To say something as needlessly definitive as they're 'better than the beatles' is pretty extreme... id even call it silly. The Beatles predate this, in terms of causality and timeline alone the beatles existence impacted both the sound of Squeeze and the nature of their careers. Let alone the clear influence from the Beatles in Squeeze's moifs and styles.
