  • Tried re-using the shampoo by putting it back in a bottle?

  • You should have used dishwasher liquid. Those pans are dirty. =P

  • the fluid hates itself..

  • i thought it said kanye LOL

  • can you please get more shampoo...i dont think i got it after the first bottle....

  • Cool, I think we got the idea after the first bottle of shampoo..

  • Is it just me or, when there is a continuous lanyard of shampoo going off into the container below, it look like the shampoo is spraying up from the reservoir going from left to right back up the dish?

    mrbluenun

  • this works its so cool

  • lather rinse and repeat an ocd nightmare

  • okie so i understand how it happens, now referring to a viscoelastic, how does it work?

  • now clean those dirty pans!

  • shampoo leaping, the hottest new sport!

  • what a waste

  • "Ok, who finished all the shampoo?!!"

  • This shampoo bottle could have gone to a child in Africa.

  • @baderkaderka13

As we all know, dirty hair is really at the root of Africa's problems right now.

  • you sure use alot of soap when you wash your dishes...

  • That's what lava does right?

  • Im sorry I used so much time, but you know, when nature calls, you've goto go.

  • what a waste of shampoo. and it's all for this stupid video

  • What A Waste

  • sperm! XD

  • gice it to me the shampoo

  • the best thing to do with this video is turn on the soccer ball effect

  • you should name this video "a kaye effect"

  • waste of shampoo

  • @turbotonic27 you can just re-bottle it...

  • so thats why men miss the bowl . . .

  • @imjust15 No, this is real and straight.

  • This water solution includes LANOLIN which makes it non-Newtonian.

  • It looks like a pool of honey near the end.

  • lol 7:05

  • Where's my bloody shampoo gone?

  • Saturation.

  • isit just basicly oil bouncing off oil ???

  • wtf that looks like porn

  • around 2:00, note that the kaye effect works at the left side of the screen as well !

  • lol

  • @KevinSilentControl thats because of the viscosity from the falling liquid vs still liquid

  • does the falling fluid launch the stationary fluid or is it the other way around?

  • looks like an uber zit popping

  • liquid spring

  • just asking it becomes momentarily solid (like a non-newtonian fluid) and then bunces off?

  • thats alot of shampoo

  • Thank you! Now I have some media for my presentation =D

  • yeah i have seen this effect before, guess where...lol in the shower.

  • Lol man, me to xD

  • that was awesome!

  • It's very relaxing watching this all day.

  • That's pretty cool.

  • What a waste of shampoo :-(

  • 3:50 is like pee coming out soooooo fast

  • Congratulations! You just made something non-alive piss!

0:28 is pure evidence! got bored lol :)

  • I like these videos. I have always been facinated by stuff like this.

  • on my observation the viscosity of the shampoo creates a temporary ramp which leverages the flow at a particular angle and propels the shampoo.

  • I get it COOL! But SEVEN minutes!!!

  • that's a waste of a good shampoo

  • well he is obviously a guy and that is girls shampoo so it probably doesn't really matter how much he uses because he won't use it!

  • girl's shampoo? Shampoo is gender specific now?

  • Kaye saw this effect first when he was squirting one day on the floor...

This video looks like pee influenced ejaculation. lol

  • like a stream of tap water hitting a spoon :/

  • Its like a reflection

  • i hope you're recycling that shampoo out of that dirty-ass sauce pan. maybe the crust will grow your brain. haha jk, respect to science, but it saw this at just the wrong time.... GO PSIDOT!

  • You know, some people prefer to stay inside and do things like this. You wouldn't have Youtube, or even the internet if it weren't for people who enjoyed spending a great deal of time indoors learning about stuff. Nerds and geeks don't go out to the football field and tell the football players to go inside and play around with Perl.

  • Interesting that the effect can be stabilized and amplified. The only prerequisite is that the fluid be shear-thinning.

  • looks like ejaculation

  • Also known as the Bukkake Effect.

  • Wow just tried this in a smal scaled experiment and it works just drizzle shampoo or showering gel on a slanted surface

  • just looks like really thick pee

  • honestly, this vid could of been like 20 sec tops youve scared me away from watching any future vids from you

  • This shit is 7 minutes long. It's only been 2:44 and I'm almost dead from this crap. Thanks guy.

  • omg is this a joke?

  • This is an advert for L'Oreal Elvive Shampoo, right?

  • That's a lotta shampoo wasted in the name of science :)

  • i do that when im putting shampoo in my hands in the shower >_>

  • oooohh, its like a rather violent ejaculation!!

  • that's what i was thinking

  • O lawds what a sweet waste of 7 minutes of my life and four 250 ml bottles of L'Oreal Elvive Anti-Frizz Shampoo

  • Wow...

get a life... find a girl to paly with

  • threes never been anything interesting associated with shampoo

  • i think i get it with water it just goes with it but in the vid the shampoo doesnt absorb with the rest

  • Could you please explain why it does this?

  • this video pissed me off into another dimension of frustrated!! Ok, couldn't you have spent only 5 minutes squirting shampoo on a baking dish and maybe been kind enough to tell us what the Kaye effect actually is with the other two minutes? I mean, how much do we need to see shampoo flying all over before we understand what the Kaye effect looks like. Now tell us what and why it is!! ANGER!!!!!

  • Got damn it, i read your comment before watching the video and now i cant take it serious at all.

    "squirting shampoo" =D

  • why does that happen R U THE DEVIL?

  • i hope you scraped that shampoo off for your shower

  • Atleast the dishes will be cleaned now

  • Waste of shampoo he got at the dollar store? It's not that horrific, I doubt he bought shampoo bottles that cost 100+ to waste.

  • Waste of shampoo xD

  • zzzzz...

  • Waste of shampoo! lol Honestly it is, no offence psidiot! lol Dont you get it, idot idiot hahahahahahahah

  • Same effect causes hydrolics to work

  • The shampoo creates a small tunnel in the pile of soap, and the energy of the falling soap causes it to rupture in a small powerful stream.

This is seen all over in fluid dynamics

  • maybe you shouldn't use shampoo to clean your cookwear..that shit is gross

  • shampoo orgasm...

    guy shampoo.

  • why does that work?

  • its cumming

  • jus wasted an ass load of shampoo

  • it's ejaculating!

  • lol thats why i stoped watching

  • Wow..how can shampoo make you feel SO dirty??

  • while he's making small deals

normal guy could do big one

  • I wonder how many girls cried while watching this movie. I know I did. :P

  • sperm

  • This looks like the kind of forces found on the surface of the sun, but I just can't figure out who would be pouring shampoo on the sun???!!!

  • thats like a metaphor for life seeding in the universe

  • that amount of shampoo couldve kept a chav clean for an hour, give it to the needy

  • Your housemates gonna be furious you used all her shampoo for this vid

  • that was awesome!

  • so it only works with Elvive right?

  • No. I have since found that Clean Balancing Normalising Shampoo by Neutrogena works even better than the Elvive shampoo shown in the video. I am also certain that many other brands of shampoo work just as well - one just needs to experiment and find what works best from them.

  • You really thought this through didn't you? This video would be a lot better if you explained what the hell is going on here... it would be much more interesting that way.

But, now I have a weird urge to mess around with shampoo...

  • U should of used dish soap to clean ur freckin disgusting pan~!

  • llol

  • lmao wow u learn this when ur like 2 years old playing around with the shampoo in the tub lol...

  • O Kaye!

  • Good thing this doesn't happen in the shower...but you could have used some other crap brand instead?

  • No lol

  • Is anyone else finding this strangely erotic?

  • That's definitely a very amazing thing to watch but why did you have to use an expensive shampoo? I know how funny this comment is but come on. That's L'oreal right? That is an expensive brand here in our country...and you had to use a dirty baking pan? WHy? You could've reuse all the spilled shampoo...why??

  • Settle down you tosser.

  • i did this in my schools bathroom & just got like a ton of it 2 go all over the floor lol

  • i believe its just splatter from the pressuer your using to squirt the shampoo hah

  • It was fascinating for about 3 and a half minutes, which by my calculations makes this video over twice as long as it needed to be.

  • you know, there's limits to when science is interesting and cool....this is definitly not one of them. Now if that was hot molten lava, that'd be a different story. lava is a viscoelastic fluid!

  • O.O

Daaang, someone decided to use a lot of money for the "sake of science". Just kidding.

But really, I love your videos. I find them highly educational, even though I can't understand some of the words.

  • why does this happen?

  • Dude what a waste of shampoo

  • You just like playing with shit and making messes, don't ya. your mom ought to WHIP your ass!

  • I don't see what this has to do with Kanye. You guys didn't even play his music in the vid.

  • Haha Yes! I love stupid people!!!

  • lol troll'd

  • its not suppose to have anything to do with Kanye.. its called the Kaye effect...

  • omg orly? cuz Kanye uses lots of effects in his music, which one is this about?

  • rofl...

  • hahahahahahaha, nexluguolo was that serious?

  • This is a great effect!

Now I can just imagine slime and blob monsters exploiting it to catch people by surprise!

  • Every mom's nightmare....the kids get loose and go pour the shampoo down the the bathtub drain. At least you can pour it back in the bottles! Good job!

  • it is interesting but i dont think this effect would be of much use within these days of technological advancement

  • wot a waste of money u cud give those to bums

  • good job, your a fucking scientist.

  • you have too much time on ur hands

  • shampoos also quite good for washing your hair with...good vid tho!!

  • Hair washing is a secondary effect

  • looks like its skeeting

  • im shure as hell not trying that with my shampoo.

    the shtuff expencive XD

    o_o

    i never knew that :S

and if its happened to me i wouldnt have known

but now i know im gonna be watching out for it XD

  • Ok so what did he do with shampoo after that.

  • Yeah, that's really cool.

Please keep up you're work with the videos, I enjoy them very much ;)

  • I've never seen that happen before. Very interesting effect indeed. I am enjoying your videos very much. Thanks for posting them :)

  • skeet skeet like a water...uhh....shampoo. nice vid 5 STARS FOR YOU!! *****

  • you should do this again on a much larger surface to see how far the stream will travel/jump. + thanks for posting keep up the good work i think im gonna subscribe. scratch that i am gonna subscribe ^_^

  • oh thats cool, it does the jump again on the bottom. very nice. I didn't know you could do this with shampoo at such low levels of liquid of the flat surface. I guess the density makes a difference.

  • wow, if this were highschool this is when my face would get shoved into the big pan of shampoo.

  • This happend to me as i was pouring a thin stream of shampoo in my hand while taking a shower

  • Do you use shampoo for cleaning stoves???

  • Yes, hairy stoves.

  • i would just like to know what the first person was doing when he/she found t his out...

  • you should get elvive sponsoring this ;)

  • It looks like it's pretty much frictionless when it's doing that too, especially with the speed that it makes it's way over the bottom edge of the dish there.

  • your next 23 lasagnas will taste like shampoo

  • George Bush doesn't care about viscoelastic fluid.

  • I noticed it kinda does this with candle wax but it doesn't bounce like that...it just forms a bubble ontop, like dish soap, how those bubbles are attached.

  • is there any sort of explenation as to how it does that?

  • I wonder what other liquid that can produce the Kaye effect. Thick oil? Honey? You reckon we need the right amount of liquid viscosity as the shampoo?

Hehe, cool show. But I think u used too much shampoo. Heh. Cheers!

  • Very good!!

  • so is the shampoo like bouncing off the dish?

  • Yep, the liquid stream bounces straight off the liquid shampoo below.

  • can i borrow your shampoo?:P

  • GOOO!

  • Is that baby shampoo?

  • No. It's Elvive anti-frizz shampoo by L'Oreal

  • Looks like you wasted a bunch of shampoo, jerk...LOL No j/k, I heard this experiment could guide laser beams

  • that was amazing

  • Cool
