This show taught me how to read. And it made me sick to find out PBS finally pulled the plug on the reruns. However, I don't think its over yet. According to LeVar himself on his official twitter, a revival is being developed. If the show is actually put into production, we should see it in 2011 at the earliest.

I'm an 80's child! I used to borrow the reading rainbow cassette from the library like every week and play it with my "my first sony" recorder. This was my favorite song! I was a bit scared of the fire part though because I didn't want anyone to get hurt lol

Holy shit I can still remember the book featured in this episode--A Chair For My Mother. I remember there was a fire and they had to buy the mom a new chair or something...I can even still see the chair in my mind. Why in the world would I have remembered that all these years later? I think that this episode is what got me interested in firefighting back when I was 4 years old and I never forgot it I guess. Now I'm a Paid Firefighter for my town.

@tornadoguy2006 - it sure was. i know b/c my dad is the guy that they are filming putting on the gear. later in the episode. they asked him and his buddies from Ladder 4 in Manhattan to film over at Randall's Island. i recognize a bunch of them. i just searched for this episode to show a friend and found this vid. sweet dancing... lolz.

@tornadoguy2006 Wow man. You know I came to this video because I seem to remember that one of the firefighters in this episode was a chief during 9/11. I think his name was "Chief Foudy" I found out about it from watching the documentary "9/11" and I recognized his face and remembered it from this episode.
