I'm glad my father loves synthesizers too, if he didn't I would miss this! Too bad nobody else on my school listens to this sort of music, most people don't even know what synthesizers are. If you say I listen to a lot of synthesizers they just say: WTF are synthesizers, is that a sort classic music or something?:l
Taurus 1, Crisis, the entire Tubular Bells II, Amarok, Ommadawn, Platinum, QE2.... ah, screw it! Mike Oldfiled has made so much stunning music and this is an amazing example. the guitar-thing that gets introduced at 2:14 gives me shivers every time. Mike is amazing!
I never realized how much I love this, This was my first Vinyl LP. No, 30 years later, I know what treasure I have in the basement. I need to buy a Player...
@Milanzar I don't understand why not HR. I highly recommend Ommadawn, and the Five miles out album is also really magnificent. But the best is to youtube you're way around until you've got a sense of what you like. Hope this helps...
@shlomir3246 Hey :D thanks! Yes it'll help me :)) - I suppose that HR stands for Hervest Ridge?
I know, I'm searching on Youtube, clicking by chance and discovering music (MO, also things like Near the Parenthesis) ;) but I'm a philistine in instrumental music (just discovered it!) so some advice and help by connoisseur are welcome ;) so grazie mille!
@shlomir3246 Btw, sorry I just understood what you meant by "why not HR", I was not saying at all that I disliked it, in fact I didn't know it was also an album! I just said it because I already knew this song ;)
@CrystalDay Lol thank you :D that's so funny and all my mom's fault, she made me listen to "Moonlight shadow" when I was little and always told me that Mike Oldfield was the name of the singer... Rrrr! I remember that I asked her "Mike isn't a boy's name?" and she was "no.. not always, I think" (we're not american lol)!
I guess she's wrong :p thank you again for the informations, btw, I'm just discovering his music and I like it sooo much, do you have one favorite song to advice me please?
@Milanzar : Hah, I don't think you're the only one who think it's weird that Moonlight Shadow is a song made by a man and not a woman.
OK, of all his old stuff I really think you should check out the entire "Crises"-album (if you haven't already. It's the one with "Moonlight Shadow" on it after all). Other than that you should really listen to "Platinum" which is amazing and also the entire album "Songs From Distant Earth" (an album that is perfect for just lying in your bed and relaxing)
@Milanzar : But if you consider buying ANYTHING from him I strongly recommend the DVD for Tubular Bells II - it's just magical in every way. Watching him walk from instrument to instrument and performing that entire masterpiece... amazing.
I heard this in my 20's (am 54 now) and I still think it is one of the best instrumental tracks I have ever heard! My hair stands on end when I listen to it...it is stunning, haunting and mystical. thank you for posting it. seraigypsy@gmail.com
impressive :D first part sounds medieval... and that's really awesome! the next one is somewhat unusual, which makes the stuff even better and more interesting! :O now Taurus II and III awaits :D
Ayer lo descubrí, hoy estoy enganchado, ahí lo dejo ^^

I don't understand people nowadays who praise all this casting-show shit as music.
With Mike Oldfield you're taken to another world.

I feel lost and ashamed lol

Oddly enough, I like the feel of the live version (Montreux) better, perhaps because of the greater use made of Maggie's voice..
