Very artfully fast-forwarded, and the commentary made me laugh a few times. =P Plus, you could tell it was a blind play-through, and that's always important.
First time viewer.. watched all 12 of your LP's of this and I thought it was well made and humorous. I would play the game and pause for breaks and what not and then watch you up to where I was. Took me 3.5 hours and many of deaths to beat this. I got stumped 6 times. Some of them were ignorance and others I don't think I would every had figured out. GG & keep up the good work!
I don't know what about girl but if she died why was she burying her brother? It's very interesting game and I am pissed that creator did not tell the story :( But still... Very awesome game and sad and depressing but fun to play... I loved it... But felt VERY sorry for the boy :(:(:(:(
Heres what I think about the story... Brother and sister escaped from the house and went to the forest... They found an old tree house and went upstairs... Sister went up first and then brother.. but suddenly stair fell and they fell as well... but as brother was down he fell on something and sister fell on him so she survived.. and then she saw that he was dead, was too afraid to leave alone so she buried him... and the boy was though hell to find way home so game ended and his soul is free :)
before he felt he had attained redemption. Also, the lost boys in the treehouse section of the game were probably there as a reminder of the brother's weaknesses.
but something bad happened. The kids got too rowdy, too crazy, and the sister panicked. She tried to make them stop, to make them calm down, but they just didn't care. Under the strain of the idiotic friends, the unfinished treehouse simply broke. The sister and brother both fell to their deaths and were crushed under chunks of lumber. So the brother's soul was so burdened with guilt that he had to go on a journey in limbo, suffering death over and over and over-
I feel like I just watched the ending of the Sopranos... And the way I see it is: The boy had some friends who saw his new treehouse, but his Dad wasn't finished with building the thing. His friends didn't care though, they wanted it. After days of being pressured by his "buddies", the boy gives in and agrees to let them up. The sister finds out and gets scared. She tries to tell him it's a bad idea and Dad will get mad, but the boy wouldn't listen. So out of worry, she goes up with them all-
For a game that "shouldn't involve much talking" due to atmosphere, you talk a LOT! I know you have to make vids and keep it interesting, but you don't have to prattle on and on. :( The game itself is interesting to watch, and genuine reactions to playing are a lot more interesting than you trying to say "profound" things. Still enjoyed watching, just a thought.
I think he fell out of the tree and died then they took down the treehouse and his sister died then his soul lie there for a long time, then his soul goes back in time and.... Nevermind idk what happened... Good, sad game though.
imo i dont think there is an exact meaning for the ending, or even the entire game. its like art, we all see the same thing but interpret it differently
OK so if you don't understand the ending he is the explanation, or at least what I thought. You are a child in limbo right? well at the end you see a girl crying and it looks as if you she is looking at something, your dead body. so when you walk up to her she is mourning your dead body because you fell out of the tree house and died. You return to your body and she sees you. hope this helps!
I just finished the game today (finally) & I think the whole adventure was a dream. That the child felt lost while looking for his sister & these things went through his mind (or in his imagination) while he looked for her. The end scene's location looks alot like the beginning of the game if you go backwards, so that's why I thought this might be the case.
However I noticed the boy's sister's eyes weren't bright, which made me wonder if she had his back to him, if she was dead, or not her.
my thoughs: the story is kinda of a rip off from painkiller. The Boy and his Sister both die. his sister goes to heaven and the boy for some reason gets stuck in his nightmares/hell whatever and has to go through it in order to go to heaven.
Thoughts on the ending? I think basically it was all just a dream and the end after the glass is the basically where the 'game' actually begins. The plot of the game is to check on his sister and if you look when you go through the glass you seem to be at the very beginning again and then you go over and check on the sister. The playing done is just his dream. The glass breaking finally wakes him up back home again. Those are my thoughts. ^ ^' I don't know if anyone can understand what I typed.
I think the whole game is his life flashing before his eyes, when he was a kid with the tree house then he gets older and moves to the city and eventually works in the factory, he died from going through the windshield, and his car hit a little girls tree house while she trying to climb up it and fell and died and he journeys at the start of the game to find the girl and apologise for the accident.
btw dont limbo mean like in the middle? like he was stuck in the middle. maybe heaven and earth and thoose who tried to kill him was other people stuck in the middle who was affraid and the monsters was guardians who was there to protect or keep the middle emty
@asianboy938 Well because it's religion...But no a theory is Limbo is where you prove yourself worthy of going to either heavan or hell,in the game the boy is trying to find his sister. But the "guardians" we're his fears he had to pass to reach "heavan",heavan being his sister.Like the giant spider, representing his fear of spiders, the boys trying to kill him represent bullies and the drowning him not being able to swim and or fear of water and the rest i'm guessing is just to make it a platformr
my personal view of the ending is that he died at the start but. hes soul stayed to find hes sister who he thought was lost but in the ending i think she was mourning him becuase she survived. and he was buried there and when he saw her she felt him and thats why she looked surpriced in the ending
Well, I don't know about you, but I really think that he fell from the tree and wakes up on Limbo, a place between life and death. As he goes to avoinding his enemies, he becames aliver. Soo, in the forest, he's dead. In the city, he starts to get his ambicious and thinkings back, and in the gravity and magnetic part, he starts to get back his physical.
When the passes throw the glass, it's like a window. He just got out from Limbo, from the death, and finds his sister, who's alive.
Acceptable game, fans trying to insert their own pseudo symbolism in a sort of self gratifying 'aren't I deep' way always brings these sort of things down though.
Really confusing game... and frustrating too : those kinds of endings or beginnings without any explanations aren't my cup of tea.... but still, like you said (sooooo many times) Interesting :p lol
@DarkAntiU94 No, no... The boy and the girl were factory workers back in days where child labor was legal. They escaped to a forest, and died (perhaps they starved to death). The boy is trying desperately to find his sister in his own personal eternal punishment. The eras mash together because it's showing the deterioration of his mind after the brain slug tore him away from his goal. The glass shattering is symbolism of his mind breaking under the stress of never seeing his sister again.
@GamerzHideaway Doesn't explain the spider. Perhaps they used a tree house as escapism, and a spider scared the boy causing him to fall from the tree house. He probably tried to grab his sister to save himself from falling and ended up bringing her down with him, and the journey through the world is his punishment as he tries to find his sister to apologise for what he did.
@DualEagle That's a very interesting and sensible interpretation. But maybe the spider is (going off of my previous explanation) is symbolism of the oppression he and his sister faced while in their factory.
@GamerzHideaway The factory idea makes sense. Since the factory would be in a city, that would explain the Hotel being part of his punishment. Perhaps he and his sister lived there with their parents while they worked at the factory. This is one of those games where the back story is determined by the viewer. All the game tells us is that the boy is searching for his sister in Limbo. In my opinion, this is the boy is goin through flashbacks of his life, which could tie into GamerzHidaway's idea.
@Polarisey123 *nod* I agree. The oppression of the city (the spider), the hardships they faced from their peers (the kids trying to murder him). It would make sense then that the brain slugs are another form of oppression that the boy and his sister faced, because they only appear after you kill the spider. Seeing as one of the brain slugs prevents the boy from meeting up with his sister, it could be sexual oppression as well as physical oppression. By sexual oppression, I mean sexism, et al.
I could make a movie adaptation of this game but with a backstory and an ending that will confuse the hell out of people more than the ending to this game.
I always saw it as her sitting down looking at her dead brother (you), and like in the beginning, you just start the journey over and over for all eternity, only to find her weeping at your corpse every time, then re-awakening in the same forest.
Ahh, the best endings are the sad ones. Two siblings killed in the spring of their life. sweet melancholy. and you can analyze this as a poem, remember how your first death is probably from the falling hazard? Somehow this reminds me of the Canadian show Odyssey, just alot darker and no cheesy acting and awesome armour, ahh sweet nostalgia.
Once the gravity switches start appearing, it seems like the limbo world starts folding in on itself. In the scene where you switched gravity near the elevator and giant tree, there was another tree upside down with treehouses, maybe the tree houses from earlier. The sudden reappearance of both the H, O, and the rooftop setting also suggests the revisit of a past location. Just a theory :D
There are two differences between the scene at the end with the sister, and the title screen. One, that ladder is broken. Two, there are flies just above the ground. Nay, two seperate clouds of flies. Oh, yeah. They're dead.
That... does sound reasonable and the flies could mean where both brothers were burried, and that whole world was the "other side of the mirror" where the two dead brothers find each other.
to be vague i think the spider, mecahnics, and other things were symbols to what lead to the ending. In a more detailed note, I agree with HxTrEmEcHaOs. A spider could've bitten her or scared her off the treehouse, which is how she died. The glass you jump through at the end represents a window in the treehouse where the boy fell out trying to save his sister. All the gravity tricks you mess with could represent falling out the window. I could be thinking too hard but theorizing is fun =)
Ok I think the boy killed the sister (on accident maybe). He then went into limbo to get his sister out, so she would live. It was a horrible world that the sister was in but since she was dead she could easily pass however the boy was not dead so it was hard for him. When he found his sister she looked up like that because she was mad at her brother.
@zebradolken2 i dont think so... in the main menu after the credits you can see flies around the exact same area the and girl were standing. also the ladder is broken, probably meaning that they were both dead for a long time
@zebradolken2 i dont think so... in the main menu after the credits you can see flies around the exact same area the boy and girl were standing. also the ladder is broken, probably meaning that they were both dead for a long time
great LP! so many either dont make the effort to edit out needless foortage, or leave out everything but the bare essencials. nice commentary, not too quiet or mundane. five sta- i mean thumbs up!
I like an interpretation of a story that's as simple as the mechanics of the game. Boy tries to find his sister and literally goes through hell and back to find her. I think the kid may have been dead (but may not really matter) but found away out of limbo with the player's ingenuity.
I really enjoyed your style of LP, from the way you commentate to the way you use editing to speed up parts you have to keep retrying. Excellent playthrough!
I think the boy and his sister were playing in a treefort with a glass window and a big spider came out and bit/scared the sister. The sis fell out the window and the boy tried to grab her but fell out too. The mechanical part doesnt make sense unless they were building robots in the treefort... I dunno but thats my guess
Amazing how people come up with these things. I mean, if someone like the boy would go through getting killed twice as a danger, he really wanted his sister( my dad wants this game)
This game reminds me of a short movie called Cat Soup where it's pretty much about a boy cat traversing to find the soul of his sister. Love the game and your commentary. I have no comments about my interpretation except for how the sister looked odd to me. It looked like it wasn't even her as there was some kind of "cord" attached to her as if she was something mechanical since she was making a motion that she was putting herself together. At first I thought she was just eating a giant worm.
i think... LIMBO is about a boy stuck in the line between the real world and hell. The car, well he got in a car accident which WHY hes there. the hotel, well he mustve stayed in one before the crash. I think you get the rest, ecxept for the spider, ill let all you figure that out. o yeah L O V E the walkthrough, they helped me ALOT
Thank you for doing these LPs, Morag0. Enjoyed all of them and subscribed! Great job overall.
Ending: Is that a car on the tree after the credits? And two swarms of flies where they were standing? His sister's eyes don't glow like his, nor do those of anyone trying to kill him (and I think even the brain-slug suicider when it's "alive") so it's possible they're already dead, and the boy's travelling is his coming to terms with death? It's a game that makes you think though...
DUDE AWESOME!!! SO EPIC I KINDA FEEL SAD NOW CAUSE ITS OVER... ITS LIKE FINISHING A GOOD BOOK. NOW I FEEL EMPTY AND THAT FINALE IS EPIC IT MADE ME SMILE INA WAY :). ANYWAY DUDE THX FOR THE VID HOPEFULY WE SEE MORE OF THIS FROM U AGAIN TY MORAG0 :)
The title screen is the same place where you find the sister but in the title screen the ladder is broken. I'm fairly sure the girl died, but maybe the boy didn't. Maybe the boy caused the fall, killed his sister, and fell into a coma. In this state of limbo, he searches for his sister, only to find that at the end of his journey, he's back where he started and his efforts are futile and so he sees his sister before the screen goes black (waking up or staying trapped in limbo).
I like the way you do your commentary! Please, keep this same style. It's funny. And oddly relaxing. lol This was a terrific lets play. This game is a giant mind rape. xD I'd of loved to play this myself but I have a PS3. : )
oh, and i guess they used a little boy to represent the innocent ness, which i understand cus if the character was an adult i dont think many people would give a crap about the story
i read on a website that one person thinks, the boy and his sister, as adults were in a car accident, that was his fault and before they die (while in limbo) he wants to find her and get her forgiveness. the breaking through the glass was the windsheild on the car and all the different levels, the forst, was when he would play as a kid, the other boys in the tree house throwing stuf at him were to symbolize bullies as a kid and the industrial levels when he was an adult working at a factory
really amazing stuff Morag0, this is your best lets play so far I think. To me this games is sort of a heaven/hell thing (or wherever you believe good people vs. bad people go when they die.) because, like you said, maybe the boy caused his sister's death and he had to prove himself worthy to be in heaven (or whatever) with his sister. The glass could be him traveling between hell and heaven. That is why you may not be able to go back after breaking through the glass either. Just a thought ;)
I subscribed because of this playthrough, and it was the best of it that I saw on youtube. Despite the game's simplicity it's these sorts of things you can pour your heart into and find yourself attached.
Wonderful LP. I'll definitely be sticking around.
I loved your emotion when the boy hits the ground. I felt how happy you were he was alive. That's how I felt too when I played it. Amazing Let's Play, I look forward to your next gaming endeavor Morag. :)
This is the first LP of yours that I've watched, and I really liked it. It was entertaining, and fun to watch. I can't wait to see that you're going to do next.
It looks to me like the two kids were playing at the treehouse and either the treehouse fell on them or the ladder broke and they both fell. Either way, the boy and his sister are pretty much dead. It may have been the boy who convinced his sister to play at the treehouse with him, making this his fault and forcing him to have to go through purgatory to make amends. Once he broke through the glass, his trials were over, he reunited with his sister, and I'm guessing their spirits both passed on.
The boy and girl died because the treehouse fell on them explaining the flies around their bodys where the game ends and the broken treehouse. The boy awakens somehow in another universe called LIMBO which is basicly just hell a never ending game. But the story just repeats itself.
Thanks again for the tutorials, man. Couldn't have completed it without you.

Baleur 1 year ago

Great LP man! You are definitely a step higher than most of the YouTube users who make LPs and just fail at editing or make terrible commentary.
But you are very good at what you do, I hope you make more in the future.
Xantexhunter 1 year ago
There are two differences between the scene at the end with the sister, and the title screen. One, that ladder is broken. Two, there are flies just above the ground. Nay, two seperate clouds of flies. Oh, yeah. They're dead.
tronzero 1 year ago
@tronzero
That... does sound reasonable and the flies could mean where both brothers were burried, and that whole world was the "other side of the mirror" where the two dead brothers find each other.
Pestinha92 1 year ago
to be vague i think the spider, mecahnics, and other things were symbols to what lead to the ending.

You can see corpses under the tree house on the title screen where the Brother and Sister were, so they did fall in die. Because the ladder broke.
KyoPwns1 1 year ago
Ok I think the boy killed the sister (on accident maybe). He then went into limbo to get his sister out, so she would live. It was a horrible world that the sister was in but since she was dead she could easily pass however the boy was not dead so it was hard for him. When he found his sister she looked up like that because she was mad at her brother.

on the second reason you said about the dying and souls maybe thats why there are flies and corpes and bones in the main menu.
baldwarfury 1 year ago
I like an interpretation of a story that's as simple as the mechanics of the game. Boy tries to find his sister and literally goes through hell and back to find her. I think the kid may have been dead (but may not really matter) but found away out of limbo with the player's ingenuity.
ThatChubbyDude 1 year ago
I'm guessing that this has something to do with Dante and Beatrice, but that's just a guess.
deviousli 1 year ago
Morag0, look closely at the main menu. You may notice that it's the same place as the end of the game.
Then you may notice some flies not in the endgame.
Then you'll notice the two odd lumps on the ground also not in the endgame.
I postulate...CORPSE!!!!!!!!(s)

I think the boy and his sister were playing in a treefort with a glass window and a big spider came out and bit/scared the sister. The sis fell out the window and the boy tried to grab her but fell out too. The mechanical part doesnt make sense unless they were building robots in the treefort... I dunno but thats my guess

Amazing how people come up with these things. I mean, if someone like the boy would go through getting killed twice as a danger, he really wanted his sister( my dad wants this game)
skullbreaker0527 1 year ago

My thoughts....

oh, and i guess they used a little boy to represent the innocent ness, which i understand cus if the character was an adult i dont think many people would give a crap about the story
Liljay0130 1 year ago
i read on a website that one person thinks, the boy and his sister, as adults were in a car accident, that was his fault and before they die (while in limbo) he wants to find her and get her forgiveness. the breaking through the glass was the windsheild on the car and all the different levels, the forst, was when he would play as a kid, the other boys in the tree house throwing stuf at him were to symbolize bullies as a kid and the industrial levels when he was an adult working at a factory
Liljay0130 1 year ago
wait...did they just give thanks to Gabe Newel
2wsxxsw234 1 year ago
really amazing stuff Morag0, this is your best lets play so far I think.
