what equipment are you using? PvE or PvP? Did you stack resilience for damage reduction? Did you stack other things such as defense rating, parry, dodge, block?

Also, can a retribution Paladin do stuff like this? I have a ret Paladin OS prot with 4.5k GS and want Loremaster before cata, got EK but need Kalimdor but for that I will need to kill some raid bosses but cant find a raid so I need to solo, my ret gear is mostly better than my prot gear but is all PvP gear (over 600 resilience)

@jenniferthomas28 This is a very easy fight, all you need is some basic tank gear you can get from 5 man heroics. I'm pretty sure you can do it as Ret too.

Mana wise if you are specd into it Guarded by the Light would be perfect as long as you're swinging. For any that dont know everytime you attack it refreshes divine plea, plus it is unable to be dispelled. Although idk if him consuming your buffs is considered dispelling.

I agree that Sacred Shield is completely unnecessary for a fight like Garr, as a prot pally can literally /afk through the entire fight without ever worrying about dieing.

Under normal circumstances though, SS is most definitely worth keeping up 100% of the time. SS is affected by spellpower, meaning a tankadins self cast SS will absorb typically a little over 2k damage.

If casted by a healadin, usually a little over 3k. They also stack now.

Yeah, the 100% Divine Plea uptime made things quite alot easier to solo. This movie is a little over a year old and it didn't have the uptime yet. Nevertheless; a good advice for any starting paladin tank. Well... every sensible person should do what you wrote :)

Garr is totaly soloable for a 71 prot paladin (i pugged BT and ZA for some better gear) you can do it before 71 but you dps to slow and you wont be able to kill trash before they respawn(!!!) took me about 40min to kill the guy! you need to do a special rute aswell since your dps is so low you cant kill firelords, you need to lavaswim from the 3rd boss to the entrance to raggys lair then keep to the left run in the middle past a firelord kill the core hounds buy the cave and in the middle! GL =P

Not right when you start farming it. As soon as you get the first binding you can go and pick up the quest in Silithus. Which will require you to get the other binding, 10 elementium bars and kill Ragnaros.

the way i do it is to have two points in guarded by the light so your divine plea never runs out and use seal of light till ads are dead then seal of corruption (or vengence for alliance)

It has been done, though some of the bosses are very hard. Gehennas, in particular, pretty much requires a maxed shadow-resist set. Even Grashnok couldn't do it with his normal set, and his gear is top-notch.

This will help keep a steady flow of mana and life going at all time while your in combat. this will save you mana from having to change seals most of the time. Also make a macro for you "Sacred shield" ( /target "your name" /cast Sacred Shield ) this will help you reduce any damage that you might take from any raid boss or any large groups of mobs. with these tips should save you time while running the raid, i learned these from a friend, you can see the way he has speced for soloing "Tahkune"

DKs should be able to solo lots too. Warriors can pull off Garr too. I have my doubts about shamans tho, Onyxia should work, but thats it.

Hmm, let me do some calculations. About 2k single target DPS, boss with 500k hp. So 500/2=250 seconds = about 4 minutes.

Don't know how hard he hits. A guildie, fury warrior, solo's him too every week. Don't know if he uses tank gear tho. It's worth a try, and if you get too much damage you could try use Figurine of the Collosus trinket, or equip some tank gear.

You can't avoid he's DMG with Fire Reistsance allrdy tried it. Also you have to tank Baron in Garr's room. And you have to clear it all. I think you got around 2-3 sec to run behinde a piller and you wont suffer the Fire Bomb. I've done it twice but only once my self. It took alot of time beacus i had to heal my self alot. I used around 1 Mana pot and Deviane Plea 20-30 times. Its a long and insane fight.

You actually dont have to tank barron in Garr's room and you can actually avoid killing any trash at all. Through the hallway after Garr just to the right is a ledge that runs along the lava where you can pull him (just have to time the pats through the hall) and FR aura does work i did it today.

I was Inside MC today again and found a way to solo Baron aswell, You know the tunnel back to the romm you Find Garr, Kite Baron back. In this room you see alot of Pillers, Everytime he does he's Bomb shit you room behind ethe piller and you wont fly up. Dont know if this is a pug or not. But back at 60 i know this was working aswell.

Won't work anyway, right where his rune thing is, the roof is very low and you will not suffer fall dmg and you can avoid pulling trash, yet the bomb will simply do too much dmg, combined with the mana drain spell which you might not dispell the same second as he applies it to you, i'm pretty sure he's unkillable solo. I had 130 FR from FR aura and the bomb did like 3.5k-5k dmg, and it's up constantly

How long does the fight take, and what spec are you gonna go with to tank baron? if so would you recommend fire resist?

The fight is not long at all, I don't pay attention to the length tho. Might be about 15 mins (maybe less). I've tried Geddon but got my ass handed to me, but he is fairly easy to solo it seems. Just stick to Protection, use seal of wisdome + judgement of light and stack up to 350 fire resist. That should do the job. I'm going to try it next wednesday, and if I succeed it'll show up on my channel too.

It's not a debuff, just an unavoidable instant cast. But well, it's no hassle to rebuff anyways :)
