the following are a german professor named Hans-Hermann Hoppe contrasting democracy and monarchy... however he also has other lectures on the free trade and free society with neither a democratic state or a monarchical state...very interesting
Fascinating and interesting. However, it's good to remember the scriptures: "I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened, and the dead were judged out of the things written in the books, according to their works" (Rev 20:12) Someday all will stand equally before God. James 2: "Have not faith in Christ, Lord of Glory with respect of persons...Has not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, heirs of the kingdom which he promised to them that love him?
The Austrian Empire is more alive than ever before with the EU, which is the heiress from the Habsburg realm. Gott erhalte, Gott beschutze unseren Kaiser.

@koelschwolf Ivery much agree. As a monarchist I would love to see all former monarchies return to a constitutional monarchy. Such places as France, Portugal, Germany, Italy, Serbia, Russia etc, would all benefit greatly to a return to a government consistent with their historical roots.
@Amadeus1066 A constitutional Monarchy is nothing more than a Republic in disguise, absolutism as demanded by God who is absolute, the divine right of Kings. If you want you can join my new FB (Face book) group it's called "restoration von Habsburg Dynasty" I will be glad to have more people join, through prayer nothing is impossible.
@priest008 I am a true Portuguese Monarchist and Catholic. But I have no nobility title what-so-ever: and honestly, an absolute Monarchy would be dreadful for people such as me (lower middle-class). A Constitutional Monarch serves the people in a much better way than an Absolute Monarch and/ or President. A Monarch must stand above politics, in order to be the "ruler of the political chess-game".
@AvatarMarxon90 It is fortune for my country Britain to have such a Constitutional or Parliamentary monarchy here in the United Kingdom - since our only joint monarchies William III and Mary II gave up most of their power to parliament. Prime Minister did not came up until beinginng of reign of King George I who prefer to live in Hanover, Germany and speak no English!
England and Scotland have absolute monarchies until Cromwell changed things round and his democratic ideas still exist today.
@priest008 Absoluism is hated by many people as seeing it just as tyrants in power, denying them rights to vote and right to make laws, etc.
The last time a king tried to rule in that matter was in Nepal when he abolished parliament and tried to rule himself but many people disagreed with him and he was later deposed when it's parliament voted to make it a republic.
In Blutan, the former king decided to change constitution from absolutism to constitutional monarchy with his son as first king.
@DavBlc7 I know that, which was a sad thing, however there is no point in Monarchy if it is constitutional, the whole point of a King is that he is the law and he is the state through divine intervention. If a person has a different view than to this Catholic doctrine then of course they have every right not to beleive this. Bad Kings have existed as bad Popes have existed and as bad politicians have existed.
Yes, I also favor the return of monarchy both in Austria and in Hungary, so that both countries may again be united under a sole crown. Long live the Emperor! Vive l'Autriche libre!
Republic of Austria is strange. People love the Emperor and Empire ... I wonder why not withdraw the presidency, and replaced it with the Emperor again. I know that the Law of 1957, Otto von Habsburg-Lothringen renounced the throne ... However, I wonder why he's let the Austrians ....
@roman2805 Its the austrian not wanting to accept the past. They have forbidden the use of noble titles, Herr Baron,Furst etcetc...a sad devolpment after 600years of rule.
@roman2805 yes ... listen join my new page on FB (Face Book) it's called "Restoration von Habsburg Dynasty" of course a restoration of the Habsburg Kings would be impossible today, but with prayer nothing is impossible, these where god's Emperors and God has not forgotten them. if you know more people like minded ask them to join too..
@5mnz7fg To have an Emperor is not directly involved with the size of a country. May I remind you that the islands of Tonga have a King, and they're... well, tiny, to say the least? Andorra is a co-principality and is +/- the size of Luxembourg (a Grand-Duchy). The issue here is: if we live in democracy - the Kingdom of Italy made a referedum, and they got kicked out; the same goes for Kingdom of Greece (a little more complicated than Italy). Why don't Republics respect the will of the majority?
@5mnz7fg It would only be an empire if both Austria and Hungary join together again but that is most unlikely cos public in both countries prefer theirs to stay independent. British Empire was OK before world war 2 but now almost long gone apart from a few loyal terrorities and replaced by a Commonwealth.
Your'e right - the only way to re-create an empire is through joining Austria with Hungary but this is now unlikely. If majority of Austrians want an monarchy, it must have to be a constitutional one and not the title of Emperor - instead it will be the title of a King or Queen just like our monarch in Britain.
At present majority of Austrians still want it to stay as a republic, but could still change in future. Only way to change is through a referendum which may unlikely for now.
@roman2805 It will never be the Empire again - cos people prefer a democracy in their country but majority of the public last year decided on last year independent poll to stay a republic.
If people decided on monarchy, it must have to be a constitutional monarchy and not the title of emperor - instead it would be king or Queen of Austria cos it is a small country. Empire means a large country. I doubt if Hungary would unite with Austria cos both prefer independents.
"Jänner"... es heißt Januar! Ihr sprecht unsere DEUTSCHE Sprache, also bitte respektiert auch ihre Gesetzmäßigkeiten.
RIP Carl Ludwig.

Austrians cannot have an emperor because the current territory of Austria is the territory of the former archiduchy of Austria.

The Austran empire is gone. Modern Austria is simply too small for having an emperor.
