you guys were at my schools jazz fest on saturday and i have to say that i love watching ur director on stage cuz he dances and its kinda fun to watch lol
Wow this sounds slow... Our school band posted their second half of this video and its longer than this, but thats with an amazing rhythm break and numerous solos...
Who said that this chart needed a rhythm break and a crap load of soloists?
Its solely up to the players to make this (or any) chart come alive. Playing at some ridiculous tempo doesn't achieve this. Having alot of soloist doesn't either. Don't be blind and bash another band just because you think another is better. Learn2jazz, buddy.
So then who has more style, this band or the other one? I think it says something about the band's musicianship if they can keep a song tight and stylistically accurate at a high tempo like that. I agree it is solely up to the players to make a song come alive, and if this is what you believe... Well just listen to both charts.
Also if you want to talk about bashing stuff, I guess bashing bands is bad but bashing other people is okay now, that makes lots of sense.
Well, you guys played it at how many times faster than written tempo? Don't look down on it just because they're not playing it as fast as you with as many rythm breaks and solos, however excellent they may be. Your school's style is generally fast. There's nothing wrong with that, but remember that there's a whole bunch of different styles out there. Jazz is supposed to be open for interpretation and don't think that your interpretation is better. That being said, Repeat after me, Gaasfroobaaa"

Is this from this year? cuz I went to your guys' festival and I don't remember anyone playing that other than my school. either way, I'm gonna need to work on it a little more to get at your lead trumpets level. My A's only come out once in a while.
You have a nice swing to the tune.

length in chart, tempo, or even the number of solos don thave a god damn thing to do with a good chart.
Any GOOD jazz player would know that.
If you can't play something with style then you arnt a good musician.
