@Hafizur44 As Salaam Alaikum, The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) did not make a habit of going into detail when teaching things that were obvious to his companions. When it came to prayer he simply told them to pray as you have seen me pray. This can be found in many of the books of Hadith, you can search the books of sahih Bukari, Muslim etc to find this narration. The hadiths containing number of rakats can also be read in Bukari book 8 ( the Characteristics of Prayer). I hope this helps. Salaam

@KadabraAraba I'm not saying that. what I'm trying to say is that many of you prayers are good people. and you pray 5 times a day. what if you didn't commit any sin between two of those? you would still ask for forgiveness for something you didn't do. that doesn't make sence to me. and if you commit a sin I personally don't think a prayer is the answer to the issue. if you done something wrong. instead of pray to allah (which there is no evidence for that he exists), go and correct your misstake

I remember when I was 20 I was a model, we was taking pictures and for some reason I never wanted to take picture uncovered. When he went into his 3rd Rakat (that was the 3rd one right? at 4:00) and read Surah Al-Fatiha how come he didn't read another Surah after it...do you not have to? I'm still learning to read Namaz
@MultiEquality well basically with every prayer the *3rd* and *4th* Rakat, you dont say a surah you just say AL Fatiha and go staright on without a surah, thats why he didnt say a surah :) Hope that helped :)

you don't suppose to tie your hand while you pray!! when Mohammad asked people to come and pray in mecca those people who use to warship ( statues ) came and start praying and their hand was tie. SO Mohammad wanted to make sure they are not holding or hiding statue while they pray handtie. as a result Mohammad told them to open their hand , so when they open their, the statues that they were holding fall down. @CanBalash The head covering in none compulsory. He is in a mosque where you don't need any praying mats since all mosques are clean and pure and the patterns on the carpet points towards the kaaba so that one knows where to stand and which way to face.

Yes, Al fatiha is recited without a quranic surah after it only in the last two rakahs of every prayer. So in fajr prayer (2 rakahs) both rakahs need a quranic surah. In dhuhr prayer (4 rakahs) the first two rakahs with a quranic surah, the next two with al fatiha only. In Asr prayer (4 rakahs) its the same as Dhuhr prayer. In Maghreb prayer (3 rakahs) the first two rakahs need a quranic surah, the third rakah is with fatiha only. The Isha prayer is the same as Dhuhr and Asr.
I thought that you were supposed to say "rabi ighfeerli" 3 times during the first 3 rakaa's and once during the last rakaa. Also, I thought that you were supposed to move your finger up and down while saying the tasha7ud. Is that correct?
@queennesreen After every two rakaahs. Fajr only has two, Dhur has 4 (so after two, you say it, and then say it again after the next two), and the rest of the prayers are the same (as Dhur) save maghrib which is 3 rakaahs, and you say it after 2 rakahs and also after the last one rakah.

I have also not been praying for a long time and first it seemed hard. But the important is to try. Trying is better than not doing it. When I first started I first learned how to perform it, and then I wrote the words down on a small paper I put in front of me on the floor, so I could read from it. Since I read the same over and over again I eventually learnt it although I don't know much Arabic. I advice you to do the same.

I first started praying in english till about a few days ago. i know a few words in arabic the rest I recite in my head in arabic as i hear the words.if i keep hearing the words over and over, i know 1 day I'll know all the words in arabic, but dont try to shorten prayer. I dont think that would be a good way to learn. If you at least try to recite prayer in arabic Allah will reward you for it. what i do is ask Allah to give me the knowlege to learn arabic. insha Allah 1 day i'll learn

I believe there is something with the belly-button that needs to be covered with the left hand while standing to seek Allah's attention when I pray .
Not covering my belly-button with my hands I feel like my private part is showing. Remember that showing of belly-button is almost the same like showing private parts (penis or vagina).
I place my hands on the stomach, right on the spot of the belly-button. One Hadith says prophet Mohammad (PBUH)placed his hands there while another one says he placed his hands on the chest area...like the guy in the video. Scholars say both places are ok. I think the better way to know is to try both ways and see which one you feel more comfortable with or which one seems more logical.

@MultiEquality well basically with every prayer the *3rd* and *4th* Rakat, you dont say a surah you just say AL Fatiha and go staright on without a surah, thats why he didnt say a surah :) Hope that helped :)

@missdramamama007 Juma, which literally translates to Friday is the most religious day of the week for Muslims (similar to Saturday for Jews and Sunday for Christians). Muslim men are obligated to pray the afternoon prayers (refered to as Zuhr) in the mosque with the congregation. The Imam or preacher also gives a sermon and the prayers or namaz is shorter than the regular Zuhr prayers.. If a person misses their Juma prayer then they are obligated to do the regular Zuhr prayers.

you don't suppose to tie your hand while you pray!! when Mohammad asked people to come and pray in mecca those people who use to warship ( statues ) came and start praying and their hand was tie. SO Mohammad wanted to make sure they are not holding or hiding statue while they pray handtie. as a result Mohammad told them to open their hand , so when they open their, the statues that they were holding fall down. That is why now when you pray you suppose to pray with hand open not with hand tie!!!

@CanBalash The head covering in none compulsory. He is in a mosque where you don't need any praying mats since all mosques are clean and pure and the patterns on the carpet points towards the kaaba so that one knows where to stand and which way to face.

Yes, Al fatiha is recited without a quranic surah after it only in the last two rakahs of every prayer. So in fajr prayer (2 rakahs) both rakahs need a quranic surah. In dhuhr prayer (4 rakahs) the first two rakahs with a quranic surah, the next two with al fatiha only. In Asr prayer (4 rakahs) its the same as Dhuhr prayer. In Maghreb prayer (3 rakahs) the first two rakahs need a quranic surah, the third rakah is with fatiha only. The Isha prayer is the same as Dhuhr and Asr.

@queennesreen After every two rakaahs. Fajr only has two, Dhur has 4 (so after two, you say it, and then say it again after the next two), and the rest of the prayers are the same (as Dhur) save maghrib which is 3 rakaahs, and you say it after 2 rakahs and also after the last one rakah.

I have also not been praying for a long time and first it seemed hard. But the important is to try. Trying is better than not doing it. When I first started I first learned how to perform it, and then I wrote the words down on a small paper I put in front of me on the floor, so I could read from it. Since I read the same over and over again I eventually learnt it although I don't know much Arabic. I advice you to do the same.

I first started praying in english till about a few days ago. i know a few words in arabic the rest I recite in my head in arabic as i hear the words.if i keep hearing the words over and over, i know 1 day I'll know all the words in arabic, but dont try to shorten prayer. I dont think that would be a good way to learn. If you at least try to recite prayer in arabic Allah will reward you for it. what i do is ask Allah to give me the knowlege to learn arabic. insha Allah 1 day i'll learn

I place my hands on the stomach, right on the spot of the belly-button. One Hadith says prophet Mohammad (PBUH)placed his hands there while another one says he placed his hands on the chest area...like the guy in the video. Scholars say both places are ok. I think the better way to know is to try both ways and see which one you feel more comfortable with or which one seems more logical.
