This review is outdated and I disagree with your review on almost every level. example: the best background music? It has some of the worst back ground music...but i keep it turned off. I love this game and play everyday. I like that the GM's get on and have little contests with you and are interactive with players at least 2 times a week. They are always doing something new and adding something fun every week.

RO still have the best "clan war" system. I see nice games in 2012 but seriously lacks of this tipe of wars, since once you reach max lvl with max items only to play in arenas is realy fucking boring.

WoE or in other games "castle wars" "teritorial wars" is what all mmos should have, I play nostale now, and realy I miss the woe from ro :( I remember when I was defending Kreimhild castle in RO and we was 70 ppl defending and over 200 ppl attaking, good old times :(

iRO has well over 1.5 million players as a community across less legal versions. As an official game the international game (which is almost all Americans now from them previously kicking out Europeans) has around 4,000 active players including bots (which are 90% of the game). But the facebook likes are closer to 50,000. A huge amount of people used to play but stopped cos they weren't good at keeping fans. Those with good P-servers have huge player bases. It's a great game,play it.

@Ridghost FB Likes do not equal active players. Hell, there are services which can get you 100k+ likes on a FB Fan Page. Also the number of people playing on pirated servers is not only nearly impossible to track but irrelevant, since the point is iRo is way less populated than it once was.

not to mention after that there are quests that the NPC Gramps gives in the eden area up to lvl 150 that give quite alot of exp.

@jfreedan lol no they had them then as well. you just didnt know where to look. after 80 the other quest boards are on the 2nd floor, and idk how you didnt know about gramps. he's been there since renewal in 08, giving the quests, (so too were the quest boards)

@Calnonick I'm very sure they did not have anything for higher level players when I made the review. I'm quite positive, in fact. After looking into it the higher level Eden Group stuff was created by the iRo team and does not appear in other versions of RO. Anyone can see these quests were added on 1/12/2012 by simply looking at the "Updates" page on the iRO website, and clicking on the "Eden Group Daily and Equipment Quests" post.

Well,rpg fi~nad, I have to say this is one of your best game reviews. You do a good job pointing out the good the bad and the ugly about RO. I myself both love and hate this game with a passion. However I am a big fan of old school rpgs and besides the botting, KSing, and just generally fucked up shit goin down in this game I still find it to be quite enjoyable...One of the best old school mmorpgs out there. Like they say "New isn't always better."

Excellent video overall and well laid out arguments. It could have done without the expletives. I wasn't too keen on the frequent mispronunciations of words (english/otherwise), but I can't tell if you have a different NorthAmerican location, so I can't lay blame. I do agree with you on the zeny transfer issues. It does get annoying. My favourite analogy is likening RO to having a significant other, because I do tend to play for 6 months straight then rage quit for 6 months: rinse & repeat.

@DollGrownUp Thanks. I still get the itch to play RO every now & then. I supposed with the game f2p I can now, but it's not the same without being part of a guild. My guild stopped playing a long time ago. I guess I don't have the free time to devote to an MMO anymore either. Still, I've got a lot of fond memories and RO Paladins remain one of my favorite classes in any game.

well nice vids and the guide seems nice too, but first, ro gt a bank system, but it is in lighthalzen and only works there, and also you anyways need a merchant to sell trach and vend, and for that the best is a second acount, ro is today a min 2 acount game T.T at least at iro

I have been playing this game for many years, but on private servers.

now i found out that i really wanna try play original ragnarok online, cause it really looks like something else then private servers, i tried to download it and ended up on the european ragnarok online server.

That was a few days ago and it really kinda sucked, there were no renewal, and it was the kinda ragnarok i played 5-6 years ago on private servers...

This game came out in 2004 in Brazil and it had a lot of advertising at the time. Have been playing this game since then, and it's the most amazing online experience I've ever had.

I've never wanted to get into the PvP, but that's probably because my builds center around fighting monsters. I'm glad to see something like Eden group, as opposed to botting, leeching, and exp item quests. People should stop speeding through the game without playing it.

Not to discredit or anything, but there have been a lot of great games I've played that never received a physical release, or started as a Direct to download. "Pop Cap" and "Steam", that follow the Indie vein that turned out as huge hits. Take Torchlight, Plants Vs Zombies (which both actually started as direct to download for a while), Bastion, Terraria, Minecraft, Braid, the list can go on.

Ragnarök is a Swedish/norse word pronounced (UK: /ˈræɡnərɜːk) (Ö=Uhh)

it means "final destiny of the gods"

and is a series of fortold events including a final battle that resulsts in the end of the world.... this also results in large deathnumbers where many gods humans and jättar/jottun/giants die (including the gods Oden(Odin), Tor(Thor), Týr, Freia(Freyr), Heimdall, and Loke(Loki).

@PetrosofSparta Zenny appears in a lot of Japanese games as a fictional currency. It is actually a reference to Dragon Ball. Money in the Dragon Ball universe is called zenny.

I sooo agree with the mailing zenny thing. That really pissed me off and made no sense to me. Also, I do agree that the drop rate should be redone because I am currently pet hunting and the drop rate is just terrible to get the items that is needed to tame pets.

Wow I miss this but only because my community. I tried it again recently and couldn't do anything because I had no idea what to do. I was a 95/50 Agility knight and since they removed the high orcs map I had no idea where to go. I also can't even move him off the Paying server into the free one so I can be on the more populated server. Pity there's so many flaws I really liked this back when I started but all the flaws really wore on me.

@UtushoReiuji That's my attempt at the correct pronunciation. Some people say "rock" but that is mistaken. Ragnarok should actually be spelled with an ö, which makes an 'oo' kind of sound. Ragnarök is the correct spelling, but it's been engrished. At least I attempted to pronounce it correctly.
