The "natural" claim that heterosexists make is likely largely derived from Romans 1:26 and the surrounding verses.

I feel like everyone should realize that Bible was written by people. I know that its suppose to be "the word of God", but it was written and re-written too many times BY PEOPLE, and it was written in a time when these things were "normal" and socially accepted. A lot of these fundamental churches use the KJV, which is probably one of the worst translations. There's also the trouble that the majority of these fundamental preachers are dictated what things are to be preached, and which aren't. There's a good documentary-can't remember the name-that reveals this trend in fundamental Christianity in America.

And the Inquisition isn't about what the Bible preaches, but a socio-political entity that cropped up in Europe (most notably Spain). They fail to admit that when they say they chose to be straight they are also admitting to an inherent bisexuality. People who have no choice would not consider sex with the same or opposite sex. @christopherse2 I have done my homework. It is common knowledge that no definite cause of homosexuality has been found, only suggested. And "Studies prove" does not make it a fact. Such studies have only been conducted in the last 12+ years and it is too early to really make an official scientific diagnosis. That is why these studies, even recent ones, are still theories. But if you have the solid evidence that your statement is fact, then back it up with some evidence/documentation etc.

It isn't :P. So if you constructed an argument based upon that then anybody finding it out may view you as inept or deceptive and could even generalize those negative attributes to all/most proponents of your viewpoint. I.E. it could serve to undermine your viewpoint.

I just wanted to make sure you weren't unintentionally promoting a falsehood anyway as that undermines your cause, even though it was unintentional, when people find out that you are mistaken about a key point.

Furthermore, many species are hermaphrodites, perhaps most species on the planet even, procreate asexually, so you are absolutely wrong that all are "attracted to the opposite sex".
Procreation and homosexuality are not mutually exclusive.

@joeysgarage1 Np and indeed homosexuality is well documented among almost 1500 species of animal, though I don't necessarily recommend that as you're primary counter-argument to the "homosexuality is unnatural" argument. The "natural" claim that heterosexists make is likely largely derived from Romans 1:26 and the surrounding verses.
Animal "morality" shouldn't determine our own really (they kill their young etc sometimes).

@joeysgarage1 It is better to counter claims that "homosexuality is unnatural" (which basically implies "and is therefore bad") by demonstrating that whether or not something is natural or not is irrelevant to whether or not it is good or bad, moral or immoral.
I do that by pointing to medical care, some of which involves directly countering "natural" biological mechanisms (and therefore saves lives).

A lot of these fundamental churches use the KJV, which is probably one of the worst translations. There's also the trouble that the majority of these fundamental preachers are dictated what things are to be preached, and which aren't. There's a good documentary-can't remember the name-that reveals this trend in fundamental Christianity in America.

And the Inquisition isn't about what the Bible preaches, but a socio-political entity that cropped up in Europe (most notably Spain). The Church is the largest non-profit organization on Earth, and runs more hospices and orphanages in third-world countries than any other group. That seems to sound like a loving religion to me.

@christopherse2 studies have shown that it could be determined from birth, but it isnt a proven fact. But I understand believing that would make you dislike my God. it would seem weird and wrong for a God to condemn a person for something they have no control over. But you need to do more research, homosexuality is not genetically predetermined element, and even tho studies have suggested such, there is nothing that proves it as fact. if you believe that, then you'll realize God is not hateful.

@christopherse2 I have done my homework. It is common knowledge that no definite cause of homosexuality has been found, only suggested. And "Studies prove" does not make it a fact. Such studies have only been conducted in the last 12+ years and it is too early to really make an official scientific diagnosis. That is why these studies, even recent ones, are still theories. But if you have the solid evidence that your statement is fact, then back it up with some evidence/documentation etc.

@gnossticc Depending upon your definition, all technology is unnatural. Is that relevant to it's morality or the morality of it's use? No. So why is naturalness relevant to moral validity? Many forms of modern medical care directly contravene nature... are they therefore immoral or somehow invalidated due to this?
Why does ability to procreate validate a relationship? Are/was your grandparents relationship invalid for instance? How about if you discover you or your partner are infertile?

@gnossticc Scientists aim to create something that performs complex tasks and calculations, not a human-like consciousness as if our computers had that, it would basically be slavery.
Some efforts may be made towards artificial intelligence but that is not the case for the computers I and you are using for instance. As I said before, even were you to conclusively demonstrate mimicry, that would NOT make it natural anyway.

@gnossticc Take the example of anti-coagulants for instance. They prevent coagulation and are given to heart-attack sufferers to alleviate coronary artery blockages I believe. They directly counteract a "natural" biological mechanism and so are themselves the epitome of unnatural. They save lives as a result.
You have not even demonstrated that unnatural things are inherently immoral yet, you have simply asserted that they are, while I have proven that they are not.

Would you suggest that hospitals abandon the use of their anticoagulants in favour of offering ginger and garlic to those suffering a myocardial infarction btw?

@gnossticc Whether or not something is naturally occurring does not change the fact that to use it to intentionally, directly inhibit a natural biological process is about as unnatural as something can get. The same is true of immunosupressants, antiperspirant etc etc etc.
If you disagree, you are using a very bizzare definition of "unnatural" or "natural". Please define the criteria you use to distinguish between natural/unnatural and establish their relevance to moral validity.
