The new guide is horrible! I can no longer see the menu guide at all.

The tiny white lettering on a black screen is horrible! They need to change it back to something a person can actually read.

Were getting Direct TV HD in 2 days. What i was wondering is it really that good. We have a 37" LED vizio that runs in 1080p. Will we have the ability to take advantage of the full 1080p?? One good thing is we get the HD for free for the first 3 months and if we do autopay its free for the entire 2 years. Ive heard positive and negative comments. Just wanna be sure I made a good choice..

i dont khow if anyone else is having this problem but in the new gui, when you change a channel, like in the guide, it will sometimes switch to the wrong channel for example, if i switch to 249, sometimes it will switch to 250 oor 248, might be a bug idk. but other than that the new gui is fast and better looking

This new guide stinks on non-HD tv's... I have 6 HD Tvs, and it looks fine....but the one non HD is blurry and hard to read. We need an option to use the old guide on these TVs.

@PaulineLovesPhysics , The receivers this becomes available on are the H21's, HR20's, and R22's. I am pretty sure you can tell the type of model you have by looking in the door on the bottom right hand side, but I don't remember I just became a tech agent a couple months ago, I used to be billing. You might also try online at Directv.com, log into your account and look in the my accounts options and they should be there.

Does anyone else find some of the fonts too small? Particularly with the show status bar (tracking bar?), the date/time, and the show timeframe. I'm only 28 and I can barely see them. My poor 66 year old mother doesn't have a chance. Is there a way to change the font size? I'm loving the increased speed, but if I can't see what I'm doing, it's not much help. Also, actor bios and character names are missing. Will they come back? That was one of the best features.

As far as I’m concerned the new HD menu “Update” was actually a DOWNGRADE. New menu no faster than the old menu and in cases slower. Color scheme is terrible on the eyes. Annoying pop-up comes up when viewing their HD signal through a SD device (I sometimes view DIRECTV through my DVD player) and they want to automatically reset the resolution of the receiver. Should have been given the option to receive the update rather than having it forced on us – “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.

I forced the update on mine. I pressed the red reset button and when the lights came on I pressed 0 2 4 6 8. Nothing happened so I pressed the red reset button again and did the same thing. It then downloaded a new update. However, still the old guide and it's December 11th.

also even if you do have an hd receiver and you dont get the hd ui. make sure the model of the receiver is at least an h21 or up. h20's wont get it.

In a new released a few months ago Directv told their investors that they will be unveiing a new guide at the end of the year. So the 12/10/2011 date is mostly likely.

@cowboys81FI i actually work for directv. we realeased it in some places in the beginning of november. like right now las vegas has it, and we have it out our centers. you may or may not get it before dec 10th. it just depends on your location.
