  • directed by Paul McGuigan?? the Guigsy from Oasis??

  • its from a movie i remember.. but what was the title??

  • THE MOVIE IS THE ACID HOUSE: WHAT A MOVIE!!!!

    FROM WIKIPEDIA:

The Acid House is a film adaptation of Irvine Welsh's short story collection The Acid House. Welsh himself wrote the screenplay, and appears as a minor character in the film.

  • The 1998 film, directed by Paul McGuigan, dramatises three stories from the book:

The Granton Star Cause is a comedy, where Boab is having a very bad day indeed. His parents throw him out so they can indulge in sado-masochism and he is sacked from his job, dumped by his girlfriend and dropped from his football team. It has elements of Franz Kafka's The Metamorphosis, as a pitiless God who transforms him into a fly as punishment for wasting his life.

  • A Soft Touch: Kevin McKidd plays a cuckolded husband while Gary McCormack is Larry, the ruthless upstairs neighbour who steals his electricity and his wife, played by Michelle Gomez.

The Acid House: An acid trip and a bolt of lightning result in amiable schemie Coco Brice exchanging places with the baby of a middle class couple.

  • All three sections are independent, but are linked by setting and by the reappearance of incidental characters, in particular Maurice Roëves who appears variously as an inebriated wedding guest, a figure in a dream, and a pub patron. All three of his parts symbolize a human manifestation of God.

  • The film offended elements of the UK tabloid press with a depiction of a cynical and jaded, foul-mouthed God, and in some countries (such as Canada and the United States) has been shown on television with subtitles because of most characters' heavy Scottish accents.

  • @dulthejaing it is from movie - acid house - three storys... it made artists who also made trainspotting

  • @dulthejaing THE ACID HOUSE

  • all i do in media arts is make piano recording of this on garageband

  • I am VERY VERY glad to hear that this kind of bands still roam the place to light our days and smoke out our nights.

  • Best quote I have seen in a while. Heck yes! I love youtube for keeping music like the Pastels alive.

  • Yeah, thanks. The only problem is that I seldom enough go to England to get a new shitload of this brilliant sound. It's not bad where I live (Switzerland), so recently we got Primal Scream, and in January, Mr. Ian Brown will give us the honours. But for the Full Monty, we still have to come over. Which definitely isn't bad at all.

  • i used to play this all the time on college radio back when it first came out (a long time ago) but i didn't know the term "twee" and i also used to feature puzzle pieces by tiger trap also but that came a little later. last i heard the lead singer guy was working at a music/guitar store somewhere in england.

  • The best and I mean the best ever! Steven, you are a wee genius.

  • The best ever. the most of all. The bigger one. No one ever...USA comentaries... : */

  • Best guitar solo of all time.

  • This is my ringtune

  • Does anybody have and are willing to email Pastel MP3's? This are still severely underrated and thus difficult to find. Thanks

  • and now a german text .höhö... ich habe diesen song "damals" sehr geliebt und komm auch noch aussa gegend...simply nothing to be done....

  • this is my most fave song fer daaayyyys now! when do they play in the bay area? brianspunday!xoox

  • You lucky! I used to live in SF.... I do not not if they still play live.

  • I will see them soon in Paris. I'm so happy!!!!!!

    I absolutely love this band

  • REALLY!?!?! LUCKY!

  • Yeah! I know.

  • If kurt loved the Beatles and The Vaselines, he would LOVE the pastels. i love you kurt.

  • Why would? He actually did.

  • oh dude really? where'd u learn that?

  • For instance english wikipedia :

Interviews with Cobain were often littered with references to obscure performers like The Vaselines, The Melvins, Daniel Johnston, The Meat Puppets, Young Marble Giants, The Wipers, Flipper, Butthole Surfers, Captain Beefheart, The Pastels, The Shaggs, Frightwig (of who he wore a t-shirt of during his MTV Unplugged performance), Billy Childish and The Raincoats. Besides, the Pastels and the Vaselines are very close, Stephen created the label that produces TV

  • wow dude, thanks! :) :)

  • THESE GUYS DIDNT MAKE A WORLD CHANGE LIKE NIRVANA?!?!?!?!?!!?! THEY FUCKING DESERVE THAT! holy shit! my life just changed!

  • Excellent band !! awesome sound !!

  • who is on the cover of that cd?

  • The bass player (Aggi) and the drummer (katrina)!

  • Where are they now?

  • aggi split and the band now plays occasional shows in and around scotland.

  • reminds me always of the acid house. fuck me, this is a nice tune!!
