  • I know a circassian friend in Istanbul. Whenever she faces something scary she says Viy da Vish. After reading Gogol's story many years later I have always wondered if there is any correlation?

  • @SaitFaik54

No, theres no correlation here. The Russian VIY (VIzhu, VIdet' ) is relative to VIzual, VIdeo and means "the one who sees", kind of a seer.

Your "Viy da Vish" must be in some other language, not relative to Russian.

  • which movie is this? it seems to be about chengiz khan

  • @KOGR11

    Temüjin, to be more exact.

    The film is:

The Blue Wolf: To the Ends of the Earth and Sea (2007)

    directed by Shinichiro Sawai
