  • Dorothy Danridge never looked mixed to me. She has a nice speaking voice!

  • Lerna horne family passed for white!

  • @JadaFan4life LOL! You need to read up on Lena Horne's family history! Both of her parents were mulattoes bordering on white!

  • @chsn09 I'm well aware of Lena's Horne's background as I have read several of her biographies. My point is she is not directly biracial as she does not have a parent that is fully white (i.e Halle, Alicia). However, it's doubtful if Lena or Dorothy would have been able to crossover or have been nearly as successful if their looks didn't at the very least suggest that they were racially mixed. This is a sore subject with some but that is just the way things were back in the 40s and 50s.

  • If any of you went to school and took biology classes which also touch bases on " Recessive Genes" in the "Human Genome/ DNA" you wouldn't be having this conversation......

  • The stupid thing about it all is that the caucasians started the lies and hatred now they seeing that we are all entangled and they are fighting hard to maintain the BS rather than just admitting they were wrong.

White Parents have had black children with no immediate black ancestry and vice versa. This stupidity is tiresome.

Ps. a lot of caucasions are arrogant & short sighted as they do all this shit and never seem to realise there will be consequences. Just an observation.

  • Couldn't they find a better wig for beautiful Dandridge? This one looks right out of Korean discount store.

  • @samtrak1204 SO HALLE BERRY WEARS A WIG TOO? I DON'T GET IT GIRL.

  • @Godisgood818 I ADVICE YOU TO READ HER BIOGRAPHY AGAIN. SHE WAS NATURALLY HOT, SHE DID NOT HAVE TO TRY TO BE HOT. SHE WAS THE COMPLETE ENTERTAINMENT BUNDLE. NOW WHY ARE MAD, DID SHE STEAL THE HEART OF YOUR BOYFRIEND. THEN YOU MIGHT WANT TO CONSIDER GAINNING SOME INNER BEAUTY OK?

  • White people are threaten by black people thats more beautiful than them. SO they feel they have to claim it. Dorothy Dandridge parents was black. Mixed is when you have 2 different race of parents.Dorothy Dandridge wasn't allowed to go to public restrooms, and swimming pools, she had to pee in a dixie cup. My opinion she's more black than anything. White people are hypocrites, and only wanna bring up slavery when they talk about mixtures. White people mixed to, we don't claim y'all though.

  • Based on what I read, Dorothy character in this film is mulatto or mixed race and during the movie several references are made about her skin tone and white blood.

  • @JadaFan4life She wasn't mixed though. It was because of her skin tone she fit the mixed character. Black people wasn't allowed to interracial marriage in those times. She was black.

  • @90rashad Lena Horne and Dorothy Dandridge were Mulatto "types" meaning they had the look and features typically associated with those who are mixed race in spite of having two black parents. In Donald Bogle's Tom Coons Mulattoes Mammies and Bucks, he has an interesting essay on Dorothy Dandridge "apotheosis of the mulatto" and he talks about how she basically embodied the Tragic Mulatto both on and off the screen. I highly recommend this book. It is a very fascinating read.

  • @JadaFan4life She's black lol get over it. I have the same features as dorothy.

  • Comment removed

  • @JadaFan4life No actually I really do. You cant deny what i look like. I even have a picture of myself.

  • @90rashad Lol, sure you do....

  • @JadaFan4life Don't dictate to me woman.

  • @90rashad That did not stop mixing. It always happened, more so than other families.

  • @MANDAWAH Hallie Berry the actress that played Dorothy was mixed but not Dorothy. Her sister didn't have features like her.

  • wow the whiteman must pay for that shit

  • this woman is a star black light purple or blue she is what she is so quit hating. Many stars today try to duplicate her. So get over it already, shes pretty, shes talented, and shes a FREAKING STAR DAMMIT

  • She only made it because she was light skin.. what a ignorant fucking comment to make! Back in these days, Blacks stood together, they didn't care about bullshit like Red Bone #teamlightskin and all of that crap. Ignorance never dies

  • @blackbarbiie89 nah, that shit still existed then. Read the Willie Lynch manifesto....

  • What difference does it make!!!!!!!! You are all Ignorant AF for sitting here arguing about what her race is!

  • just, wow!

  • She's full black smh at the comments

  • @EdTV20 nope, she's mixed. This is America. We're all a mix of something!

  • LMFAO! All of these comments are RIDICULOUS! Dorothy Dandridge is clearly of mixed lineages. She is of mixed ancestry. I don't know what crack pipe some of y'all are smoking, but she's NOT BLACK. She's mixed lol

  • @chsn09 She still was not accepted. If she went on the bus in the South I am pretty sure she had to ride in the back with the rest of the blacks. Have you seen Rosa Parks?

  • @chsn09 Look up her mother Ruby Dandridge. Look at her sister in Raisin In The Sun. Both her mother and sister stared in that film.

  • @HairH2O that is not Ruby and Vivian Dandridge in the original Raisin in The Sun that came out in 1961 Lorraine Hansberry released the book back in 1959 by then Ruby was working on A Hole in the Head which was her last film she didn't do anything after 1959 and Vivian Dandridge was living in seclusion in south France at the time

  • @Nu19Nu If it is not that movie then what movie was it that both her mother and sister starred in.

  • @HairH2O Vivian was an uncredited extra in Stormy Weather her and her mother were uncredited in the cartoon Coal Black and de sebban dwarfs vivian was the voice of "so white" and ruby the voice of mammy. and again in another cartoon goldilocks and the jivin bears vivian as goldilocks and ruby as grandmother and a few others Ruby I believe as acknowledged for stormy weather

  • @HairH2O vivian was also uncredited for her role as Miss Nelson in bright road

  • Is Wayne Brady gonna have to choke a bitch???

  • @Gfresh1620 she is MORE BLACK THOUGH she is only quarter white, her dad was mixed race

  • what a bitch

  • Why is that everyone starts wagging their mouth about these self hating racial issue. Dorothy Dandridge was a talented actress. Can you talk about that?!!!!!

  • i would have slapped him some more after he spat in my face

  • She's mixed end of story! some ancestor of hers is caucasion. Her parents does not have to be caucasion but her grandparents could be. A story i know about this african american man who got divorced 3 times because all his wives gave him light skin babies(lighter than dorothy). Both him and the wives were dark skinned! therefore he thought they cheated on him but when he did the DNA test all the kids were his and he found out that his great gran was white! so all 3 kids take from his great gran

  • That's a shame, when she was offered the role of a slave in a big picture she tunred it down (the King and I) but she takes this role ??? and this film wasn't nearlly as big , don't get me wrong i enjoy this film , she just would've had more if she wouldn't have rejected the role of Tuptim.

  • i,m a dark skin plus size 20 year old black women and aside from that my facial features are the same as Ms. dandrige and so is my hair so color does not determine someone features or hair type in the black community :)

  • @constance380 your absolutely right...nor where you come from!...Black women can have children in the full range spectrum of color!...We are the only ones who can do that.

  • SO YES I DO BELIEVE YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE MIXED TO LOOK LIKE DOROTHY OR HAVE STRAIGHT FEATURES...A LOT OF AFRICAN AMER. DONT HAVE WIDE NOSES/FULL LIPS ETC...AND A LOT OF EUROPEANS DO SO WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU?..BEING LIGHT SKINNED DOES NOT MAKE YOU MIXED...HAVING STRAIGHT NOSES/THIN LIPS DOES NOT EITHER...THE AFRICAN/BLACK FEMALE IS THE ONLY FEMALE ON THE PLANET, THAT CAN PRODUCE OFFSPRING THAT CAN GO FROM LILY WHITE TO CHARCOAL DARK AND IT IS WHAT IT IS, DOROTHY WAS NOT MIXED, ALL BLACK&LOVELY!

  • @renijustreal Actually Dorothy's father was half white!!!!

  • @naturaluv85 noooooooooooooooooooooo he was'nt!

  • @naturaluv85 Really?...I read somewhere that he was all black and her mother was 1/4th Black Foot Native American..from early photos she looks like her mom, and as she got older she looks like both parents just a lighter shade of brown.

  • @renijustreal Hey, then I may be wrong....

  • to all who keeps saying she was mixed...HER MOTHER RUBY WAS AFRICAN AMER. AND HER FATHER CYRUS WAS ALSO THE SAME...BOTH DARK SKINNED AND BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE...YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE MIXED TO LOOK LIKE DOROTHY...THERE ARE TRIBES IN AFRICA ESPECIALLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CONTINENT WITH PEOPLE WHO HAVE NATURALLY BLUE EYES AND STRAIGHT NOSES ETC...AND ARE PURE AFRICAN (NO EUROPEAN STOCK)...AND COMPARED TO SAY HALLE BERRY WHOM EVERY ONE KNOWS HAS A WHITE MOTHER..DOROTHY BEING ALL BLACK LOOKS MORE MIXED

  • Ashanti looks like a younger version of Dorothy

& she also reminded me of Tia and Tamera when she was getting mad

  • Really intense scene!

  • OMG! Beyonce mom is mixed now plz move on this is not about Beyonce its about dorothy dandridge

  • @pummahbyron1 LOL I agree. How the hell did beyonce come up in this! And just because someone is lightskinned does not make them mixed....smh@ some of these ignorant comments.

  • THIS WAS BRILLIANT ACTING PERIOD!!!!

  • She was sooo pretty:)

  • I read some of these comments and all I can say is..Field negros & House Negros..it is the slave mindset. It is time to set yourselves free and with the help of God it can be done. In my family there is many spectrums of skin colors..to the lightest light to the darkest dark, they are all beautiful. However, it not what is on the outside. What substance of beauty is on the inside. Beauty fades, but love last forever. Please be kind one towards the other.

  • AND also 90RASHAD beyonce didnt have her fuckin nose done DUMBASS her mom is mixed. black french and indian. where the fuck do YOOOOU get ur info from ? up your fuckin ass? lmao

  • 90RASHAD...NO....UUUUR STUPID. her mom was half jamaican, 1/4mexican,1/4indian. and her dad was half black half WHITE. so she was about ooo halff BLACK 25percent WHITE and 1/8 mexican and indian

  • Since Black American slave women were raped by WHITE plantation owners and WHITE overseers of the plantations for over 300 years, most African Americans have been foceably infussed with white blood. This has created a mixed look overtly evident in people like Dorothy Dandridge and Lena Horne, both of who had two "Black" parents... as a result being Black or African American is not synonomous with being 100% African. I hope this ends the discussion!

  • Dayum Smakked his ass up!!!!! LOL OMG

  • people are so obsessed with our look i swear when they see a very over attractive black person they tend to question their race.

  • Wow, quite powerful. The slaps were real! And for him to retaliate and spit in her face took some guts from her to let them keep that in the script. Why haven't this movie been played? Is any of the footage damaged or maybe lost. How big of a role does Dorothy play in this movie? Is this her only part or is there more? Is this an American movie or made in another country? Please give your viewers more information. Thanks.

  • This was a good scene, I've never seen this movie before. I wonder what this movie is about!!

  • I'm sorry, but the computer altered "beauties" of today can't hold a candle to Dorothy Dandridge! She was so pretty, you can't even be jealous, just in awe.

  • THis looks like a good movie!

  • Of all the ignorance on planet earth, there is none more strikingly apparent than the anthropologically incorrect use of the term "Race" when referring to human beings. When referring to humans, there is but one "race," the Human Race. And, ONLY where referring to both Cultural and Geographical distinctions within the Human Race, is it ever appropriate to address the matter of Ethnicity.

There is only one "race" on the planet - Human. Distinguished only through 'geocultural' Ethnicity.

  • @TigerGrumman Human is not a "race", human is "species". Race is more equivalent to "breeds". Ethnicity is more of a cultural/religious/lingual. Take example of dogs (or leopards and panthers). Let's say "dog" is a species, different dog breeds - are races. Humans ARE distinguished by races. That's why when you go to doctor they ask your race, because some medical tests for different races give different results.

  • @wildbestia:

The reason your doctor's front office asks your "race," is 100% due to the incompetence of those running the front office and nothing to do with the Anthropological and/or Genetic reality of Human Beings. The term itself was created by human beings, to show a distinction without meaningful difference, by those who preferred to categorize human beings (for their own irrational reasons), as opposed to truly understand humanity.

  • @TigerGrumman They ask your race because DNA testing is DIFFERENT. I have programmed these medical machines - a lot of them have "race" as a required parameter. They give different results for different races. It's science. Study it. Or stick to the Bible... God and bla-bla-bla... whatever..

  • @wildbestia:

What's the percentage (%) DNA that distinguishes all human beings on planet earth? That alone, should be indication enough that human beings are not genetically fragmented nearly enough to be classified further by so-called "race." God, created Humanity. Humanity, in its inglorious ignorance, created racial classifications, so that one group of paranoid people could "feel" superior to other who were just genetically, just like themselves.

    Humans are distinguished by ignorance.

  • Here are some personal quotes from Dorothy:

-"It [prejudice] is such a waste. It makes you logy and half-alive. It gives you nothing. It takes away."

-"If I were white, I could capture the world."

-"Carmen Jones (1954) was the best break I've ever had. But no producer ever knocked on my door. There just aren't that many parts for a black actress."

  • she's beautiful..

wake up descendants of israel. you are under the curses of deuteronomy 28. the "jews" who were scattered throughout the world after 70 a.d. their biggest plan isto keep you blind to your history. read study and you'll come to this conclusion of who the people were on those ships. zondervans bible dictonary: HAM- the yungest son of noah, born probaly about 96 years before the flood; and one of eight persons to live through the flood. he became the progenitor of the----^

  • Zondervans Bible Dictonary: HAM- the yungest son of noah, born probaly about 96 years before the flood; and one of eight persons to live through the flood. he became the progenitor of the dark races; NOT THE NEGROES, but the egyptians, ethiopians, libyans and the canaanites. negroe was a word first used around the time of the slave trade hmmmmm why would it say that? over in the east they are taught REAL history and they know the isrealites are DARK people who were scattered.

  • Black people are still enslaved within their own race judging by the colonised debate about complexion. Due to slavery a large majority of black people are of mixed heritage FACT! Black people of light complexion would have still been considered a Nigger by white people in those times and still are now. As a black race we have a distorted view of beauty and consider those nearer to white in complexion and features the epitome of beauty, while shunning our ancestral roots.

  • Could you guys please stop talking about race, and start praising her for her marvelous acting skills? Just chill and watch a real talented movie star.

  • Comment removed

  • @SuJacobs whats wrong with talking about race....it's apart of our American history... you can't run and hide from it. I hate how white people throw dirt and then want to forget about it....race is always going to be brought up thats life...deal with it

  • @TheFashionldy it's wrong talking about race once it starts interfering with other relevant issues. Plus no one is trying to hide any dirt, if what u said was the true then slavery wouldn' even be in our history books. But it still is and always will be. Like i've said before, I'm sure that this video wasn't posted for us to discuss if she's mixed or not, but to admire what's long done TRUE RAW TALENT...By the way I'm not white.. I'm a proud african girl (angolan).

  • When you think of the brutal chapter of slavery, it makes you wonder whether or not you should even shed a tear if America should ever be hit by another terrorist attack.

  • she was mixed.. you cant be this beautiful african....sorry

  • Since 1977, in an attempt to keep up with changing social opinion, the United States government officially classified black people (revised to black or African American in 1997) as A person having origins in any of the black racial groups of Africa.[2] Other Federal offices, such as the United States Census Bureau, adheres to the OMB standards on race in its data collection and tabulations efforts.

  • Dorothy was a beautiful BLACK woman.

  • @MonTheDon88 Dorothy was a beautiful BIRACIAL WOMAN

  • @tubey1111111

BIRACIAL PEOPLE DON'T GET CALLED NIGGER.. BLACK PEOPLE DO.. DOROTHY WAS BLACK AND CONSIDERED HERSELF BLACK. WHITE PEOPLE STOP TRYING TO CLAIM OUR PEOPLE.. ITS PATHETIC ! QUIT IT WITH YOUR REVISIONIST HISTORY.

  • @MonTheDon88 Who the fuck told you I am white??. I am black as ever .Just because I say she is BIRACIAL (WHICH SHE CLEARLY IS) that don't mean I am white. She clearly is a biracial woman and I don't understand why fools have problems when someone who is clearly biracial, is considered that.

  • @MonTheDon88 And FYI, because America was is so racist, biracial people are considered black and are called Nigger. An example is Barack Obama who is clearly a BIRACIAL MAN but is called black . Ain't no denying the fact that, she was Biracial like halle berry, shemar mooore, nicole ari parker, Obama, etc etc , NOW KEEP IT MOVING

  • @MonTheDon88 how arent biracials called niggers? on what world you live?

  • Its 2010 and we're still having this discussion about mulattoes and mixed ancestry. We get enough shyt from insititutional racism and oppression. Its really an individual thing. I know Blacks from all different color spectrums who are concerned with real issues and topics with substance. I guess this will always be a issue with some especially those who are insecure about being genetically linked to a person with dark skin.

  • shes black let it go

  • @oceauna She was BIRACIAL

  • @Antwansuperstar21

    Sources said that her

    dad was Mulatto & her

    mom was Black & Latino.

  • @APGiftsOK , Thats a lie her mother was of black and indian blood her father was black she has the same amount of mixed blood as any other AA get off it..

  • There is No Such Thing as a "Light Skinned Black" person!

The term "Light Skinned Black" is a racist oxymoron coined by White racial supremacists who tried to forcibly deny 'Mixed-Race' people who are of a Multi-Generational Multiracially-Mixed (MGM-Mixed) Lineage the right to embrace & acknowledge their full ancestry.

Again, so-called "Light Skinned Blacks" are simply 'Mixed-Race' people who are from families that BOTH BECAME & CONTINUALLY REMAINED Mixed-Race THRU-OUT multiple generations.

  • This is NOT stating or implying that having a LIGHT-Complexioned SKIN tone IS is THE 'ONLY' (OR even a 'REQUIRED') PROOF of a person being OF MIXED-RACE LINEAGE.

It 's simply stating that the person's Light-complexioned Skin tone is simply an Undeniable physical Proof Of the Fact that their family's Ancestral Lineage has been 'Continually' racially Admixed 'Throughout' the Generations (from the first incident of admixing to their present generation -- ex. Griffe marries Metis, etc.).

  • THE KEY to being MGM-Mixed* is LINEAGE-CONTINUITY!

On order to be MGM-Mixed*/Mixed-Race one's ancestry MUST have BOTH BECOME & REMAINED (at least 25%) racially-admixed THRU-OUT all the

    family generations!

Having 1 or 2 "ancient-ancestors found "somewhere-down-the-line" (ex. a great-grand whatever of another "race") DOES NOT make anyone MGM-Mixed (or else everyone could (falsely) claim to be MGM-Mixed)!

    MGM-Mixed REQUIRES "CONTINUITY-of-Admixture"

    *Multi-Generational Multiracially-Mixed

  • The racist 'ONE-DROP RULE' (ODR) -- the false teaching that Black blood is inferior -- WAS BANNED IN THE U.S. way back in 1967 by the U.S. Supreme Court (in the 'Loving vs. VA' case).

That decision struck down the 'VA Racial Integrity Act' (VRIA) & every 'Anti-Miscegenation Law' (AML) in the U.S. AS WELL AS the racist, 'One-Drop Rule' (ODR) on which both the VRIA & the AMLs were based.

    Legally-speaking, there's been NO 'ONE-DROP RULE' in the U.S. SINCE 1967.

    That's nearly Half-A-Century Ago.

  • The term of 'African-American' (AA) IS NOT a synonym for BLACK (Race or Descent).

The AAs are NOT A RACE or CULTURAL Group.

The AAs are a largely Mixed-Race^ ETHNIC group composed ONLY of:

"The 'Descendants-Of-The-Survivors' Of the Targets of the antebellum-era continental U.S. chattel-slavery system".

[^The Lineage of MOST (+70%) AAs contains +20-30% European & +25% Amerindian THROUGHOUT the line.

The Non-AA Citizens of the U.S. who are Racially-Black are called Black-American (BA), not AA]

  • @AllPeopleGifts Why is this important.?Please tell me.

  • @swkstudent thas what both AP and me are saying, but you clearly havent noticed that in america "lightskinned" is used practically as synonymously with "multigenerational mulatto".

  • Why are people so concerned of what the exact herritage of Dorothy Dandridge is? Truth is she does have mixture but is mostly black. In the years she lived society viewed her as black, she was treated as black and limited to the things she could do because she was black. Some people say she is the 'black' version of Marilyn Monroe. Dorothy was a brave black female who stood her ground and persued her career as an actress and sometimes singer. Let her be an inspiration.

  • What's wrong with Dorothy's race? Look it up, her father was a mulatto, her mother was black with traces of Mexican and native American. I think it gives her an interesting look, it obviously didn't affect her acting or her love life. I just don't understand why people never want to say she mixed...what's so wrong with that?

  • @90rashad I never said she wasn't = ) Look it up, it'll tell you that her father was a mulatto (mixture of black and white) and her mother was black mexican and native american. just google it or type her name into wikipedia I looked it up. It is possible to be mixed with dark skin I would know. Are you being sarcastic. If anyone who didn't look white tried to swim in 'white pools' they'd drain them. Do some research then come talk to me

  • Comment removed

  • for all of you who do not know, Dorothy Dandridge's father was half black, half English, her mother was Jamaican, Mexican, And Native American, which in my understanding would make her part African, part English and Spanish, and part Native American as well. She is similar to my mom who is from New Orleans and of creole background

  • Dorothy Dandridge is still the hottest woman in hollywood. She was underated acter and need to be look at bigger than Marylin Monroe. Dorothy Dandridge was 20 time more beautiful than Marylin Monroe..!

  • @suzukidas2 I love Dorothy but no she wasn't 20 times more beautiful- they looked totally different and it's not as though there's some kind of beauty war amongst them. All of hollywoods leading actresses were beauties not like we'd find today. I don't see the point in comparing them. I'm a black woman and as far as I can see beauty is what it is.

  • Indeed, history has not been kind to Dandridge. I am shocked to read some books that take the word of a dick like Preminger, a director who shamelessly bullied her on the set of Porgy and Bess, to support the idea that she feared people who were more "black" than she was and that she was ashamed of her skin-color. That's such judgemental BS mentality from cynics. For pity's sake, If I were an African American in the 1950s who lived a life as public as Dandridge did, I would be insecure too.

  • Why does it matter what percentage if white blood she has in her, name one african american who doesn't, and that comment about her not letting black men and black actors touch her is so untrue harry belafonte and sidney poirtier were among great friends of hers and her first husband whom she had a child with "harold nicholas" was a black man.

  • It amazes me that the Africans brought to this country are portrayed as unskilled and ignorant. The truth is that Africans were enslaved, bought and sold because they were skilled.

Check out some old posters of slave auctions. Slaves are specified by region because certain regions were highly skilled. Some were skilled in cultivation, some in metalwork. The generalized all-purpose slave came about after the importation of Africans ended.

  • Your comment is probably the most important on this page. A lot of Blacks today have bought into that unskilled mentality. We are so much more than athletes and entertainers. Best solution is to be the very best in whatever circle you find yourself. Skills, intelligence and a hint of modesty still go a long way.

  • @nvmarcus -very true. Although I'm just reading these posts today i'm lost on how everyone got so deep into discussion. You can't really try to make white people get certain things 'cause they just won't. They always want to argue race with out any facts or real effort to seek any. I give credit to the ones that are real about the ignorance in their own race and who are aware of the thing called "white priveledge" those that can see black people as people and not black.

  • Dorothy Dandridge and Angela Basset are two of the greatest black actresses of all time.

  • @starryparadise HER LIFE was sad.. it mirrored the Tragic Mulatto roles she played.. she was a married white man's whore ( Otto Preminger)..said to have been sleeping with multiple white men in Hollywood, later married a white male restauranteur who beat the hell out of her, then died broke after her white Jewish manager stole all of her money. She was never fully accepted by white people & was STILL intensely victimized by the racists (white supremacists).

  • so according to most commenters on here all black people look the same

Gee that line never gets old

  • I would have stomped that fool right in the nuts after he spat in my face.

  • Wow, I got chills from just watching those two minutes of that.

  • It's so sad that you can't even watch these videos without seeing something about her damn race.

  • oh i would've beat the hell out of him for spitting in my damn face like that

  • @BrittanyReexx3 you comment just failed everywhere really

  • @Rockstafeller

    uhhhh...noo

& i dnt mean to be harsh but, get a life;; you have tons of comments all over this one video.

obessed with dorothy's race muchh buddy?!?!

  • @BrittanyReexx3 The googling has been done.. why are Black people so obsessed over gradients of skin color? SELF HATRED.. Her mother was a mulatto ( african, whatever kinda mexican & some Native American).. her father was a MULATTO.. if either of them were as dark and black skinned as the damned ace of freakin spades.. she is still a mulatto as both of her parents were. Thank you.. AND SHE WOULDN'T have been too PROUD of a "black" woman.

  • @EbonyNewsChannel if you are not black then why is your username named ebony, dorothy dandridge was not mixed, bother of her parents was blackm and dorothy was treated like a nig so therefore she was black.

  • @BrittanyReexx3 No, her parents were biracial. MULATTOES. Black peole do come in all shes but Dorothy Dandridge WAS NOT A BLACK WOMAN. She was a MIXED WOMAN. Enough with your foolishness. And Dorothy identified herself as coloured which means a non-white person.

  • Why do we worry about what color she is? Shes beautiful .Period.

Lets move past this kind of stuff.

  • Dorothy was 100% black. Just like Vanessa Williams. I agree with you nubian05girl and RRRemix.

  • @itsme30518 DOROTHY DANDRIDGE WAS A 100% BEAUTIFUL MIXED WOMAN

  • @itsme30518 they both are indeed black but not 100%

  • beyonce, halle, tyra banks, tisha campbell, naomi, kerry wahsington, pam grier, the supremes, ronnie spector, tina turner, oprah, michell obama, etc ain't got nothing on her (beauty that is).

  • No one argues that Mulattos are Black, socially, culturally.. but they are not Black racially, why is it so hard to accept that

  • shes beautiful and black its 2010 cant we just accept her for who she is a elegant lady who had real talent xxxx

  • Besides very existence of all those race comments in this video is a proof that she is not Black.

Why no one argues about India Arie's ancestry? Hm..............

There's no way 100% Black person could pass for a Mulatto or a White person without mixing up. Those are two totally different races of people, how can one pass for another? It's ridiculous.

  • @Rockstafeller actually there's a word that defines when one person tries to "pass" for another race or group. It's a sociology term called "passing" and its real and at one point in time common. There are so many books, articles, movies, and tv episodes that have come out about "passing" you can just google them. THATS RIDICULOUS

  • @sweeticet1990 lol i wrote my 12th grade term papter on colorism and passing....my teacher got upset lol

  • How about changing the narrative to why did this talented actress got fucked over in a hypocritical enviroment. We want to honor her because we love her now and we aint racist anymore. Stop that..she and other black talent got the short end many times. The price she paid far out runs her beauty .This woman, her legacy, her spirit and her sacrifice against a majority openly racist movie going audience.

  • deep

  • Wow shes beautiful

  • oh really well i guess josephine baker is my great grandma

  • She really was gorgeous.

  • wow..now this was acting..

  • 1:03 to 1:05 his face was pricelerss! like "stop" "stop" lol. btw love d.d

  • NO WAY!!!!! Someone is still doubting her mixed-racialism? She is not even a Mulatto, Mulattos look blacker than her. She is mixed on BOTH SIDES. Her mom is light skinned (= mixed) and her father is half-White/half-Black.

  • @Rockstafeller Wrong. Her mother was dark skinned Ruby Dandridge, the actress.

  • @HornGoddess08 Ruby Dandrige was nowhere near darkskinned and she clearly was a Mulatto. Mulatto + Mulatto = another Mulatto, that is Dorothy

  • @Rockstafeller Are you serious?.... No. That's not true. I think they would have portrayed her to be a Mulatto in the movie with Halle Berry if that were the case....
