics are so worse than PS3/360/PC version, Lara doesn't move plants when passes through them, etc. But you know what? I don't care... This game was almost as disappointing as TR6, for many reasons. Its conclusion was exageratedly HORRIBLE, they promised this game would be long and wasn't, gets boring after Mexico, the bosses (even Natla) are just obstacles, etc. But as a fan for 11 years, I take at least PS2 version.

I don't think the graphics matter is to be ashamed. It seems quite outstanding according to age of the console. But I wouldn't glorify this game anyway due to one point. In comparison with 7th gen consoles/PC it is cut off a lot of gameplay elements. Just by viewing this video I found many shortcuts and level simplifying, a lot of puzzles were omitted. Too bad.

I'm thinking of getting this on the ps2 as a ps3 just isn't an option right now. I mean the tomb raider games aren't really about graphics, i find the epic storylines to be the most important part and is the reason i play tomb raider. I was still playing angel of darkness when newer games were coming out for the next-gen consoles and i could see that in comparison the AOD graphics weren't great but the story the game was telling was what kept me going.
Get a 360 then. And yeah storys great but with such bad quality on the ps2 version everything like the great story, voice acting and music feel outta place :(
Well I've played all 3 versions and the 360 version has better graphics, more stable framerateand of course the great downloadable levels and costumes :-) Or even just get the PS2 version then get the PS3 / 360 version and you'll be like "WOOOW" :-)
Interesting, the graphics look fine for the PS2 however the character animations look very stiff. It's like she's missing frames when she moves. Compared to TR:Legends and TR:Anniversary I would have to say this is the worst looking of the 3 thus far. Maybe it's because the high end versions have advanced dramatically since Legends and Anniversary that the PS2 is just not capable anymore of keeping up.
I am still going to rent this game and see how it is. You can't judge based on youtube vids.
i personally think that it took so long to update the ps3 and 360 versions so they made one version and were like hey lets put it on wii/ps2 also so they would only have to make a ds version and psp version and be done

I haven't played the PS2 version of this game, but I have it on PS3 and its great. I understand that PS2 gamers are pissed at the way the PS2 version turned out, but watching videos seems like its OK (I know that's just the way videos make games look though). It was. They completely underestimated what a PS2 can do. I just got this game yesterday for my PS2 and I really love it, but sometimes I feel like I'm playing Angel of Darkness again because it gets jerky and glitchy really frequently.

Next to the PS3 version, this version seems to have been rushed by the developers, the gameplay is pretty poor and a little disappointing next to the other consoles. I appriciate this is only the PS2, but Crystal Dynamics and other companies involved really should have tried harder.
I just played side by side with this on my Wii and there is actually a pretty big difference and i´m not just talking about crisper colors and more detail but tree´s and walls missing and one tiger was missing and then when you reach the big area in part 2, there is a whole sequence of puzzles missing.
Pretty much the same in most ways but it has had to sacrifice alot compared to the Wii version. I can´t imagine the difference if you go to the PS3.
i've already ended the ps2 version... IT IS HORRIBLE, i'm sad, i should have ps3, it's not only shorter, u can't do a lot of moves as kicking people, no adrenaline mode, no sprint as in the ps3.... i'll have to get a ps3 or the pc version

I totally agree, the ps2 version is disappointing and DULL. Seems like a lot of running aroung for...not much! If you look at any ps3 walkthrough, it's like reading about a totally different game. they spent a LOT less time on the ps2 version. but theyve never needed enviroments this BIG...so they had to take off other features like graphics etc. because of the memory!

I think the crap they put into making it motion captures really mest up the graphics. It pushed the PS2 the the max and they couldn't make the graphics better. OMG! Tomb Raider: Legend & Anniversary didn't look bad at all in PS2. Why Tomb Raider: Underworld? Tomb Raider: Underworld for PS2 was developed by the same developers for Tomb Raider: Anniversary "Buzz Monkey".
The enviroments look really bad and parts were cut off. I can't believe this.

Maybe it was because Buzz Monkey was too lazy to even make new graphics for the PS2. So they used the Wii's graphics. Eidos is doing this to itself. you can make a aerial flip by pressing circle(making a crouch move in motion) and a second later , pressing X(jump)
and on ledges, keep holding the left analog in the direction you wanna move and then press circle

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!! And I was actually about to buy a PS2 just to play this game (since I can't afford a PS3), but now I just wanna cry.
I thought the PS2 version would be better than the DS, and I can't play it on PSP either. DAMN!!!!!

I just played side by side with this on my Wii and there is actually a pretty big difference and i´m not just talking about crisper colors and more detail but tree´s and walls missing and one tiger was missing and then when you reach the big area in part 2, there is a whole sequence of puzzles missing.
Pretty much the same in most ways but it has had to sacrifice alot compared to the Wii version. I can´t imagine the difference if you go to the PS3.

i've already ended the ps2 version... IT IS HORRIBLE, i'm sad, i should have ps3, it's not only shorter, u can't do a lot of moves as kicking people, no adrenaline mode, no sprint as in the ps3.... i'll have to get a ps3 or the pc version

If you're PC can handle it get that, it looks even better than the PS3 and 360 versions and supports a lot of gamepads.

Do they change the level a lot on ps2 version (as in compared to the next gen version)? I know the Wii version is very different but what about ps2?

I think that is REALLY horrible! It looks like the level isn´t finished( i mean surroundings) TRAOD,TRL,TRA are older but look better than this one.look at comment from 891109b there are another weaknesses. you wrote that you don´t have ps3 so buy it better for pc.

the game might isn`t that good as the ps3 version that i have but it is not bad...maybe it`s buggy sometimes but in my opinion it`s beautiful..

I totally agree, the ps2 version is disappointing and DULL. Seems like a lot of running aroung for...not much! If you look at any ps3 walkthrough, it's like reading about a totally different game. I guess the ploy is to make us all buy a ps3 - I'll wait til they start popping up on e.bay in about 6 months time :o)

also buzz monkey arent good at next gen but theyr AMAZING at last gen. but buzz monkey didnt work with them in underworld. and crystal dynamics arent good at last gen! my dad works in crystal dynamics and he told me!

they spent a LOT less time on the ps2 version. but theyve never needed enviroments this BIG...so they had to take off other features like graphics etc. because of the memory!

This is even worse than Anniversary :( Which shouldn't be. Seriously people I tell you the truth when I tell you that the true experience in this game has to be played on the next-gen consoles/PC. Thanks for posting this video up by the way! though I'm disappointed with some changes, it does bring back some Ps1 nostalgia for some odd obvious reason...it's a cool feeling. I'll admit.

wtf... why was this soooo delayd if its JUST like the wii version, and to tell you the truth, the wii version has better graphics then this and this looks WAY more buggy and glitchy then the wii version, and it also looks like she cant do as much moves as the wii version AND half the enemys are gone and when she was running through that grove before that little temple thingy wasnt there, where there was supposed tp be a tiger.. im so glad i sold my ps2, im dissapointed at this version, its SHIT!

i just think you guys are a bunch of moaning fucks, i personally have this for ps3 and it rocks yes it looks amazing. So of course the ps2 version aint gonna be a patch on that and if i was i would want a refund for my ps3. It doesnt look any different than Legend and anniversary if its such a big problem then buy a ps3. i will be buying this fors ps2 aswell casue the levels look slightly different and i wouldnt mind seeing it all.

I think the crap they put into making it motion captures really mest up the graphics. It pushed the PS2 the the max and they couldn't make the graphics better. I'm not saying their bad but it could have been better. Look at TRA. I really want to play this though. I still play tomb raider 1 and the graphics are low class. It's not a problem. But i'm not going to say it sux until i play it. I really want the PS3 version but i don't have any money haha. I need to get a job but i'm too young. Bye=]

OMG! Tomb Raider: Legend & Anniversary didn't look bad at all in PS2. Why Tomb Raider: Underworld? Tomb Raider: Underworld for PS2 was developed by the same developers for Tomb Raider: Anniversary "Buzz Monkey".
The enviroments look really bad and parts were cut off. I can't believe this.
On the bright side, I'm glad they ATLEAST made Tomb Raider: Underworld for PS2.

Maybe it was because Buzz Monkey was too lazy to even make new graphics for the PS2. So they used the Wii's graphics. Eidos is doing this to itself. All of us fans were waiting for better graphics and inmprovement, and they only gave us this. Eidos is going to be expecting alot of hate mail from PS2 owners.
