I'm an agnostic, but believe in tolerance of other people's opinions and religions. If a tree is a "Christmas tree" to you, then that's what it IS. I totally respect that. BUT... there are other religions celebrating their holidays in their religions at that time of the year and I think that we shouldn't exclude other people. You can have a "Christmas parade" if you want to exclude other religions, but it'd be awful cool and tolerant of you to share and have a "Holiday parade" .
Why would a Christmas parade be exclusive? I'm an atheist, but believe Christianity and western ideals is the dominate culture in American society and should stay that way unless you prefer to see America drop to third world status all for the sake of multiculturalism. Example, if I lived in Beijing and was witnessing a Chinese New Year parade and celebrating of Chinese culture I wouldn't complain of there being no representation of my culture.
If your going to advocate multiculturalism then it should be for every country not just westernized ones with white Christians living there. Why would a Christmas parade be exclusive? I'm an atheist, but believe Christianity and western ideals is the dominate culture in American society and should stay that way unless you prefer to see America drop to third world status all for the sake of multiculturalism. Example, if I lived in Beijing and was witnessing a Chinese New Year parade and celebrating of Chinese culture I wouldn't complain of there being no representation of my culture.

If a church or group of churches want/s to put on a Christmas Parade, then that's all good and fine. But being true to separation of church and state, government entities such as cities, towns, counties, etc. shouldn't show favoritism toward any particular religion or sect of religion.

1: people getting offended by "merry christmas." There is no reason to get offended because you see or hear the words "merry christmas." Someone is simply wishing you a happy day on december 25th...
2: christians getting offended by "happy holidays." There is no reason to get offended by this either. It is the exact same sentiment. Just because we don't say merry christmas doesn't mean you can't say or celebrate christmas. Nobody's trying to stop it.

None of them made a coherent point. The reason organized religious celebration is not allowed in public schools is that they are funded by the government through tax-payer money. The government is obligated by the Constitution to make no law respecting the establishment of religion. This means that any organized form of religious activity, funding or education cannot come from governmental institutions, such as public schools.
Allowing Christmas celebrations in public schools is illegal.
