@Rayncatt ahhh i have a radio show too! 91.5 fm or online at wtul.fm. you can tune in on itunes rado if you click on "wtul new orleans" under "college radio." it's mostly post-punk, shoegaze, janglepop, 80s and 90s obscurities mostly, and i usually just play vinyl! mondays from 2-4 pm central time. tune into my show and i'll listen to yours! can i listen to yours online?
@beanbagchair yeah the station 103fm is out of Indiana and I broadcast out from North California so yes we stream on the net;o) Wed n Fri 6pm EST my show is mostly 80s alternative sub alt rares/obscures and new alternative but do throw in other music oh yeah punk too lol and some shoegaze. I will have a listen...how long r you on for? My show is 3 hours so..yeah lol maybe I should just messege u lol
This is TWENTY years old. Jesus. Just listening to new Shoey bands on 6Music (Washed Out etc) made me want to see the original and best. Cheers Chaps you were great x
@italosouza2011 Eu também conheci a banda +/- nessa mesma época no programa "ladoB". Também conheci muitas outras bandas bacanas através do programa... bons tempos foram aqueles!
chapterhouse was amazing ! the song april is just unbelievable and this one with rachel goswell's backing vocals is just perfect ! what an awesome band and andrew sherriff was the hottest guy in the world :)
MBV was the best hands down If you know shoegaze most likely you've investigated & will agree or present a strong argument hopefully. the guy/person below me has It right (imo of course). Slowdive's "Souvlaki" album was the very Second BEST SHOEGAZE ALBUM It still could barely nipp at the heels of "Loveless" but.. what can!? lol. I love this era, style & this genre.. forget labels this is good music=has SOUL..manufactured crap never molds for days but good food molds If not ate fresh you know!
My Bloody Valentine were clearly the best, along with Slowdive. Ride and Chapterhouse were both solid shoegaze bands for sure, but it's a stretch to say either were the best.
If you like Chapterhouse, you don't understand shoegaze. They were the worst first wave shoegaze band, and they've aged poorly. Really uninventive syrupy melodies and obnoxious vocals here. Listen to Ride.
@Polyfusia Dude, are you mad??? You're totally wrong. All the shoegaze bands were great and Chapterhouse is not an exception. I personally like them because they blended the groove of Madchester scene with the psychedelia of Spacemen 3 perfectly. If you don't like Chapterhouse, it's your right. But don't say Chapterhouse fans don't understand shoegaze music. This is a REAL ignorance.OPEN YOUR MIND!!! And, by the way, I also like Ride. "Leave Them All Behind" is one of my favourite tracks.
isisstardust, the song has samples of Kiss them for Me; Siouxsie and the Banshees and Return to Innocence by Enigma as it was produced by the same Producer.
@manamedia actually, the siouxie and the banshees song came out AFTER this song and both share a sample of the schooly d track "P.S.K. what does it mean"
@manamedia actually, the siouxie and the banshees song came out AFTER this song and both share a sample of the schooly d track "P.S.K. What Does it Mean"
@manamedia both this song and 'kiss them for me' sampled another song called 'PSK what does it mean' which was from 1985 this song does not sample kiss them for me...
I noticed some people complaining that this video is too lame or boring................but I think it fits the song well. I like the simplicity and dream-like nature of it.
Good song, but the video makes me cringe. The lead singer looks confused and gay throughout the whole video (not that there's anything wrong with either). The flowing hair in the wind doesn't help either.
I just reviewed a voivod video and needed a change of pace. I love this tune 91 was a very odd year for me and this song was a staple along with the heavier stuff like KMFMD and Pantera. I still love the beauty of this tune and and the lyrics.

yes you are right. while chapterhouse was recording, a sound engineer heard the song and then worked with siouxsie shortly after and gave them the lick and siouxsie's album came out 2 weeks before chapterhouse. not sure if there was any legal issues though. siouxsie had no idea it was someone elses work.

Swervedriver's "Raise" was most definitely a shoegazey album, but their influences were more along the T-Rex vein. They were not strictly shoegaze or grunge or rock, but had elements of all in their tunes. Each album was different from the preceding one.
I love this song by Chapterhouse. Reminds me of Lush and MBV. Classic shoegaze with the vocals buried beneath textures of sound. Dreamy.

Well, it's very easy to call videos like this corny by 2009/2010 standards, but back then, it was a little different.
Then again, hardly anyone gets to make a video anymore, so it doesn't even matter what the 2009/2010 standards are now!
