Copenhagen has a mild climate all year round? Ehm, both winters 2009/10 and 2010/11 were very very cold with lots of snow. And the summers can be very rainy like this July where we had the 7th wettest summer ever recorded. Actually our weather is very shifty at all seasons due to our country being situated between three different climate zones: the Atlantic maritime climate, the European continental climate and the climates of the Scandinavian peninsula and the Baltic countries.
@iDenmark That's about an accurate description of our weather. I also like that you say "USUALLY" mild winters...because that's not always the case. The last two winters were quite cold for a fact.
take this winter for example.. 2010/2011 - the island of Bornholm completely DROWNED in snow.. I watched it as it happened all winter long on vintertrafik.dk where you can watch camcorders live from all over Denmark. Mild? Bahh.. it's snow, snow and.. Ohhh, more snow! This isn't a country you visit for its beaches and for walking around in t-shirts. Only if you come here in June/July maybe, and you're lucky it isn't raining or whatever. So don't show our country the way it is totally not.
Mild? What has she been smoking? It was minus 18 or 20 degrees celsius in 2009 or something here.. We have like 9 bloody months of snow and frost, 2 months of rain and "mild" weather and then 1 month (if we're lucky) of summer, like 30 degrees celsius or something tops.. You're making it sound like we're like somewhere in Greece or whatever. No, we're not. We have an extremely cold weather. We are a Nordic country ffs.
Copenhagen is actually translated into "Merchants Harbor". Which is what it used to be before it turned into the contrys capital city.
Living in CPH is really great. You get used to the easy transportation. About 5$ for a 1 hour ticket for local trains, bus or metro trains.
I often just walk into somwhere in the city either ending up at the beach or the inner city. With my phone with GPS map to guide me if i need to get home fast.
@kriss3d I might go to kopenhagen in jan and watching lots of youtube videos and love the place.you said transportation cost usd 5 for one hour.My God we complain in Newyork for fare being 2.25usd.You can travel for rest of your life for usd 2.25 if you do not come out of the station.
The summers are not always pleasant. We have a coastal climate, so some years the summer just drowns in rain like the summer 2007. Take it from a Dane:)
@tenorplayer09: Yes, Denmark is alright. The changing weather actually has its charm if you can get used to it. And we have a good social security system etc. The taxes are quite high, though. But I guess that's the prize we must pay for having a good social security system.
What I like most about Denmark is the beaches. In Denmark you are never far from a beach. It's great to walk along the shore and listen to the sound of the waves. I myself live a 10 minutes walk from a beach:)
@Vikingen78 It is nice your country has a good Social Security system. By the time I get old in the USA, there won't be any they are saying. I am 52. I am hearing the illegal immigration problem over there is like here in the USA. We have mostly Mexican that enter the country illegally and have babies over here just to stay. They are draining the tax payers dry. How is this subject over there going? I am hoping to marry a Dane I will be meeting soon, very in love with him.
@LoveMusic123211 Not true. Normal temps are 18-23 degrees celsius with a few days of 25-30 degrees celsius. Some summers have quite a few days with 25-30 celsius and lots of sun and some summers the temps are mostly 15-20 celcius with very unstabil weather from the Atlantiv with rain and wind. It's different from summer to summer. This July - for instance - the Copenhagen area drowned in rain due to one low pressure after another sweeping in from souteast dumping large amounts of rain..
@MichaelHundige Firstly i said NORMALLY. Which means MOST OF THE SUMMERS. IS that so hard to understand? Of course some summers are better than others. VMost summer days is between 20-25 a lot 25-30 and a few over 30. I live in central Copenhagen which i have done for about 10 years now. So i know what i am talking about.
@LoveMusic123211 I am born in Denmark and have lived here all my life which is 33 years. And meteorology is one of my big hobbies.
Sure you have some exeprience from living in central Copenagen for ten years. But you need a longer timespan than 10 years to draw a conclusion.. And you said no rain? Well, some summers are just downright rainy...if you live in central Copenhagen you know that's true. Just think about this summer for instance. Remember the beginning of July? Need I say more?
@MichaelHundige Again. Normally. The word normally. NORMALLY the summers are warm with no rain. Ive never said " Yeah here in Denmark when its summer its over 30 degrees and it NEVER rains. All summers are like that. None one bad summer. Not in Denmark. Its like the Sahara really". No. Most of the days around 20-25 a lot around 25-30 and a few over 30 on a normal summer. Some summers are better than others. Do i have to repeat myself one more time?
@LoveMusic123211 I get your point, but ¨why don't you admit that the "normally no rain" claim is a bit wrong? The average amount of precipetation for Copenhagen during the summer months according to the official record from the Danish Meteorological Institute(DMI) is: June 60mm, July 63mm and August 60mm. And that' according to the 30 year average 1960-1990, which is the one used by DMI. So much for "normally no rain" in Copenhagen during the summer. But we won't agree, I guess, so we stop here.
@MichaelHundige Again ive never said that it never rains during the summer. Of course some days it rains. But normally, to me, just means that most of the days it doesnt rain.
@troelsjensjensen OMG not you again troll. Yeah as i said. NORMALLY! Can't you read? Most summers are good. As you said the average temperature is 21 degrees. And i said most of the days 20-25 degrees. You are just repeating what im saying. Btw I still can't stop laughing at your comment that the danes doesn't have souls and are programmed "robots". Hhahahahaha :D Do you then think that you, your friends, your mom, your father and the rest of your family are programmed robots with no souls?
You're like a one-man advertising programme for Dødemark. Look, if the average high in July is 21 degrees, then most days are not between 20-25 degrees! Yes, we can have lovely weather, and temperatures can sometimes be as high as 28 degrees or so. HOWEVER, the AVERAGE is not the hottest! It is the average when taking the temperature throughout the month. When someone says the average HIGH is 21, it means we take the highest temperature of each day in July, and divide by 31!
@troelsjensjensen which mean the average is 21 degrees in July. So most of the days it get up to around 20-25. Why do you have to repeat what i have said so many times?
LOL! I like your unique and radical departure from the normal standards applied by meteorology in determining average temperatures. It's fun. But please, don't change your education to one in which numbers play a significant part!
@troelsjensjensen Btw I still can't stop laughing at your comment that the danes doesn't have souls and are programmed "robots". Hahahahaha :D Do you then think that you, your friends, your mom, your father and the rest of your family are programmed robots with no souls?
No rain in summer? Wrong yet again. Actually, Denmark has MOST precipitation in the summer months. June, July, August and September are the wettest months. On average, half the days are "wet".
@troelsjensjensen I have lived in central Copenhagen for over 10 years. So i know what I am talking about. I have NEVER said it NEVER rains during the summer. I said normally (which means most of the days in the summer) it doesn't rain and it is warm around 20-25 degrees. As you said the average temperature is 21 degrees. You are basically just repeating what im saying and then afterwards claim that I am wrong even though you just said what i said. LOL i really can't take you seriously.

I'll give you people a serious review on the weather of Denmark!
Spring: Not that warm, but not cold either. Frost in the night is possible, but the temperature is usually over 10 degrees.
Summer: Mild weather and usually hottest in July. The summer can be rainy.
Autumn: Windy, rainy and the possibility of frost during the night. Sometimes weather can be great, which makes the autumn charming.
Winther: USUALLY a mild winther with very little snow and averaging 2+ degrees during the day.
