  • I was here in 3rd grade and the night before my standardized testing

  • we need a version of this of land of hope and dreams and then people get ready, the ultimate combo song of hope

  • It's evident just how happy Bono and the boys are to have Bruce on stage playing with them! BRUCE IS THE BOSS AND THERE'S NO DENYING IT!!

  • @jesuisreed CURTIS MAYFIELD & THE IMPRESSIONS. Check it out!

  • NEW YORK - THEY'RE GONNA SHED SOME TEARS.....

TFF, great, Bono - well done!

  • c'mon, c'mon. Let's just chill. I grew up on U2.

But then came college, I discovered Bruce, his lyrics. I still love U2, but The Boss, is without peer. You know what I'm talking about if you've read his lyrics. If you've tried for even one day to write something meaningful, you will understand his absolutely effortless, unpretentious and unique genius.

I love U2. They're my my childhood. The Boss is a prophet, a religion, with a voice that like all good things takes a little getting used to.

  • what you have here, is 2 world class artists from the other side of the world......HEY if they can respect each other .....WHY THE HELL CANT WE

  • This is a true appreciation of both singers, nothing else. It's a U2 concert, so obviously The Boss is gonna get a big cheer when he sings. Otherwise U2 outsell Bruce in every other way. Google the facts...sceptics!!1

  • People comparing Bruce singing to Bono - first of all two different styles - second Bruce is ten years older then Bono, go listen to Springsteen on Born to Run or DOTEOT and compare voices.

Third - Bono idolizes Bruce - I doubt it's the other way around.

  • @headly66 They shouldn't be compared at all, really. Bono's not even anywhere near in the same league as Bruce in any aspect...

  • @KleWdSide

Yeah hes' not in the same league as Bruce except popularity, album sales, vocal talent, and relevance.

    U2 are right.

  • the boss what else :D

  • This is one of those MAGIC MOMENTS in GREAT ROCK MUSIC where two GIANTS do the ROD STEWART/JEFF BECK ARRANGEMENT of a cover of THE IMPRESSIONS 60's hit. Bono's ohhohohoh is a vocalization of JEFF BECK's guitar RIFF in the song. You won't find Justin Bieber or Lady Gaga doing this kind of MAGIC!

  • No bad thoughts about U2 here, but Bruce will always be Bruce. Just listen to the crowd when he starts signing!

  • Bruce and Bono in a song how people can better!

  • the ministry of rock and roll will save you

  • Bad ass shit!!!!

    God bless camera phones!

  • jenizaro, you obviously have no clue what you're talking about - bruce long preceded bono as a rock star and will long outlive him in terms of influence - it's not even a fair comparison. and don't even get me started on their relative class and humility - bono doesn't have an ounce of either compared to bruce. and if you want crowd participation, try seeing a bruce show. he taught everyone how it's done. glad you think bono's so magnificent, but there's a reason the crowd chants "bruuuuuuce".

  • @alyse1969 I agree with you 100% Don't ever compare Bruce with Bono.Although both of them are living LEGENDS in their own mite,Bruce is the ultimate BOSS,the uncrowned king of the rock and will continue to do so.Don't ever compare

  • @alyse1969 well, well, well i guess you must be american, jejjee. NOO ROCK BAND HAS EVER TOPPED U2s ZOO TV. for sure hommie, NOOOOO ROCK BAND DID THATTTTTTTTTTT BEFOREEEE!!!. AS I SAID BEFORE, BONOS VOICE SOUNDS HEAVENLY, BRUCES VOICE SOUNDS LIKE IF HE HAS SMOKED CIGARRETES ALL HIS LIFE, PLEASEEEEE DONT YOU DARE TO COMPARE BONOS VOICE WITH BRUCEEEEEEE. APART FROM THAT, THIS SHOW WAS HELD IN EEUU. BRUCE WAS AT HOME. BUT BONO, HE IS A WORLWIDE ICON SINGER.

  • @jenizaro3322 Wrong - Bruce has far more fans around the word then U2

Tons of bands have done better then ZOO TV - look it up.

Bono would kill to have pipes like Bruce.

  • @headly66 hahaha funny guy

  • SIMPLY THE BEST, WHAT CAN I SAY ABOUT THIS GUY (BONO), HE PROVES THAT HES GOT A HEAVENLY VOICE, AND NOT JUST THAT, THERES MORE.... HE CAN MAKE A FANTASTIC SONG INTO A WAY BETTER, ONLY BY ADDING THE OHOHOOHOOHO, ISN IT GREAT???. THE OHOHOHOHO MAKES THE AUDIENCE PARTICIPATE IN THE SHOW, BESIDES BONOS HUMILITY, HE TREATS BRUCE LIKE HE IS THE ROCK STARRRR, BUT NONONONONONO, THE REAL ONE IS BONO.

  • Bono, the guy on your left is the one with all the class. Pay attention.

  • u2 is just the best band ever..

  • This is one of my favorites and I love the comroderie and musical rhythm and lyrics-

  • I was there. One of the best experiences of my life. U2 RULES

  • omg bruce is fit as fire i would xxxxx wooooooo

  • becomes sublime at 4:20

  • awsome was at the concert as medical staff. Bruce was there because Little Steven and his band were the opening act

  • @kfire9922

Pretty sure Damien Marley opened this show.

  • @kfire9922 damien marley and some of his brothers opened the show...I was right behind the stage when I saw patti and bruce walking underneath...they walked right up the steps in front of me...and bruce was his typical rockin mess :)

  • Wow....

  • it does'nt get any better than this!!!!!!!

  • that was the best concert moment of my life! Simply awesome!~

  • Ah... U2 is awesome, so is Bruce. I don't pity anybody... except the people who missed this show (like me)

  • great post - but bono, lose the hat - if jeff beck would just step in to solo it would be perfect.

  • U just have to feel sorry for the guys in U2 here they are just totally up staged by the boss

  • I was at this show! I was at the U2 concert the night before at the same stadium, and he invited a stranger out of the audience to join them on stage. This night, he said, "who wants to come on stage and play my guitatr, does Bruce Springsteen wanna play my guitar?!" I could not believe it!!

  • i took my niece to this show...we were right behind the stage when patti and bruce came up the steps...i almost shyt...haha!!

  • poor bono. lol Nobody sings like boss

  • Wondering if Bruce will make a surprise appearance at the U2 show here in Philly in July..one can hope?

  • @scrapplecheesesteak that would be awesome!

  • Look at the guitar player with the black hat. He looks like he's going to pick-pocket Bruce. Looks sneaky

  • what year was this?

  • @lupykirby

    2005

  • @lupykirby 2005

  • 2005 Vertigo tour.

  • I was there for this concert, and the place went wild when he appeared on the stage with his musical friends for this rendition of "People Get Ready." The biggest and best band with the hometown music genius= great concert.

  • he's a funky brother, great solo by bruce on bono's guitar that's so cool, the boss is back in philly.

  • They all look so young! ;-)

  • bruce bruce bruce

  • Not a bad concert..

  • these guys??? U2 is the proper way of referring yo them =] and the boss

  • Magic (now where have I heard that before ;-).

  • never get tired of hearing the philly crowd reaction to bruce - warms my heart.

but to clarify other viewers comments, it wasn't 50k fans - 20k max. and i suspect that guitar is bruce's, not bono's. but just a hunch.

  • Don't know, but I'm pretty sure that in Berlin just two months ago, Bono had the same guitar... well of course, there are many green guitars like that :)

  • This is fact - not a hunch. It's a Gretsch White Falcon - custom made for Bono and the only green one they ever made.

  • It's Bono's guitar.

  • So glad I found this video, as I was there and this just reminds me of what a great night it was. Damien Marley opened for them also....Great night all around!!

  • My two musical gods together...

I'd expect nothing less than perfection, and my expectations were surpassed.

    Brilliant job.

  • Bruce on Bono's guitar

  • Love Burce.... Like U2, but them together and you got magic

  • Not booing....yelling BRUUUUUCE

  • We were there ..could not figure out why they would "boo" U2....lol...it was great

  • And fifty thousand U2 fans shit their pants.

    Only natural.

This is really awesome by the way.

  • Sublime. I wish I would have been there...

  • Good vocal from Bruce Aswell of course.

  • Good vocal from Bono.

  • I thought I heard booing and then realized they were saying B-R-U-C-E .. B-R-U-C-E....lol

They looked like they sure had fun playing together. Lucky those who got to be there.

  • Nice, but would have been better had the blow-off not been chopped at the end. I'll prefer to think the person with the camera had the battery die on him/her.

  • People get ready /

Cause the Boss is in town

  • Great Bruce

  • i saw the boss back in 1985 at roundhay park in leeds -england , absolutely amazing, he is the king and the BOSS

  • Bono is amazing but only one can be The Boss........Love them both :-)

  • you are right there is only one Boss.

    Ross The Boss

Ask Bruce he will tell you

Ross the Boss = guitar god

  • I've died and gone to heaven - thank you guys!

  • They were shouting Bruuuuuce. I've seen the Boss a few times, but I thought the fans were booing him the first time I saw him live! The two best live artists ever!

  • This is a perfect performance:

You have the best band in the world U2, with a rock god The BOSS(no wait, meaybe just a god!), Bono lending Bruce his sweet guitar, and great passionate vocals from both of them.

But please tell me those weren't boos at 3:24

  • No. The crowd screams BRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCE!

  • OH thank god! He is sooo awesome!

  • Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuce

  • Listen to the crowd!!! The Boss has proved it once and for all who is THE BOSS....and Bono isn't exactly a rookie :)

  • Ha ha, I think Bruce has the advantage with a Philly or a Jersey crowd...Boston, now that's a different story (and we don't exactly hate Bruce here, either).

  • That was nice. Quite a night in Philly from two giants of the 80's.

  • nice vid,

I don't think Bruce needed a green Gibson.

  • thats a gretsch dude

  • two of the best singers in the industry

  • No boos - Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuce !!

  • That guitar is Bonos

  • been to 21 Springsteen shows and never seen this green guitar. Wonder if Bono let him keep it

  • weel he's only playing telecasters at his own shows so no wonder you haven't seen it :P

  • i'm sitting right behind the stage!! we watched bruce climb up the steps!! he is so awesome!!

  • i believe bruce is a step above god.....just look at this crowd whose at a U2 concert giving a bigger ovation for him than the band

  • You can criticise Bruce Springsteen all day if you like but people who understand music know your opinion isn't important.

  • OMG, just found this. I was there that nite. Truly amazing !!!!

  • wasnt it?!

  • I was there and what a treat....I'll never forget that night. It was amazing!!

  • i was with ya!!

  • Wow, a major bum not from the Edge at 2:41! I never thought I'd hear that! This is still great tho!

  • Bruce is pretty cool too? Hes the Boss, which either a step below god or a step above god i cant decide

  • agree on the weakish solos but the boss did do some blues riffin'...that's Bono's Gretsch Irish Falcon right? (signature African debt version)

  • How much were those seats? As great as I think Edge and Bruce are, their improvised solos were a bit weak. I want that Gretsch.

  • I wish I could get this on cd

  • darkness on THE EDGE of town!

  • Passion in their singing. Some sing just words but only those with passion can sing songs. Sounds crazy but think about it.

  • I COULDVE BEEN THERE, my dumb ass, but my friends were and they said it was awesome beyond words, 10 feet from the ellipse, said they could see the veins in bono's neck

  • This is sweet! U2 simply rocks, and Bruce is pretty cool too :)

  • I was at this show and on the floor, but not inside the circle. What a treat to be able to see it again and again on YouTube. What's funny is this was a Sunday & Monday night pair of shows and this happened on the Monday night. People who went to the Sunday show were soooo bummed! God bless Bono, God bless Brooooooooce.....!

  • is bruce playing Bono's guitar?

  • you're right

  • yes. that's Bono's gretsch which he uses for One, Walk on, The Fly... aso.

  • Bruuuuuuce!

  • God bless you Bruce. Legend

  • Great sound for the phone.

What p---es me off is that I missed what was probably the first time they performed together at old JFK stadium(Joshua Tree) because a girl in our party was understandably anxious to get back to her newborn kid. That came back when Springsteen inducted U2 to the RRHOF. AAaarghh!!!

  • the boss with bonos guitar ; )

  • Philly is the greatest city for concerts

    Live Aide 4 ever 1985 !!

  • My favourite singers in my favourite city! Thanks for uploading this video!

  • legends on stage together

    amazing

  • I was there at the Wachovia Center that night ... simply amazing!!!!!

  • it's called people get ready...

  • I was Bono for wax museum at school.

  • GOOD FOR YOU

  • whats the name of this song ??

  • Macapple21 - Any any Springsteen concert, the fans yell, Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuce! They're very unlikley to be booing him at the U2 show.

  • People need to check out Bruce between 1978 and 1981 to see some guitar playin"

  • i always thought bruce wasn't that exeptional of a guitar player but i must say, I like his style. He is the BOSS :-)

  • Wow! Awesome! And Bruce is playing on Bono's guitar. The "Goal is Soul guitar". :D

Bono probably said again: "Who likes to play my guitar!?.. Bruce Springsteen likes to play my guitar!!". :D

  • Non ci credo.

Pensa essere al concerto degli U2 e ti sale Bruce sul palco. Potrei morire.

  • Am i the only, who have notised, the way Bono pushes Edge away in the beginning of the song, Bono can somtimes apear to be a very obnoxious.

  • i don't know how you can think he is pushing him away. he is simply touching his shoulder to say, "I need to get to my mic". not that strange when you are the lead singer wouldn't you say :-)?

  • Maybe your right, but don't misunderstand me, i'm a big! U2, and Bono fan, but Edge is my favorite ;-)

By the way, I think it's a bit imbarrassing, that people are booing at Springsteen

  • they are yelling Bruuuuuuce :-). I made that same mistake :-)

  • Thanks for the Laugh HAHA! They are surley not booing the Boss the going Bruceeeeeeeeeeee. He is the man!

  • WOW!! THANKS BRUCE! AND BONO

  • does that look like the 80's u moron!

  • I was at this show in Philly in 1989. It was at JFK before they tore it down and before Bruce, U2 also brought some no name guy out of the crowd who played. I bet that guy told his friends the next day and they said...yeah, sure...you played with U2 Amazing.

  • dude, this show is from just a few years ago, 05 or 06 a clip from bruce and U2 singing stand by me when bono had a broken are from that show at JFK, which was in late Aug or early Sept 1987, is also here on youtube...find it and get your facts straight, chump

  • BRUCE I LOVE YOU

  • I love Bruce and Bono! My two faves together!! Yeah!!

  • I was there in the first row second level right about them. It was amazing U2 and Bruce in Philly together everyone went nuts. Thanks for posting this!!!

  • Bruce ......He IS New Jersey!!!! NO ONe will EVER surpass him!!

  • irish + the boss = unreal music!

  • I'm not really a fan of U2, but recalling the words of Churchill "never in the field of the rock music, was so much owned so many to somebodie who plays so few (Edge)" :D. Sorry for my spelling, i´m working on ti.

  • this vid has the end: /watch?v=SXu_Y-UDWHQ

    cant post complete link -.-

  • He's just trying to get the world's governments to act responsibly.........maybe he should lay in bed and smoke crack all day like the rest..........your a genius

  • sissyfuss, guess you need a little more time to think about a few things, though your point IS interesting..

  • !!!!

  • I love it when the music nazis come out of the woodwork. I have been a musician for 20+ years, everyone knows Curtis Mayfield did this originally with the Impressions. If you can't see or hear this is incredible I can't help you. They are playing a packed stadium like it is a backyard get together. This is like a jam session you have with friends.

  • My goodness, you're talking about music Nazis here?? Whhhhhere?? You shure you understand everything that's written, and use the right words?

  • I don't know if you understood my statement but it was a complement on the performance. If you didn't think was great well, that is your opinion.

  • well then don't put the word "nazi" in it, please; that would be so nice.. and apropriate: I don't see how you can asociate "nazis" with something positive.. or, did I miss something?

  • "nazi" small n has become synonymous with extremist. If you prefer I can use the word "elitist". My point was to say how much I enjoyed this performance of a great song by musicians that can make a stadium seem like a small get together, a very difficult thing to accomplish.

  • allrighty then, thanx for the explanation, and i appologize for my judgement..

    cheers,

    h

  • No problem man, I just wish I had been at that show :)

  • Fantastic chemistry

  • Too bad Bob Marley wasn't alive to jump in and save these legends. What do they say about good intentions???

  • curtis mayfield has nothing to worry about.

  • ok, here's the deal. i've been a springsteen fan since 1975 but this version is crap.see curtis mayfield before you reply.

  • I forgot....Bruce's wife Patti also came up on stage at the end... I remember Bono singing about her in his own verse haha

  • I forgot how good is was! I was there at the tip of the ellipse front row sadly though Ithe night before i was front center inside the ellipse right in front of Bono's mic.....I had fun with the great fans!...I can't wait for them to come back so i get to see everybody again!

  • why on earth would someone cut the end of this off? Good Lord

  • funny shit freetobefreddy italia 90 "its Timofte against Bonner"

  • my two favorite bands ever together.

  • Is Bonner, whoops I mean Bono rom Ireland or Texas?

  • Ireland

  • I wish I could hear better what Bono's saying about Bruce toward the end.

  • I was there. :)

  • y r they boing in parts of the song?

  • as the saying goes, "they're not booing, they're saying 'Bruuuuuuuuuce.'

  • I think I just died a little. A musical orgasm of dramatic proportions has just occurred! lol

  • Your right U2 and Bruce & the E street bands should do a world tour. Those tickets would sell out in about 30 seconds!! My two favourites artists of all time- fucking class
