Dang this brings back memories. I came back from braking my back the third match of my senior year and being miraculously healed. And I was the first wrestler in my school's history to make it past 6th place in state so I had the whole stadium cheering for me too in finals. I kinda know how he feels on a much smaller scale. It doesn't matter how many people you've inspired... Losing your state match still sucks. You can see him holding back the tears when they recognize him after the tournament.
This truly is an inspiration. But he probably is in a 119, 125 weight class right? The reason why he dominates is because he has the amazing strength of a 215.

first of all, probably 30% of the comments are trashy. why trash talk a kid who obviously has a disadvantage. (no offense Dustin). i give this kid a ton of credit for doing what he does. its hard enough to advance to states after district and region rounds, let alone doing it with no arms or legs. so stop with the pathetic comments and move on.
Two part comment: part one... This kid has courage, spirit, yada yada yada and all the "feel good" comments.
Part two: For those who know the sport of High School wrestling...you win by either a pin or by points. The most points come from take down and escapes. There is no way to earn a take down with this kid but he can certainly escape at will. You use an opponents limbs (half-nelson, chicken wing, cradle) etc to pin someone. So all he has to do is stall and escape to win a match.
even tho u look at him and say he is crippled and all that but when u think about the wrestling aspect of it he has the body of a 145 - 160 pound wrestler its the fact he doesn't have his arms n legs that let him wrestle 118 - 125 who have less muscle and pure power
It takes heart and dedication to be a wrestler and an athlete period. Its amazing to see someone do whats he does. And alot of people take forgranted the fact they can walk and just have normal lives. Thanks for the video and god bless.
Okay...Let's be realistic...First of all he wrestles probably around 103 because of his missing limbs. If he had everything he may as well be in the 140's-150's range so he can eat up most 103's that step onto the mat.Most of them are merely freshman that have no idea what's going on anyways.
Besides all that...There has to be some reason he made it into the State Tournament. I mean you have to place 4th-1st in Sectionals and then 4th-1st in Districts. He won matches against decent wrestlers
This was truly an inspiration ( hence the title name ) to me due to the fact that I used to wrestle myself a few years ago. It's amazing what the Lord can do in people's lives. It just goes to show that no matter what circumstance(s) come(s) to our lives there is good and a purpose in it. I am definitely going to email this to many of my friends. this is inspiring, even though he gives on height, weight and length, hes still as technical and as agile or even more agile than any other wrestler there.
who the hell cares about how you are "supposed to wrestle him"....its not about that, its about the fact that even though he has a disability, he and anyone for that matter can achieve the goals you set out for....
This kid has a lot of heart and courage to compete in a game that heavily relies on limb use. on top of that he is not ashamed of the cards he was dealt and is not embarrassed to give it his all in a very public environment where many people with his condition would be traumatized.

His freshman year he was terrible and went 5-15, but like a true champion Dustin never gave up and worked even HARDER.
His senior season was the reward for all that hard work.

As a freshman Dustin only won 5 matches out of 20 matches.
He wasn't very good, but he didn't give up. Dustin worked harder and finally qualified for State as a Senior.

Part two: For those who know the sport of High School wrestling...you win by either a pin or by points. The most points come from take down and escapes. There is no way to earn a take down with this kid but he can certainly escape at will. You use an opponents limbs (half-nelson, chicken wing, cradle) etc to pin someone. So all he has to do is stall and escape to win a match.

Okay...Let's be realistic...First of all he wrestles probably around 103 because of his missing limbs. If he had everything he may as well be in the 140's-150's range so he can eat up most 103's that step onto the mat.Most of them are merely freshman that have no idea what's going on anyways.
Besides all that...There has to be some reason he made it into the State Tournament. I mean you have to place 4th-1st in Sectionals and then 4th-1st in Districts. He won matches against decent wrestlers

He had to win matches to place in District competition, to earn the right to go to the State competition.
He is wrestling the best competition in the State in this video and holding his own.
He beat and pinned many wrestlers, in his career, and I guarantee he would make short work of a little worm like you!

This was truly an inspiration ( hence the title name ) to me due to the fact that I used to wrestle myself a few years ago. It's amazing what the Lord can do in people's lives. It just goes to show that no matter what circumstance(s) come(s) to our lives there is good and a purpose in it. I am definitely going to email this to many of my friends. You would think that the lower weight classes would have wrestlers with a lot more skill, at least judging from my experience as a wrestler.
I think he wrestled at 103 pounds, which would be the lowest weight class in high school wrestling.

This kid has a lot of heart and courage to compete in a game that heavily relies on limb use. on top of that he is not ashamed of the cards he was dealt and is not embarrassed to give it his all in a very public environment where many people with his condition would be traumatized.
