I am sensitive to clothing though. I get itchy easily and I prefer to wear soft clothing or as little as possible (which I can only do in my apartment).
Soft clothing for me too. Little as possible works depending on the air quality. Sometimes, the wrong air/dust/just the wrong amount of circulation is enough for me to avoid the not wearing part. I have found that I prefer cool with soft clothing or less with a good level of clean warm air circulation and just enough cotton on to wick away/cover up.
AHAHAH!!! Yoy make me laugh, you make me laugh! warmfuzzy: I prefer to wear soft clothing or as little as possible (which I can only do in my apartment).
I have AS and I am sensitive to some sounds, but not bothered by many of them. When I was in college, I was often irratated (sp) by the sound of clicking erasers and the sound of people breathing while I was focusing on a test.
I walked on my toes too and just got diagnosed resently. So all in all as a child I had a very simillar development than you, exept, that I wasn't hyperlexic. When did you startet to talk? You said, that you were a late talker. I startet to talk, when I was 3 and I have sound sensitivity very strong avtually.
this is an awesome response, i've been watching all of them. i love how good people can appreciate each other. i will totally check into that sound..thing
Getting the correct diagnosis was a nightmare for me; Jordan goes in for testing soon. If he's on the spectrum, I suspect getting a diagnosis is going to be difficult because he doesn't have many of the classic symptoms. Like me, he is adept with language and has been speaking since he was four months old, but his social skills are atrocious.
I'm still curious about Jade. I am still curious about myself even because my diagnosis was quite a cursory look. I think classic symptoms are beginning to be understood better though now. There will probably be something new in the next diagnostic manual to reflect some of that. It's strange to me that a secondary "manifestation" like social skills is used as a diagnosis more than the more primary mental traits although they are touched on a bit.
