Looks good. Ever think of putting a Bible verse from the story of Christ in each of the doors? Could be a nice way for a parent to teach the story of Christmas to their children. Just a thought. Keep up the great videos!
@CragarShinoda You could do that with a laser or ink jet printer via some decal paper. But if you use an inkjet, you'll have to be REAL gingerly with your top coat as it will bleed the color. Best practice for that is to lightly dust the surface around 4 or 5 times to build it up slowly.
Laser printer decals do not have this issue and if you have access to a color laser printer you can do any color of text. But as with any laser or inkjet, no white.. Which limits your background color.
Now we know why the store purchased advent calendar cost $75. Lots of work went into this project of yours. I like it but more than one would be very time consuming. Thanks and Merry Christmas!
nice job but I would have gone with one coat of white. when you were first started putting it on at about 13:08 it was cool when it looked like the snow piled on the door.
if i could request video, i would request a apple-press-frame-video. maybe for the next August or so. but, only made with handtools, so that everyone could join and build his own applepress. just an idea for the future.
Marc what may have been easier would've have been a bellagio finish. Basically you put on your base color and let it dry. Then you come back with the top color and brush it on and then wipe it off with a rag or brush depending on the look you're going for.
***SPOILER ALERT*** Repairing your 'grass stains' turned-out to be a good investment. It was acceptable, but I doubt you wanted to see that every holiday like some Sword of Damocles which one day after a few too many egg nog you tried to repair in a fit. The video production was particularly good on this project. I'm uncertain everyone appreciates how much thought and time goes into all the editing you need for these projects. Maybe, one day, you can post a video showing folks the major steps.
Thanks Mark, learned a lot. Especially that I do not want to tackle a project like this one, too tedious with little "man" satisfaction in the end, kwim? LOL Reminds me of when we were first married and my wife roped me into making crafts with her.
I always screw up projects that take me more time than I initially planned to spend.

@CragarShinoda Ironically, I'm an atheist....so no. But for a religious family, that sounds like a fantastic idea!

Next time, you may use a heat gun to burn the green paint before applying the white. This will give you a aged look.
