i tried several in the 100-250 dollar mark and i finally settled on the kicker ik500. it was def the best i heard. not only does it have plenty of great sound that i can hear clearly down the road while its in my garage but i can also hook up my multi media speakers that has a dedicated 8in sub through the aux out on the rear.

The BOSE sound dock didn´t pass the first round? This test can´t be trusted. I had the chance to compare the BOSE and the B&W. The B&W Zeppelin is the Best but the BOSE do sound realy good. Considering the BOSE is half the price its certanly a good pick.

Quit talking crap about kicker. The iK501 pounds the living crap out of bose and any other dock not to mention the great price too. You get great sound quality and that classic low end that you expect from kicker.

Kicker might have big boom, but its the worst sound quality sub you can ever get. It's made for SPL and not sound quality, if you want quality go with JL.

Kicker makes high quality subs that pound. Their ik500 is the most high quality iPod dock around and it's half the price of any Bose. Not only is it good but extremely loud like most kicker products. You have to scream to be heard when you're in a room with one of these things playing. You might want to check them out. Kicker is top brand just as JL is but it's for people that want high quality along with spl.

They test the old Bose system on this show. The SDP from Bose is prob second best Ipod dock out there audio wise (zepplin is the best) however it is a hell off a lot smaller and with a battery to carry round makes it my 1st choice.

The Zeppelin is by far the BEST iPod dock ever created. The brilliance of it is that it makes even 128kb encoded MP3s sound AWESOME!

The bass is ridiculous and the highs are stunning. There's more details here than any iPod speaker you can imagine. This is basically an introduction to "hi-fi".

I suggest you listen to the logitech z5500 Home theatre multi media speakers. Can play your ipod, iphone, tv, pc, xbox, ps3, home cinema. The sound from it, is amazing and half the cost of the Zeppelin. Don't beleive me, well type logitech z5500 in and see for yourself. Read the comments. I've had many ipod docks and this is the best by a mile and it go's very very loud!

It seems odd that an ipod dock is capable of hitting 100dB at 3m or so. I may have an overly loud view of decibels, but I thought 100dB was a live band or a practice amp on full blast (seeing as continuous 85dB is said to cause hearing loss over the years, and sound loudness roughly doubles every 10dB)

This review is full of crap. This is what i call biased reviewing of products. Of the 5 speakers only griffin entered the list, worst of all it's at number 5. Griffin is a US based company, and guess what the top 4 speakers are all made by UK based companies, is that a coincidence? i'm pretty these reviewers are from the UK, obviously by their accent. I think Bose Sounddock and Altec Lansing IM7 should have been on the list, and include Logitech Pure fi elite. Don't believe ths review. CRAP!

I would think that even most uneducated people would be able to hear when something sounds distorted or "wrong" or rubbishy, just as they may not be educated chefs, but can tell when something tastes distasteful, or can discern decent ingredients from shitty ones. I know that doesn't stop most people eating mc-donalds or buying stupid shit....but I suspect that's more lack of effort/money/time etc. Anyway, curious....

Yes the B&w is one of the best but the ones i have mentioned here are all very good. I have heard all these speakers and know they are better than your top 5 apart from the B&W.
