  • Great info. Thanks for posting this!

  • this is pure genius. now I can fix my corsair today!

  • 90% of my repairs are duct tape. Zip ties are brilliant!

  • You are an absolute GENIUS!!!!! You have just saved my plane and it can now fly again :D This trick is just purely amazing!!!!! Thank you very much again :D

  • Dave, my hawksky's ailerons are like coming apart... Can I use ziptie as hinges instead of buying them from hobby shops? Plz reply, thank you!

  • thank you dave you are very helpful!!! i always go to u for rc advise!!

  • where do u get the glue from? like online

  • how do you repair a broken rc jet wing?

  • Hey Dave! I was wondering, can you use 5 minute expoxy or hot glue instead of foam safe CA?

    Thanks

  • Yes, you can. I find the two-part Loctite branded 1-minute or 5-minute expoxy works better than hot glue or even hobby grade foam superglue. Bond is much more solid.

  • Thanks

  • Thats why i hate balsa wood planes! its really hard to repair then as compared to foam planes....

  • ya, hi.

    i hope you don't mind i ask a question.

i have a balsa wood fuselage. the landing gear will not go in because it is damaged there.

will cut pieces of popsicle sticks and wood glue work? it looks like it does.

  • Dave I am so glad you did this - I just used the info in this video to fix my new PZ P-51 Gunfighter rudder, which comes really weak from the factory. After a crash it needed real repair and this did the trick.

I made a video to help other P-51 guys and gave you credit! You can see it on my site.

Thanks again, Dave! 5 stars always.

  • Thanks for the kind words. I am glad it worked for you.

    Ill look at your vid.

  • Here's a question for you Dave, Mr Herbert. Obviously a full tank of gas on an RC helicopter weighs more than an empty tank, Dose the same go for fully charged and discharged battery's?

  • Haha. No change in Lipo batteries if empty! It is perfect for balancing. Some of my gas planes have 16 ounce tanks and that is a lot of weight to transfer as the plane runs out of fuel, requiring re trimming for landings, etc.

  • never thought of using those to make a hinge.

    great video!!!

    5 stars!!!

  • Thanks kindly.

  • Great idea...

  • Thank you.

  • ouch

  • Nice ;)

  • Thanks.

  • cool!

i have a HUGE question though... i am thinking of starting some foam planes... but where do you get the foam!?

    I LOOKED EVERY WHERE!!!

and there are no hobby shops at all where i live...stupid canada...

  • You may find foam board in Staples, Office supplies stores or places that sell Home Hobby supplies, Like Michael's.

  • YES!!!! THX!!!

    i really needed this information...

    I CAN FINALLY START!!! WOOHOO!!!

    thx!!!

  • hey i flew my super cub last week and it turn out great only 1 misstake tough night flying with ACT on wasnt good crashed 1 time then i turned it off then it flew great my 1 night flying didnt film it tough but i wish i could going to next time and got any tips when landing on grass my super cub only does nose dives into the grass when landing gear toutches the grass

  • Yes, the nose dive in grass landings is common. I have seen more people crash with the ACT on, because it does not allow you enough controll to save it, when it gets lost, and it does. It only knows sky (light) and ground (dark). Unfortunately trees, water on the ground and big clouds can affect it Leave it off and have fun.

  • what were all those packages lying on the floor near the end of the video, they looked like glow sticks lol

  • Yes, they are. See my latest Night Flying video and you will see them in use.

  • I need more greates TIPS Dave, gracias!

  • Yet another great tip Dave and i shall have to use that when i do my first scratch build ;-) 5*

  • Thanks very kindly.

  • What do you do with all the glow sticks?

  • Fly in the dark. See my latest video on Nightflying to see them in action.

  • Finally an intelligent design! Much better than the old reinforced tape and hot glue I have seen other RC guys use.

  • Thanks very much. I appreciate your comments.

  • Great tip thanks, funny, was just wondering today about how to make a hinge on my first scratch build Foam plane.

  • Thanks very much.

  • great fix zip ties work great on a lot of thing they are the handy mans second secret weapon as red green would say lol

  • So true. Thanks for the comments.

  • Doesint that have resistance?

  • Very little. Nothing to worry about however, as you see in the video, it works very smoothly.

  • Cool stuff, great idea, i'm definitely gonna use that when i'm out of hinges :-) Thanks for sharing.

  • Thank you. I appreciate that.

  • why are there so many glow sticks in the background?

  • Those were used for night flying, which he was doing last night when he broke the hinge.

  • Getting ready for more night flying. See my latest video to see them in action.

  • Excellent idea, thanks for sharing.

  • Thanks very much.

  • thats like genius never thought of that..nice

  • Thanks very kindly for your comments.

  • Very smart! Never thought of that!
