  • a tip when you do the bottom straight. hold tools in an angle you cut better and it does not need sharpening as often

  • @QueticoChris the black lines are called spalting its a type of rotit looks great

  • I've only made a few thin walled bowls (cherry, walnut, sycamore). I would love to try some exotic woods at some point. The key to successfully making a thin bowl is 1. Make sure the wood is very green to avoid cracking in the thin walls, 2. Sharp tools, and most importantly 3.Dry it VERY slowly - even while you are working on it keep the wood moist and keep it in a plastic bag at night with some water in the bag.   • Glad you liked it.  I have as much fun cutting and pasting the video's as I do making the bowls.
