  • "his sound needs help" jajajaja. Ok, I'm agree. Potter and his sound need help to return to the mortals world. Come on ¡¡ He is a awesome musician ¡¡¡

  • What a saxy beast!

  • lol....1:52

  • @blueroan4 yeah, probably because Potter played one of his signature licks at 1:48

  • wow, and I thought I was good... ;)

  • I saw him at the barbican with Mccoy Tyner, unbelievable!! Best musical experience of my life- I am only 20 but still, that is gonna take some serious beating. There's also a humility about him, despite him being the most technically proficient and musically gifted player alive today, that makes his playing even more enticing.

  • He even has his sound on bass clarinet. Those of you familiar with Dave Douglas's rendition of Rufus Wainright's "Poses" his The Infinite album circa 2001-2 know what I'm talking about.

  • HIs sound needs help? He has the most colorful tenor sound around, bar none. When CP plays, you know it's CP. The only other saxophonist around who is as distinguishable by timbre and tone alone is Kenny Garrett, but I think CP still has him topped, even on alto. Garrett can't pull his own sound across tenor and soprano as well as CP can on alto and soprano. There are others with haunting sounds, such as Dick Oatts, Joe Lovano, Ernie Watts, and many others, but CP has the beans AND the rice

  • i never get distracted when potter plays. the levels of energy and the texture and colors of his sound plus the emotion in his phrasing is just at an incredible level. nothing about this man's playing needs "help".

  • this body and soul vith ten.sax is best i ever heard-it nearly killed me when i first time heard it so thanks to Chris potter and friends.

  • I didn't think much of this solo. You should all you tube Mornington Lockett with the gregory fine band...that guys sings with his tenor....chris potters is great, but his sound needs help in my opinion. You all can disagree, and I'm sure all you mediocre sax players will...but when you got a sound, you got it...as good as potter is, he doesn't do it for me....like i sad his sound needs help

  • @Thats a bold statement......... he is easily one of the best sax players on the planet mate no question about it. Plus he can do a warm fuzzy tone and a real focused aggressive sound, he does them both in this video.

Nonetheless you are entitled to your opinion (albeit a skewed one)

  • @Passion613 I agree with halitoid. yes everyone is entitled to their own opinion. but even the more experienced players dig his sound. ever check out SOTW? Bunch of pros on there dig CP. You should youtube Potter live in Stuttgart for The The Single Petal of a Rose. He really demonstrates both a killer tone and a warm controlled one. As for "when you got a sound, you got it"...what do you think of Sonny Rollins? His sound isn't exactly the most beautiful of sounds, so he doesn't do it either?

  • @Passion613 your mind needs help

  • I think the reason why Passion613 likes Mornington Locketts sound on body and soul better than CP's is the reverb on Locketts mike. No disrespect, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but c'mon. listen to it. Yes he plays well, but there is very a high amount of reverb on that thing.

  • fantastic player..i love him

  • Impressionante a tecnica e o bom gosto do cidadão.

  • Man! What an interpretation!

  • Thanks Gui2704 for posting this clip. It disappeared a few months ago and for me this is the best video of Potter on youtube.

  • yh This is Body and Soul.
