Also, why do you say this rifle is best for short to medium distence? With an 18in barrel the .308 should be capable of 500 yd 5 inch groups with ease. Or even better. YankeePrepper demonstrates this with his DPMS AR-10 with just a 16 inch barrel.
I have been seriously thinking about this as my next rifle. But if it can't do long range then I may do something else. I am very curious.
KT's website specs a 32" barrel; however, I'm not sure what the availability on that is. Just a side note, I've been informed that Gen1 RFB's had a 1:11.25 twist. That twist would be my preference in a longer barrel throwing match SMK175s. 32" seems about 8" longer than I'd want for a 7.62 tube. I'd probably get it cut down to 24" and re-crowned.
