Does the long train need 3 engines?

It doesn't need 3 engines. I just prefer to have several engines on a train. However, with the lead car (a Walthers track cleaning boxcar), it does need at least 2 to make it up the grades.

As for the lines, for me to have an over/under operation and have a decent amount of scenery, I had to sacrifice some additional track.
