  • I am completely with you and agree 100%! Even though I am young, I fully understand what those smokestacks meant for the city - historically speaking. I saw them get demolished to the ground from the New Balance parking lot and a part of my spirit went with it. I wish these types of places were preserved for generations to come - something meaningful to this city. Since a child I've always looked at the smokestacks and it's a big part of me & my remembrance of growing up here. Thanks!

  • In an industrial town, mills and smokestacks are its very imposing landscape. Lawrence MA has a significant industrial past in the US and worldwide. So, mills are as relevant to this city as other monuments in other cities, and are punished for being less famous.

    But fear not, history is torn down every day in every country so there'll be plenty of chances to push the button. Thx for your comments, which zero in precisely on the importance of education regarding history and preservation.
