OK, i know hot to make a lava killing trap that lets you keep the resources. what i want to know, is if anyone can find one to work on chicken, let me know! i've tried three ways, all failed due to chickens small size/low health.

@kiershar i know u wont reply but i will still tell you.... you know the controlling water with red stone i got an idea for that..... using a trap....u can use pistons in 1.7 to automaticaly reset the lava so it will flow once the mob steps on the plat form the lava should pour down and kill it and then should disapear...i do not think you get it ... i do not know how to explain over youtube... if you understand please do a video thanks

i had a thoght that maybe you can test out on okay so im going to make a pit with pressure plats at the bottom and a trap door at the side and when some or something say a creeper falls in the trap door will open and lava will poor out of the hatch and kill the creeper then im going to have water and have the recources like the gunpowder will flow through the water to a gathering point will that Work

@lakristianla It shouldn't destroy any items because the lava is above the mobs' heads. The mobs jump aroud because, well, that's what mobs do, and then they burn on the lava and their items are safe and sound.

You know that he says that this is outdated and that if we want to kill animals then we should use "something else". Does anybody have any suggestions to what to use. I am planning to hook it up to an above ground animal spawn area. I am thinking of going for a simple pit fall trap to let gravity do the trick but any suggestions, or even better, tutorials would be much appreciated

@SomeoneSomewhereMax This is solely and example of the trap itself. Obviously if you wanted to collect large amounts of items having a random trap outside like this wouldn't work and would be more than a little hazardous to your health.

For practical purposes you would hook this up to a Dungeon mob spawner (drowning traps tend to work better and are a bit easier to set up for this however) or a man made mod spawner. Check out some more of kiershars vids for tuts on both of these!

Mob trap=Easy. 1st find atleast 20 redstone 2nd make atleast 11 trap doors. 3rdHave atleast 64 cobblestone 4th.dig a 10x20 REALY deep hole 5th make a bridge of trap doors 6th put cobblestone on the sides of the trap doors 7thline red stone on the cobble stop(1 side) 8th make a lever 9th connect the red stone to the elver 10th get mobs to chase you,then open the bridge 11th ifthey still live theres 1 option, T-N-T. 12th put TNT in the hole 13th Blow the TNT up 14th laugh and collect

Unfortunately, this doesn't work in 1.6. However, you can just add a cactus at the very end, and destroy the block blocking the spiders.

I'm new to Minecraft, and I have the 1.6.6 Beta version. I remember reading smewhere that Minecraft Beta doesn't have mobs. Obviously it isn't true, because I'm constantly killed by monsters at night... But whenever I make a trap that I have seen work on Minecraft Alpha, it doesn't work on Minecraft Beta. So, my question is if this trap will work on Minecraft Beta. I tried a similair one and it didn't work. Do you have to be in the collecting area for it to work?? I don't know... PLEASE HELP 321

@PumpkinProductions10 no what happens is when u create this trap, it grinds monster/animal and it collects their items in the collecting area, which means all u have to do is check back on the collecting area every 5 in if u want to do something else, and during night, you can make your base in collecting area.
